[edit]

Dear I dream of horses, thank you very much fr your kind greeting, and the platter of cookies. Those look good!

Anyhow, I wish to ask your guidance with several photograph issues I've had with two of my articles, namely Rubén González Cárdenas and César González Martínez

Me and my family have in our possession a great deal of photographic documentation regarding the aforementioned subjects, being respectively my great grandfather and grandfather. Some of those photographs were uploaded by me unto wikicommons and were later deleted under copyright issues.

The matter is currently being reviewed by someone on wikicommons, but it worries me that, as I understand it, no photographs more recent than 120 years old are allowed because "Someone might claim copyrighted ownership". I understand the USA is very prone to demands and legal suits, but isn't that a bit too much?

My point, really, is that I seek guidance. How may I upload these photos, which are part of my family's legacy and heritage, but which were taken by unknown photographers and even under Public Service situations? (my grandfather was, among other things, a Venezuelan Minister and ambassador to the US, so many public appearances were photographed...) I wish to publish these photos, and to correctly satisfy admin's concerns about copyrighting. Any ideas or recommendations for future reference?

Thank you very much and very best regards.

@Joedelaselva: I dream of horses is on holiday until August 8 and may not be able to answer your enquiry until then. I am unsure of this, but you can ask at the Teahouse at WP:Teahouse/Questions if you would like an answer sooner. Rubbish computer 18:04, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Joedelaselva: Sorry for the delayed response. Like Rubbish computer said, I was on vacation.
Unfortunately, this isn't an overreaction. Not only could we get into some legal trouble, unless the photographer (or a representative of the photographer) comes forward and waives a pretty significant amount of copyright--most photos on Wikipedia I can legally put on a t-shirt and sell, so long I attribute the photographer--it can also be hard to know that you are who you say are. So, "I know/knew the photographer, and know the photographer is/would've been okay with this" isn't enough. I dream of horses (T) @ 00:29, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Dream of Horses,

I just saw the comments to clean up the page. Can you take a look at the result? Any more edits needed?

Thank you,

Barry McNamee deletion

[edit]

I am not pleased that you deleted my work when I created the Barry McNamee page I don't see why this had to be deleted. Please get back to me ASAP to let me know the reason why. Adam Mc Gonagle (talk) 15:35, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Adam Mc Gonagle: I didn't delete your page--in fact, I didn't even nominate your page for deletion. JamesBWatson deleted your page, and that's who you need to talk to. --I dream of horses (T) @ 22:07, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I dream of horses never edited the article at all, nor its talk page, nor Adam Mc Gonagle's talk page, and as far as I can see has never had any interaction of any sort with Adam Mc Gonagle except for the two messages above, so I am at a total loss as to why Adam Mc Gonagle thought that I dream of horses had anything to do with the deletion. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 20:49, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@JamesBWatson: I, too, am a bit confused as to why Adam Mc Gonagle was asking me, of all people; however, I didn't think much of it, since I am frequently approached by newer editors. --I dream of horses (T) @ 00:30, 17 August 2015 (UTC) (finished fixing message at 00:31, 17 August 2015 (UTC))[reply]

not spam

[edit]

The article I am reverting is not spam. it is generic details about gold dipped roses. They are not of any brand. If you think a link is spam remove it but why are you removing everything and not even replying to me --Dreamoholic123 (talk) 05:49, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Dreamoholic123: If you had read the edit notice, you'd know why it has taken me "so long" to get back to you; I was busy running huggle.
It wasn't a link--it was the entire tone of the article (ie, saying "our", etc.) --I dream of horses (T) @ 06:04, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
ok fine. I will remove that "our" tone. If you find anything else you can correct it but there is no need to remove. It does not promote any single brand. Our art, if you read meant "our art" in human history. But ok i am changing it. --Dreamoholic123 (talk) 06:20, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stale AIV reports

[edit]

Didn't realise that removing "stale reports" extended to editors who'd passed a final warning (rather than just for "stop this relentless IP now" requests where the IP stopped hours ago). Was my report removed in error? If not, what does that actually mean for the report I raised - do I need to escalate it somewhere else? --McGeddon (talk) 23:02, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@McGeddon: You are more than welcome to add back the report if necessary. It might, however, be usually inadvisable to revert a removal of stale reports outright (through rollback, undo, etc.) --I dream of horses (T) @ 01:34, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I dream of horses. I G4 tagged Ultra.Weekend 2 and saw you had spend a minute editing it. There is a script, User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js that is very useful. Hello I dream of horses,

I created this page as this author's work is well known and respected and her personal life has made her more of a public figure than many writers. Please let me know what edits you suggest, I see you do your research and I'm impressed!

Thanks-- future wikipedian — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lisaraden0808 (talkcontribs) 06:58, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Lisaraden0808: I first noticed that Jersey92 nominated it for speedy deletion just the day before, with DGG, someone notoriously reluctent to delet and read more closely. I thenI felt as though there wasn't a claim to significance, and that's why I put up a CSD tag. --I dream of horses (T) @ 07:06, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

Hi,

I think you can help me.

In this article Kingsley Coman I'd like to change Coman's apps in the cell that is in the "Other2" column and in the "Juventus 2015-16" line, but I don't now how to split the existing cell into two separate cells.

How can I do it?

The end result would be "apps 1" "goals 0"

Help me!

[edit]

Hi, Thanks for contacting me after I made that edit about the Martha Washington Geranium on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martha_Washington . I think I would like to be adopted as you suggest but I have not heard from the adopter I asked. Are you an adopter? I took a class about 3 years ago about wikipedia and found it interesting but this is only one of a very few edits I have made. I am quite unsure of myself and need some expert guidance. Ohsuzanna150 (talk) 22:29, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ohsuzanna150: I am not a formal "adopter". However, I am always open to being asked questions. Just keep trying to look for a mentor if you want one. I dream of horses (T) @ 22:59, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RFA, if you like

[edit]

I notice that you've done superlative work and have quite extensive experience in vandalism control, typo fixing, and XFD processes. I would like to nominate you for adminship. There is, however, a potential snag: it has become a somewhat common practice to oppose RFAs due to lack of extensive de novo content creation, regardless of the quality and extent of the candidate's contributions in other areas. The recent success of Wbm1058's RFA is encouraging in this respect, and suggests that you have a significant probability of passing RFA anyway, especially as your edit count is approximately 3.34 times Wbm1058's. Alternatively, you could try your hand at creating new content prior to running for adminship. The difficultly here would be that all of the low hanging fruit is already taken. Articles on major subjects are almost always in either a stable state which is difficult to dislodge, or a state of continuous conflict in which improvements won't stick. Thus, content creation usually requires an idiosyncratic choice of topics. For instance, I was able to start Fiorella Mattheis only because almost all of the available sources are in Portuguese. I could select the images for White people because a rather strange confluence of events had left a major article essentially without illustration. I wrote proofs for Cardinality of the continuum because the relative obscurity and difficulty of the topic had left important results proofless. Wikipedia has much unconquered territory, if you look hard enough. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. DavidLeighEllis (talk) 06:17, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@DavidLeighEllis: I'll decline the offer, for now. You seemed to put a lot of thought in this, though; thanks for that. I dream of horses (T) @ 11:10, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
