Can i ask which external links you are refferring to? I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.101.45.50 (talk) 18:30, 1 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

There were JuiceCaster external links in a completely non-related article: Facebook, if I remember correctly. As for the JuiceCaster page being deleted, it was a Speedy Delete, which doesn't need consensus. If you have any further questions, let me know. - hmwithtalk 20:10, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Juicecaster page to be reinstated?

Thanks for the speedy response. As for the external link in Facebook, I do apologize. I was not aware that we were not to edit or add a link. Juicecaster is a social networking site similar to myspace, facebook although not competive in size the share similarities of involving social networks and media(picture, video) sharing. The juicecaster added to the see also page of facebook was just to reference the other mediums of social networks avaiable out there.

I read the reason in the deletion log of the Juicecaster wiki page being deleted due to blatenly advertising. Which states: Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group, service, or person and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company, product, group, service, or person as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion; an article that is blatant advertising should have inappropriate content as well. If a page has previously gone through a deletion process and was not deleted, it should not be speedily deleted under this criterion.

The Juicecaster wiki page was to be a descriptive page of the company and be informitive to everyone. As you can see the page was still to be defined and scoped out better. New links of press related references were going to be added into the bio. For example one of the deals that AOL had made with Juicecaster. found here: http://www.primenewswire.com/newsroom/news.html?d=109402 also a newer deal just announced today with qualcomm. Can you please reinstate juicecaster wiki page so the proper adjustments to the page can be made so it can conform with the wiki policy? Thank you for your time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.101.45.50 (talk)

It's okay about the link. Now, you know that links only cannot be used on a page. For future reference, you may want to see "Links normally to be avoided".
  • Note that I did not delete the page. Only an admin can delete/reinstate a page, and I am just a normal editor, like you. Contact one of them if you have a question or problem with their tactics. You can go here: "Why was my page deleted?" get help and advice on how to see how to reinstate a deleted page.
Also, please sign all of your posts on talk pages with four tildes, like this ~~~~. - hmwithtalk 20:52, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yorkshire terrier

It was not my intent to rm talk comments, only the image request tag. Fast and sloppy editing, so please accept my apology. VanTucky 21:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, no problem. I just decided to remove the whole section though, as it is about the topic and not the article. - hmwithtalk 21:45, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signing third opinions

Thank you for explaining yourself in such a kind and polite manner to me, it was appreciated. However, I think you may have been mistaken as to the WP:3O instructions. You will note that it says to sign with five tildes when listing a dispute on the WP:3O page itself, but it previously made no mention of how to sign specifically when actually giving the third opinion. Thus, the five tildes thing was in the subsection on "Listing a dispute", and not in "Providing third opinions". We would actually prefer to know who gave us the third opinion. Easy mixup, no worries, and thanks again for your polite demeanor, it is rare and appreciated. Smee 08:58, 4 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I used to sign my third opinions, but I saw that a bunch of others weren't, stating that it's advised not to sign them, so I assumed we're not supposed to do it. I found that when I signed them, people were more likely to defensively respond to my posts, either because I'm a female, "less experienced", and in a certain part of the country. I don't think that any of that should matter besides my neutral opinion. However, if you advise that I do start signing my third opinion posts again, I will do it. - hmwithtalk 14:18, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uninformed

I'll assume you are uninformed about the persistent disruptive patterns involving WP:TE and WP:POINT violations of the editor in question. The deleted comments were designed to disrupt and distract a conversation between an admin and myself on my talk page. They were superfluous commentary and had no place in the conversation.

However your opinion is always welcome. I am always willing to look at my actions and re-evaluate them. I try to edit from my head, but there are always times when emotion gets in the way.

Peace in God. Lsi john 14:46, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I know that I had only a small excerpt of the conversation, and, from how it sounded there, it seemed inappropriate. I never meant to offend you by my comment on his talk page, and I sincerely apologize. - hmwithtalk 14:53, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You did not offend me at all, m'lady. I did not take your comments negatively at all. I knew you were only shown a small piece, intended to get the reaction that it got from you. This is typical of the editor in question. My comments were intended to let you know that there was indeed much more to the story than simple rudeness on my part. I look forward to working with you on future articles. Lsi john 15:17, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why, thanks! Ditto, and happy wikying! - hmwithtalk 15:18, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bear in mind that perhaps you are uninformed a bit about both of the user's sides/actions to the inherent points of view in these issues... Smee 20:12, 4 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Haha, I will bear that in mind. I'm not really too worried about it the situation at all, actually. - hmwithtalk 20:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, C'est la vie. Smee 20:44, 4 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Guster

I'd be willing to go all out on a Guster WikiProject if no one else is interested... it's funny, their not even my favorite band and I just got into them three months ago but I've done a lot of editing/ creation of pages on stuff about Guster recently... I just got the Satellite EP yesterday so I'm enjoying the newly released songs. I saw that you also finished off my Sorority Tears page and merged it with Manifest Destiny which was good, as I felt that I didn't know enough about the song to make a page on it, but I was just trying to help the Guster Project... let me know if it moves any further!

--Dark//Edge P.S. Very nice userpage, I'm quite impressed... I have no idea how to do anything like this!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:darkedge (talk) 16:46, May 4, 2007 (UTC).

Well, thanks for the userpage compliment. I'm a loser, and have no life, so I know that kind of stuff.
As for Guster, I'm always glad to see a fan, especially a new one. Guster's been my favorite band since their first album, (Goldfly. I have been watching them grow as a band and in popularity over the years, and I'm glad that you've discovered them. I hope that you have or will become one of the obsessed, loyal "Gusteroids"!
As for the Manifest Destiny / Sorority Tears single, I was trying to figure out how the do that for a while, but I finally decided that together would be the best way to do it, as it was one song here, kind of, sort of?
Anyways, glad to see your interest in the band, and I hope we can find more members. I look forward to working with you on Guster articles. - hmwithtalk 23:48, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation

Please do not move Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation or try to "correct" the spelling of its name. It is 100% correct as is. Check pbgc.gov, which is an external link at the bottom of the article, if you have any doubts. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 23:18, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, wow. I was researching it for a project, and that's how the college text book has it spelled, so i thought maybe someone just made an honest mistake. I guess The Ohio State University needs some better books! Sorry, but it was in good faith, I assure you. Thanks for letting me know. - hmwithtalk 23:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(1) Sorry I was so rude. I was very surprised to see that somebody who had never edited the article before had come along and moved it. I should have been more civil, and I apologize.

(2) I know it's an unusual spelling. I've done some work with the PBGC and learned that there's a subtle difference between a guarantee and a guaranty (an agreement by which one person assumes the responsibility of assuring payment or fulfillment of another's debts or obligations). While the PBGC guarantees workers pensions, the PBGC takeover of a company's pension plan represents a guaranty.

Anyway, have a nice weekend. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 00:01, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. You too! - hmwithtalk 05:38, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent 3O consolidation

I appreciate your effort, however it really is two distinctly different questions.

My question, is about the ability to use multiple tags in (any) article(s), without having the 2nd tag reverted with the claim 'one tag is sufficient'. This has happened on several other occasions by the same editor and I am interested in a specific opinon on that issue, in order to stop this type of edit warring in the future by this editor.

His version of the 3O is about whether or not the individual tags are justified, and whether or not they are wp:point.

His [stated intention] is to change my question to one about the specific tags, rather than about the ability to have multiple tags on the same article.

Thanks. Lsi john 18:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake. I simply thought that one person accidentally made two entries, not knowing any better. Thanks for letting me know of my mistake, and I will be more careful in the future. - hmwithtalk 18:26, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Lsi john 18:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's time.

Sorry I have not responded, I have been kinda busy with tech week. Yes, I think you are ready to graduate from adoption, you have made great strides, and you are a wonderful editor. Please contact me if you ever have any questions! Cheers, wpktsfs 01:09, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption templates

Hi. I notice that when you offered to adopt User:Groovydude777, you didn't change the {{adoptme}} template to {{adoptoffer}}. I've done this for you, but in the future, please try to remember to change it when you make the offer. Also, if and when User:Groovydude777 accepts, please change it to {{adoptee}}. Thanks! --Sopoforic 12:02, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for changing that for me. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to do that or not. Thanks again! - hmwithtalk 12:37, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

I accept your offer for being my adopter. Just wanted to let you know. I have a great interest in wikipedia and wish to be more experienced. Groovydude777 14:02, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! You're actually my first adoptee, so I'm very excited. I see that you love userboxes. I do too (see my userbox page). I also really like your taste in music.
When I first joined Wikipedia, the things that I had the most trouble with were citing references correctly, knowing what is and what is not "fair use" for non-free images, and remembering to use edit summaries.
If you have any questions about any of these topics or anything else, feel free to ask me, as I'll be sure to help right away, because I'm usually on Wikipedia every few hours (I'm pretty addicted).
I'm glad that you decided to join the Wikipedia community, and I look forward to checking out your contributions. - hmwithtalk 17:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well... i appreciate the comments... I have a couple of questions though:

I have been on wikipedia for a while and i still don't quite know alot about it... I've made a couple of edits even before i actually created an account, but never created my own articles or anything. either way, I heard that there were a couple of things that you should do before editing, like let everyone know that you are going to do it, or can i do it without permission? just wondering. anyway, just enjoying being adopted. Groovydude777 17:13, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's never mandatory to do anything before you make an edit. If it's a minor edit, such as a typo, change in wording, or a grammar fix, just make the changes. As with larger edits, you can always be bold in making changes, as long as they have a neutral point of view and are in good faith, but it's advised that if you are making an extensive edit, such as completely rewriting a page, or the edit something on a controversial topic, it should usually be discussed on the talk page of the article, asking if anyone agree or objects to your proposition. - hmwithtalk 17:19, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Groovy! cool, thanks!

just to let you know. i like to talk, so feel free to talk to me. - Groovydude777 17:26, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's a good thing... because so do I. Out have curiosity, do you mind if I ask the country in which you live? - hmwithtalk 17:37, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

United States of America. And you? Groovydude777 18:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Same (Ohio). - hmwithtalk 18:29, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I should have known that, so note to self... pay more attention ... Cool!

I am just curious, How did you find Wikipedia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Groovydude777 (talk)

Years ago, I noticed that Wikipedia would always come up as one of the first search results while doing research for projects. I eventually began to use it as my primary source in many papers, began making edits to the site, then, finally, made an account a few months ago. And you? - hmwithtalk 18:39, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basically the same. I forgot the exact situation since it's been so long ago. But i've been on it alot. I normally don't spend this much time on a computer but I like learning alot of stuff. Anyway, I created an account very recently only because I just didn't know if there were going to be any benefits from joining a site like this, but after a while I gained an affinity for it. then I learned that I didn't have to start on Wikipedia alone, I could get adopted. so i joined... and bam! A day later, I'm adopted. - Groovydude777 19:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How are things coming along? I see that you've been making use of the Sandbox, which is a very useful space. If you want, you can actually create your own sandbox at User:Groovydude777/sandbox, so your edits will not be messed up by others or if you don't want something to be as public. I did that, as I usually test major rewrites and create new article there first, then copy/paste the text into the article. That can't be done in the main sandbox, because your edits will be deleted/changed in a few minutes. - hmwithtalk 04:33, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah about the block... I Logged onto an IP Address that apparently had a block, and i really needed to edit something so I guess I created a little ruckus. I'm not blocked now.- Groovydude777 14:07, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just curious... how do you make a sandbox?- Groovydude777 14:14, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay. Well, I'm glad everything is alright. Click this red link: User:Groovydude777/sandbox, and put anything in the textbox as if you were editing an article, and save it. There, it's created. It's actually that easy. That's how you create all new pages on Wikipedia, actually. - hmwithtalk 16:36, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why not be a bit more explicit in the Copthorne Talk page about your concerns, and what you think needs referencing, as simply marking the whole article as 'Unreferenced' is inadequate, and perhaps even inaccurate. Alastair Cutting 23:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is not one citation in the entire article. It does need citations, especially in the history section. I also posted this on the talk page. - hmwithtalk 03:51, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article is based on the local history book mentioned in the article. The links internality to wiki, and externally, also link back to verify a number of the statements. Alastair Cutting 13:04, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete the Flip Coaster page?

The page was cited and everything, what caused the rukus on this? I'm not getting what was wrong here. Ryanellenburg —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ryanellenburg (talkcontribs) 22:39, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I did not delete the Flip Coaster page. Only an administrator can delete/reinstate a page, and I am just a regular editor, like you. I'm sorry that you're upset about the deletion. It was probably deleted due to lack of notability and references, which are the reasons I nominated it. If you have questions about it, contact an admin. You can go here: "Why was my page deleted?" to get answers to your questions.
‘’Note:’’ Please start all new topics at the bottom of talk pages, per Wikipedia policy. Also, sign all of your posts on talk pages with four tildes, like this ~~~~. - hmwithtalk 22:46, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I tried to delete the comment on your page because I noticed the admin did it. Sorry bout dat. I am wondering though why you thought there were no references, as I did provide the DrinkingGameRules page. It's a relatively new game, first I've heard of it at least, so I thought I would help spread it out. You seem to have experience with Wikipedia before, so any constructive criticism to help make the page better I would really appreciate. Thanks, and oh yeah, sorry about the User Talk thing too... I'm learning here. Ryanellenburg 23:18, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries or apologies needed. I know you're new, so I just gave a tip, and, now, you know. I was new, too, only a few months ago. First, there are many, random, unreliable games on that website. Secondly, you cite a reference like this: <ref>http:www.reference.com</ref>, where "reference" is the actual website". You put that at the end of a sentence, phrase, or section. - hmwithtalk 23:22, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea... I was actually looking at other drinking games pages and sort of using them as a template (in which they had none of the references in the style you mentioned). I appreaciate the help there. Good to know there's another Libertarian Republican out there takin' care of things. Go FairTax! Ryanellenburg 23:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really? Which drinking games did you use at templates? And "yay" for Libertarian Republicans! - hmwithtalk 23:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think I used the most cliche drinking game of them all (A-hole). Tried to go off the flip cup one as they are similar in that they actually require some sort of physical involvement. But the Flip Coaster one had a ton of info and pictures. A-hole was a bit more simple with a few pictures, so I tried working off that to begin with. Ryanellenburg 23:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ultra Game word replacement

Sorry, I replaced your word with "Circus Peanuts" (I was not logged in at the time). The reason I did was because someone went through and removed it. I'm assuming because "Sugar" was played twice and they removed "Sugar" and a word played off of it. For some reason "Circus Peanuts" was removed, too (I'm assuming it's an error), but the word had already been played. It was not dependent on "Sugar" and should not have been removed.Squad51 01:54, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Macintosh

To update your disclaimer, your page looks fine on my MacBook. I checked it in Firefox and Safari, and used different sized windows, it looks good. Always, --wpktsfs 23:25, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good. I checked it on my mom's home computer, with a normal, non-laptop-sized screen, and it was completely distorted. Things that were supposed to be side-by-side were above/below each other. I was very upset. I'd still want to personally check it out to see if it's the same on there as it is on my laptop, because, although it may not looked messed-up, it may not look the way it was intended - hmwithtalk 23:54, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How do you make your own custom signature? - Groovydude777 17:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go to "my preferences" (up top, to the right of "my talk", and the left of "my watchlist". There is a box next to "Signature". You enter whatever you want to be your signature there. I would test around a lot in your sandbox to make sure what you like.
If you put the link in the signature yourself, click "Raw signature". If not, don't click that. Hope this helps! - hmwithtalk

Questions

Okay, first i want to ask how to make a custom signature... I figured it out but at first it said to check my html tags, What is that? I don't know too much about html, so if you could give me a little rundown that would be cool.

Second, what is an abusive administrator? Thanks - Groovydude777 17:11, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's nice to hear from you!
(A) To make a custom signature, yes, you must use html. It controls the font type, color, size, background, etc. For a basic signature, I'd use:

<span style="font-family:FONT"><span style="color:#COLORCODE;">SIGNATURE</span></span>

If you want the links to stay a certain color (instead of the default link color), use:

<span style="font-family:FONT">[[User:Groovydude777|<span style="color:#COLORCODE;">Groovydude777</span>]]</span>

You seem to have gotten your signature working pretty well. What else would you like to change about it? I'll be more than willing to help. I became a master at html after being addicted to MySpace a few years ago (passed that now, however).
Tip: You may already know this, but, for more color choices, follow this link to use "html color codes". For example, instead of having <span style="color:blue">, you could use <font color=#0276FD> or another variation of blue.
Let me know with what exactly you would like help!
(B) An abusive administrator is, in my words, an administrator who abuses his/her power, by doing things such as putting down or take advantage of other editors, giving out unwarranted blocks/deletions, or otherwise interfering with the Wikipedian processes.
I hope all of this helps. Feel free to contact me again, especially about the html. - hmwithtalk 00:37, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wait! I know with what you probably had trouble. Make sure that you close all tags that you open. If you have 3 <span>'s in your sig, make sure that you have 3 </span>'s, as well. hmwithtalk 15:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tangotango Milestone

Hi Hmwith! For a while, the toolserver (m:Toolserver) has had limited or no coverage of the English Wikipedia, due to the sheer enormity of the database and the performance penalties incurred copying the database to the toolserver. As you can see at the bottom of my tools, the toolserver is currently experiencing a "replication lag" of over 34 days for the English Wikipedia (meaning that the snapshot of the English Wikipedia on the toolserver is 34 days old), and much of the older data may also be corrupt. Since you created your account on 29 March, in the eyes of the toolserver, your account and edits do not exist yet (theoretically, it should, but the data is probably missing). A new toolserver for the English Wikipedia is on its way, which will hopefully fix this issue; however, given that this problem has existed for close to a year, I wouldn't hold your breath :-) Cheers, and thanks for using my tools, Tangotango (talk) 05:34, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you answers. I think it's a very great, interesting tool, and I hope that I can use it someday! - hmwithtalk 15:33, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Question

Hi hmwith, it's Meldshal42. I just have to ask a very quick question. When you're making your span style for your signature; what would be a good choice for the spanstyle? Thanks... Meldshal42

For the background and text color? Anything will work, as long as the text color is significantly lighter/darker than the background color, so it's readable. Your userpage colors would work, too:

That makes Meldshal42
You can work with that, if you would like. I hope this helps, and let me know if you would like any more help. Happy Wikying! - hmwithtalk 15:43, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It still doesn't work. See? <nowiki><span style="background: darkgreen; color: orange; padding: 2px;">[[User:Meldshal42|<span style="color: orange; padding: 2px;">Meldshal42</span></span></font></nowiki>]] 01:16, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Problem

Hi. For some reason, when I put that in as my signature; it comes out as just the words. Do I have to remove something; or add something? Thanks Meldshal42

Did you copy the code uptop, or did you copy it in edit mode? Make sure that you don't include the < nowiki > and < /nowiki >. hmwithtalk 05:19, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Look what happens. I copied the paste without < nowiki > and now, my signature is this! [[User:Meldshal42|<span style="background: darkgreen; color: orange; padding: 2px;">Meldshal42</span></span></font>]] 09:54, 21 May 2007 (UTC) I'm gonna try it again. They get messed up sometimes. Here, use:

Thanks. Meldshal42

Congrats!

I am glad you have made so much progress! You are a fine editor! --wpktsfs 02:36, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You make me giggly for awarding me a barnstar!! Thank you so much! Groovydude777 18:54, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flip coaster, continued

[This was copied from an accidental post on my archive page]

I think I used the most cliche drinking game of them all (A-hole). Tried to go off the flip cup one as they are similar in that they actually require some sort of physical involvement. But the Flip Coaster one had a ton of info and pictures. A-hole was a bit more simple with a few pictures, so I tried working off that to begin with. Ryanellenburg 23:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, Asshole needed help. Look at it now. I actually fixed it, and added references. Formerly, it had none.
Also, for future reference, don't edit talk page archives. Rather, comment on the current talk page. hmwithtalk 00:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TW Problem

The answer to your problem is here. --R ParlateContribs@ (Red Sux!) 11:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It works now! Thank you so much. hmwithtalk 20:02, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Undeletion

I restored the five pages. (Be sure to remove the tags : - ) .) Cheers. --MZMcBride 20:21, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and the pages User:Hmwith/facts, User:Hmwith/contributions, User:Hmwith/pictures, User:Hmwith/userboxes, and User:Hmwith/wikiprojects got deleted too because those pages were transcluded on them I think. Could you restore those, as well? Thanks again, and sorry! hmwithtalk 20:27, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for being understanding. You're a great admin! =) Happy Wikiying! hmwithtalk 20:31, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm...

Why isn't Twinkle working? I'm confused. Could ya help me? - Groovydude777 14:38, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only difference I see if that I have a space before the very first line of my script, and you don't. Do you not see extra tabs after the "history" and "move" tabs on top of articles? hmwithtalk 14:48, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, just the Watch/Unwatch tabs. What do you think that i should do? - Groovydude777 14:57, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What browser do you use? hmwithtalk 15:02, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Internet Explorer. - Groovydude777 15:03, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ooooooooh! I doesn't work on IE. Nevermind, sorry! hmwithtalk 15:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grrr. so what would you suggest? - Groovydude777 15:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Get Firefox! I had always used IE, and refused to use anything else, until IE7 came out. I tried Firefox, got addicted, and now, there is nothing else I can stand. hmwithtalk 15:08, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as opposed to the changing of the Internet browsers, what would you suggest as an vandalism reverter, for IE(if any, any good at least)? - Groovydude777 15:13, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No scripts work for IE at all, since it's designed so you can use scripts on it, so you'd have to use a new browser or AmiDaniel/VandalProof, which is actually a browser in itself. Sorry! hmwithtalk 15:18, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. i didn't know how much IE sucked. well, when i get the chance(which won't be very soon) I will change my browser to Firefox... until then i will wallow in the shadow of my own pity. lol, just kidding. Thanks for telling me all of this info. - Groovydude777 15:22, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

I would love to be adopted!!! Clen_17 06:48, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm thrilled. Thank you for accepting my offer! hmwithtalk 13:56, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you enjoy taking pictures, and you have uploaded several images. This is great. I feel that Wikipedia needs more images, and you are positively contributing to the community. You've set down a great base for a successful experience here.
If you don't mind, are you willing to share you age range and country? This will help me to know how to best help you. If you feel uncomfortable sharing any of that with me, please, please do not, as it won't affect anything too greatly. As you can see on my userpage, I am young adult from the US. If you would like to know me about me, you can visit User:hmwith/about.
If you need any help on anything, obviously, feel free to ask. I'm on Wikipedia several times a day... probably to an unhealthy level. I am very knowledgeable of HTML and Wikitext, and I love to participate in Wikiprojects, which I highly recommend. I also use anti-vandalism tools to revert vandalism, which I also recommend if you are interested in combating vandalism.
If you need to view links to many useful places here, see User:hmwith/links for my most-used links.
I am very excited to have adopted you, as you are only the second editor I have adopted, and I hope that you enjoy the community here, and choose to stay, become an experienced editor yourself, and, eventually, adopt yourself!
I look forward from hearing back from you, and happy Wikiying in the mean time. hmwithtalk 14:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Guster-band-rp01.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Guster-band-rp01.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 05:47, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You should find the original uploader. I just cropped a white border off of the edges of the image, then put it back in the article. Once the original image w/ the border became orphaned, it must have been deleted, so I don't know who the uploader is. I'm not the original uploader of this picture. hmwithtalk 16:30, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination

Hi Hayley,

Thank you very much for my nomination. I personally feel, however, that I am not prepared for adminship quite yet. Good luck with your nomination. --wpktsfs 00:49, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the looks of it, I haven't been a registered user for long enough, but thanks! hmwithtalk 01:56, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look here... He is a very good editor and should be a big help if he accepts. Write him a little note telling him about yourself. --wpktsfs 02:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have thought about it, and I came to the conclusion, why not? You have my support! Good Luck! --wpktsfs 22:48, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE RfA

That's OK. Unfortunately some people seem to have very arbitrary standards at RfA; personally I was opposed on my (successful) RfA for having controversial political userboxes and for having admitted that I wanted to be an admin. :-) Don't worry if you don't pass this time; I failed my first RfA before succeeding the second time round, and I'll be happy to give you any help and advice you need. Reminder, don't forget to sign AfD's --Whsitchy 16:06, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doing a bunch right now, and I accidently forgot to type it in one. That's the first time I've ever done that, but thanks for letting me know, so I could fix it! hmwithtalk 16:07, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rfa

Hey there, I noticed this (accidental) edit made by you. Could you please explain? I am all confused... PeaceNT 16:17, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So am I. I moved a date that got messed up there, at the bottom. As for the top, I must have accidentally highlighted that part of text up top, and merged two comments together. That's my best guess. That's never happened before, and thanks for bringing it to my attention. Oops! hmwithtalk 16:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please fix it now :) No worries. Wish you the best of luck! PeaceNT 16:24, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's been taken care of. Thanks again! hmwithtalk 16:40, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

You're welcome. Your RfA hasn't finished, has it? Nice of you to thank me now, certainly something original =D G1ggy! 04:33, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it hasn't yet finished (not until June 3), but I just appreciate all advice and constructive criticism aimed to help me become a better contributor. hmwithtalk 04:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Hmwith. Yeah, I'm sorry to have opposed you, but Adminship is a serious thing. Your a good editor, and I'd really encourage you to go for another RfA in the future. My advise: learn from this. I'm very close to running myself and every mistake is a valuable lesson. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 04:40, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I second those comments. If you had given it a little long, you would've breezed through, because you are a great candidate. Not saying you won't pass now, but I don't think it's likely. Anyway, be sure to give it another shot soon. As for Dfrg.msc, I was surprised you weren't already one...you certainly have my support! G1ggy! 01:37, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nudge nudge

....you've got question 8 to answer on your RfA! Ryan Postlethwaite 23:17, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took care of it. The only reason that I didn't sooner is that I wasn't home. Thanks for reminding me! hmwithtalk 05:14, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese username

I think the translation of your name in Chinese was wrong on your userpage. The words on your page means "redirect" instead of your name. The correct translation of Hayley would be "海莉".

By the way, why you, as a Libertarian, would vote for Rudy Giuliani. During his tenure in New York he escalated the War on Drugs and arrested all teenagers who draw graffiti on walls. Personally, for Repubs Mark Sanford would be my choice and for Dems Obama would be the best. Cheers! WooyiTalk to me? 23:51, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I made a mistake, obviously, and I appreciate your correction. Thanks again! hmwithtalk 05:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool Cat MFD on DRV

Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 May 30#Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Cool Cat -- Ned Scott 05:18, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

email - CharlotteWebb's suggestion

It was recommended that you enable your email so that if you become an admin, users that you blocked can communicate with you. - TwoOars 05:22, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I enabled it. Thanks! hmwithtalk 05:24, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. And another thing. I meant to post this after your reply to Nae'blis on your RfA but then thought that discussions on your oppose comments on some other RfA do not belong on your RfA.. I don't see anything sneaky in what Clamster5 did. His conversation is there on his and his nominator's talk page for all to see. This is more transparent than people discussing it on email (which happens often, as I understand it). Besides, you could have worded your comments on the Clamster5 RfA a little differently. - TwoOars 05:29, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was standing up for myself. The user had no policy supporting his reasons for opposing me, and I even openly claimed that "this is my opinion". hmwithtalk 05:34, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course its your opinion, no one is denying your right to have one. Thats why I wanted to discuss it with you to make you see (what I think is) reason. :) There was no policy in that oppose by Nae'blis, just that you might need a bit more "seasoning". You come off as a bit touchy when responding to criticism (like your latest response to the "too keen to get the mop" statement). But hey, I am supporting you, ain't I? :) - TwoOars 05:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, yes, but that's my only touchy response, as I did nothing to presume that. It seems that he just assumes that because I've had an account for almost 3 months I'm too new, and am merely "too keen to get the mop". It upsets me, as I am not a stereotype. hmwithtalk 05:43, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I am real sorry that I have to do this, am changing to Neutral. After taking another look at your reaction to TigerShark, I can not in all honesty support you. Its just that you need to be much more thick skinned than that and moderate your reactions. Sorry again. - TwoOars 05:54, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What did I do? I felt that I was very polite in response to the user's accusations. I simply asked for a response, as to why he claimed that. If it's valid, it's valid, it's valid, and I obviously would not argue it. I was simply wondering what it was, so I could be aware in the future as to what I did? hmwithtalk 05:58, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, it was a lot of things. I had no problem with your short time on wikipedia but i thought the tone of your comments showed a lack of experience. If you were so "upset" by TigerShark's comments, it would be tougher on you when you face real accusations as an admin. I am real sorry I shifted my stance midway. Good luck! :) - TwoOars 06:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know that I would face "real accusations as an admin", and I would always ask why an accusations were made then, just like now. It's not out of line to ask why a user has made an accusation against you. hmwithtalk 06:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. But I have reservations about the tone and wording, not the content of your statements. You mean well but i think the way you word your comments may escalate rather than de-escalate a situation. Maybe it is just me. - TwoOars 06:31, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm very sorry to have lost your "!vote" (no worries, as I'm well aware that it's not a real vote, but I'll use the word for lack of a better term), as it's such a close thing. I completely see what you say now, and I will try to correct this. Thanks for letting me know of about it, and I will definitely make sure not to do this again. I will actually go back and reword the statement now. Cheers. hmwithtalk 12:39, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thats great. :) And you have stayed calm throughout my criticism, with my nitpicking and all. I hope you'll be through in this RfA. Good luck. - TwoOars 18:35, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Hi there; I have inserted a question on your RfA page; question 6. Do not, please, overlook it.--Anthony.bradbury 18:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed my !vote to support. I think that your chance of success this time is, I regret, marginal, though I wish you well. Should you not succeed this time I hope that you will reapply in 2 or 3 months, when you will surely cruise home. --Anthony.bradbury 22:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for your support! Yeah, I've only truly been denied simply for time spent under a username, so it seems that I would surely pass right through in another few months. I really hope that it goes through, since I will have an extreme amount of free time during the summer. Anyways, happy Wikying! hmwithtalk 22:35, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
