Plays

I'm not trying to make a fuss. I was just wondering if the adaptations section mentions plays multiple times, if we should add a play category.MagicatthemovieS (talk)MagicatthemovieS

Sources which discuss Dracula do not make constant reference to its few play adaptations. It isn't a defining characteristic of the novel. Its adaptation into films is essential—it’s how the character has become so ubiquitous. But the plays are not that notable and mentioned in only a few histories. Category bloat is a real thing and it’s the thing on-wiki that I'm most sensitive about. — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 18:00, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Samsung browser question

You wouldn't happen to know the user agent? I assume Wikipedia is erroneously not detecting it as a "mobile" browser and is serving the web version. (you can tell from the URL) On en.m.wiki, the image sections are all converted to be the full width; it actually reads better for me than the desktop view. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 22:09, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

@: Hi! Thanks for checking in. There's two main issues on the browser, but it’s definitely not the mobile thing. I do have it configured to prefer the mobile versions of sites. Here's one example where text becomes unreadable: Link. I've had a look on Chrome and on my iOS devices and it looks like this is purely a problem with Samsung's browser, so maybe a rendering issue? — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 22:12, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
I'm out of the business of diagnosing errors on non-Google/Apple mobile web browsers. If it's not the mobile client detection (and the screenshot shows it isn't that) I have no ideas, sorry. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 22:15, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Scrappy Doo Reversion

Why? Unexplained deletion and now with secondary source.Smcupcake19 (talk) 02:07, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Dracula

As long as the material gets reused elsewhere, I don’t have a problem with that. Perhaps, in a spinoff/section, we could do something on translations in general. I imagine there’s something interesting to be said about the German (1908), Russian (1912), French (1920) or Japanese (1956) versions.

I noticed the same author later wrote a book, The Dracula Dilemma: Tourism, Identity and the State in Romania, about Romania’s ambivalent relationship with Dracula. Anyway, more remains to be done. — Biruitorul Talk 22:11, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

@Biruitorul: It’s possible that Translations of Dracula, an article we could make, could be a great home for more detail instead? There's loads more information about the Icelandic version of the novel that would fit there. The parts which jump out at me as being useful for Dracula is the part about communist Romania. The novel is widely cited as critical of capitalism and aristocracy, so this is kinda fascinating. That book could be a great resource, so I'll research the author's pedigree and, if it’s solid, I'm excited to add the new stuff! Sorry again about reverting. I hate doing it and it makes me feel like an asshole. — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 22:17, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
”Translations” seems like a worthy project This list looks impressive. Of course not every translation will be equally significant, but it makes for a good starting point.
The book is from Routledge and the author seems legitimate, so it should be fine.
I admit, seeing the red “you’ve been reverted” button isn’t my favorite experience, but you’ve explained, we’ve discussed, we have plans to use the material elsewhere — so it’s really not an issue. — Biruitorul Talk 22:43, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
@Biruitorul: Great resource! I'm starting a new job really soon so my time is pretty limited right now, but give me a couple of weeks and we can revisit? The politics section should be extant by then, too. — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 22:48, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Seconded, but don't let the hobby get in the way if you have real life work to do! Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:27, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
I really appreciate both of your kind words, and I'm really looking forward to returning again. — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 17:02, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

About Sessions: Vi in League of Legends

Hi ImaginesTigers,

I don't get aboout the reason for reversion. You reverted the text cause it's "puffery"? If it's that's the case would the better solution to edit and make text/grammar adjustments. Why revert it?

The article is at featured status, so editors (including myself) will be less lenient with what is added to an article and what it is supported by. Please find a neutral, reliable third party source for what you want to add. The article has long-standing issues with editors adding material sourced to (less than neutral) primary materials. — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 14:44, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

A clarification

Hello. Just to be sure you read this, as my reply has been buried in the off-topic discussion, and you might not read it: given the high number of edits (dozens and dozens, I mentioned Fallout 3, Mass Effect) it made more sense to address the user directly so that everyone could consult his history and see the reassessments he made. I say this because of what you pointed out about me and because I care my actions not being seen as something they are not. If you read what I wrote since the beginning I talked only about the edits as they are the focus of the discussion. I don't care about anything else and no one made this thing personal of all people discussing the matter. Except one person. Goodbye. Lone Internaut (talk) 11:32, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Please don't fork the discussion to here. It's clear from that discussion that the whole topic is up for debate. There was a hat note on that discussion for a reason. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:54, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
Moved from user talk:Lee Vilenski
Could you please explain me, this comment? I wasn't even forking the discussion but addressing a point made by ImaginesTigers which I care about. Lone Internaut (talk) 13:02, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
Could you please stop editing hatnoted discussions? If you have an issue with a user's behaviour, you'll have to take it to ANI. Please don't chase this across lots of different pages. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi ImaginesTigers, this may seem a bit random, but, as an aging goth music and horror film obsessive, have been rooting for this to win this years core contest. You are doing just great. Ceoil (talk) 22:22, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

@Ceoil: This is a lovely message to get. Thank you so much! You've brought light to what has been a very long weekend. I really appreciate this, Ceoil, and I'm really proud of the article, too! — ImaginesTigers (talkcontribs) 11:58, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
I saw the dyk nom. Wiki can be cold and thankless for sure. Ceoil (talk) 00:59, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
