Slash Album

Hi,

You removed the negative review of Slash's album from Tickets There without explanation.

Of course, the listing is for professional reviews, the site you provided doesnt seem professional in the slightest especially with the reviewer stating "Myles Kennedy’s whining, pussy vocals ruin it. Like a pre-pubescent Chad Kroeger impersonating Robert Plant and later in the song, the one and only Axl Rose. Wonder why?" And like I said in my edit, not every review should be on there, only ones from the likes of Allmusic, Rolling Stone or any other reliable online publications not some blogger type site. Also how can you say the rest of the site is if this is the type of people working for it?

But thats my opinion anyway, I wont revert it again, but I think you should take it into account should someone else remove the review.HrZ (talk) 12:45, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

I think that's fair enough. I read the site regularly and it's normally alot less harsh on bands, reviewer seems to really dislike the record. I only reverted because I see you edit alot of GN'R related pages so I thought it was a fan.

If another editor reverts, we won't fight it.

If it gets a bad review, nothing I can do, Allmusic (while they havnt given their usually star ratings) have criticized the album as well. It wont effect my opinion either way if I enjoy it.

Thats basically how I started on Wiki, mainly Loaded/Duff McKagan related articles but I try and do others, revert vandalisms etc like other editors as well when I can. But I can see why you would think that. Anyway thanks for understanding. HrZ (talk) 13:00, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Paradise City

The writing credits for all "Appetite" songs has been given to all band-members at the time... Steven owns 15 % of the writing credits...--Arneandre (talk) 15:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Check the Appetite for Destruction page again... This is taken from credits section: "All songs credited to Guns N' Roses; "It's So Easy" co-credited to West Arkeen and "Anything Goes" co-credited to Chris Weber.[24] Actual writers and composers listed."... If all songs are credited to Guns N' Roses, It means they are credited to Axl, Slash, Izzy Duff AND Steven... When they say "Actual writers" it is not an "official" writing credit...

Besides you could look at the book inside the Guns N' Roses Greates Hits Album, there Paradise City's writing is also credited to Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff Makagan and Steven Adler

One more thing... Slash also says so in his Autobiography.... and Steven sued Guns N' Roses, because they tryed to take his writing credits away from him, when they fired him... GnR lost the case, and Steven was promised 15% writing credit on every song he recorded with them besore his depature--Arneandre (talk) 17:56, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

This Is War

If it was vandalism another editor would have removed it by now. The consensus seems to be discussing the overall genre of the band, not the album and also it doesnt seem like they came to a conclusion. Quote from tail end of the discussion: "All you are giving is opinions. Your opinion. Which doesn't count for anything. Just as my opinion counts for nothing. What matters is policy and guideline. This states that reliably sourced info is entirely worthy of inclusion. Consensus is not a vote. It doesn't matter how many people don't want to see 30STM labeled as emo - as their only argument is their opinion. All that matters is that the genre is reliably sourced. Which it is."

Allmusic is a reliable source (wither you agree or not), they list the albums styles as Emo-pop which redirects to Emo. Removing said source is vandalism. HrZ (talk) 13:30, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Maybe you don't understand, you read only that you want to read; "Whether an Allmusic profile includes "emo" in its list of bullet-pointed genres and styles is secondary to whether the writer actually describes the artist/album as "emo" in the text of their bio/review. You can be accussed of the same thing, same editor as the one you quoted: "As for Allmusic, regardless of your opinion they are widely recognized as a "reliable, published, third-party sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy", with many published volumes on music history and recordings in addition to the information available on their website. Both the Musicians and Albums projects regard Allmusic as a reliable source. For the record, however, we hardly ever go by the bulleted genre classifications on the left side of their pages; we place much more weight on the comments made by the actual reviewer. If a review or biography on Allmusic describes an album or artist as emo, that's what we're looking for. The genre classifications and the bios/reviews are not written by the same people, and the latter carry a lot more weight than the former."

Nothing there that says it can't be used as a source, simply not prefered by them and prefer to take it from the review itself. Doesnt say it cant be though. As for the review itself, it doesnt say anywhere that the "album isn't emo". If you are meaning "Emotional bloodletting never quite fit 30 Seconds to Mars" that is pretty thin considering he could mean any number of things such as 30STM never suited being an emo band (admitting that they did try and be one) to anything else. Also, I did not add the genre, just don't see why it should be removed, you said there had been a "consensus" over the source however I still fail to see it probably because they didnt come to one (also I see 30STM is still on the list of emo artists with the same source that they apparently came to a consensus about [1]) and again no editor seems to have undone my revert of the removal of the genre (or accused me of vandalising the page). If another (established) editor removes it with good reason, I wont add it back but until then, Im not removing it. HrZ (talk) 13:00, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

The exact genre shouldn't be mentioned in the lead sentence; that's what the infobox is for. The lead sentence also seemed to drag on. As for the commas/periods thing, check here:

Copy-edit of Slash's Snakepit

I've finished with my revision of the article you requested. Nothing too drastic was changed, though I did fix some of your quotes - when you quote a sentence, you don't need to use square brackets to bring the initial capital down to lower-case (such as "[n]othing too drastic..."). Square brackets in quotes indicate a change, generally replacing context-specific words ("my" for "[his]", etc), rather than parsing. It helps neaten things to just bring the case down without the brackets, That aside, the only thing I would recommend is to add the singles into the discography section. L.A. Guns

So, we've recently been having a back-and-forth about Chad Stewart and Jeremy Guns leaving the Tracii Guns lineup of L.A. Guns. You don't like my sources, but I think we should change it anyways. While I happen to completely disagree with you, I understand your reasoning, and I think I have found a solution that should make us both happy. You originally said "Social networking sites are not reliable sources. Please find a reliable third-party source for the changes." However, according to WP:SOCIALMEDIA, "...pages on social networking sites such as Twitter or Facebook should only be used to support personal information about subjects—in articles about those subjects—if the page is confirmed by another source, such as the subject's website, as belonging to the subject. When such authentication is not possible, pages on social networking sites should not be used." So if you can confirm that a Facebook account is a person's official account, then it can be considered a reliable source. On Tracii Guns's official website, it links to his official Facebook page. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this means that the Facebook page can be considered a reliable source for the change. Woknam66 (talk) 15:10, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

However, we should refrain from continuing to use Facebook as a source so often, per WP:SOCIALMEDIA, "the article is not based primarily on such sources." Also, with lineup changes frequent with L.A.
