Re: disruptive edits

You cautioned me to not make disruptive edits to Die Another Day (song). I would appreciate an explanation as to how my edits were disruptive; they were only meant to correct inaccuracies in the article. I was asked not to stop changing sourced content, so I checked the source and found that it did not support the content. You say that the source states that the musical material can be viewed in the software, but you neglect the fact that a free preview of the entire score is provided, which shows clearly that it sets the song in C-sharp minor, not C minor as stated in the article, and that there is no C minor to G-sharp to C minor to B-flat chord progression as stated in the article. The trouble is that the song, if you listed to it, is clearly in C minor, not C-sharp as the source sets it, so it is not a valid source as to the actual composition of the song (key, chord progresion, vocal range), but can be cited for the tempo. I've explained myself very clearly; it is your reversions that disrupt "progress toward improving an article or building the encyclopedia." --Someoneinmyheadbutit'snotme (talk) 19:15, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Someoneinmyheadbutit you clearly did not check the source or the arrangement details before removing it falsely and disrupting it. I have reverted you twice for the very same reason and although WP:DTR applies, but it did not seem like you were listening. What I feel listening to the song should be its key and all is not relevant at all. What a source calls it based on the key for the musicsheet is what we have to include. —IB [ Poke ] 04:14, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
But the source doesn't say what the article claims anyway. --Someoneinmyheadbutit'snotme (talk) 18:16, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi! You said, "We already have one review from The Guardian, we dont need to bloat up the section". There is also written, "generally favorable reviews". Can some more negative reviews not be added? Because Metacritic has 16 reviews too. The reason I added the review is that there is a wikipage for the critic too; Kitty Empire. It may be notable, Thanks! M. Billoo 10:26, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

@M.Billoo2000:, Alexis Petridis is a much more noted and revered music critic than Ms. Empire who had started as a gossip columnist. Hence per WP:NOTABILITY and WP:UNDUE, we don't need to include two reviews from the same publication. As for including negative reviews, we have the Consequence of Sound as well as we should expand on the review for Pitchfork actually which is kinda mixed. —IB [ Poke ] 10:58, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling / Into The Groove

Hi there, I want to get into a consensus with you about these pages. Dannii Minogue's song "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling" was not written by Madonna. A mash-up, called "Don't Wanna Lose This Groove", released one year after the original song was recorded, does feature elements from "Into The Groove" and samples Madonna's vocals. This mash-up does credit Madonna and Bray as co-writers, but the original does not. I edited Madonna's template page and "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling" songwriters information to reflect that. Also, on "Into The Groove" page, the information that Dannii sampled the song appears twice - first on the opening of the article and later on the cover versions section - and that's reduntant. I edited the page to remove the first mention and added additional information on the cover versions section. I'm not a vandal and my only goal here is to improve quality. English is not my first language, so I'm sure there's a lot of room for improvement on what I do here, but reverting everything feels a bit harsh and disencouraging. Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UltimateDisco (talkcontribs) 14:49, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.--John (talk) 07:36, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

John, apologies for this. My longtime suspicion was confirmed and I have raised a SPI for both the users. —IB [ Poke ] 07:41, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
No problem. Obviously I have no capacity to act as I helped in the peer review and am reviewing at FAC. But it's awkward to try to analyse and improve the article when it is the subject of an edit-war. Whatever your suspicions, good practice points to an RfC, formal or not, at article talk, to determine the best photo. --John (talk) 20:35, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Who's That Girl Soundtrack

Hello IndianBio, I saw you reverted my edits on the Who's That Girl Soundtrack. Did you ever check Discogs on this record? How can it be unreliable when there are even an array of pictures showing the non-promo single releases of "Turn It Up" not only for the USA but also for the UK, Germany and Italy, both in 7" and 12" format. In my opinion it is absolutely proven that this was a regular single release (may it have been limited or not) in the named countries. Please look up here: https://www.discogs.com/de/Michael-Davidson-Turn-It-Up/master/143813, check the images and think it over again.... By the way: How could it have been a No. 15 Billboard dance charts-hit if it wasn't released to the public? Cheers, Purzelbier (talk) 14:49, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

P.S.: "24 Hours" by Duncan Faure was also released as a single - look here: https://www.discogs.com/Duncan-Faure-24-Hours/master/844554. It's kind of funny to me, that vice versa to your opinion the Discogs guidelines tell that Wikipedia is no reliable source of information..... Purzelbier (talk) 14:57, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

P.P.S.: Made another find... Even "El Coco Loco" had a single release... https://www.discogs.com/Coati-Mundi-El-Coco-Loco-So-So-Bad/release/1269461. All those images are no product of my fantasy, they're proof of existing releases.... Purzelbier (talk) 15:09, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Purzelbier, let me take a look at them. Discogs is not a reliable source in terms of main releases and consists of fan/user uploads. —IB [ Poke ] 02:49, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi Purzelbier, here are my findings as listed below:
  • "Turn It Up" was indeed a single, released in early 1988. Please note, promo singles are eligible for charting on Dance Club Songs and that's how "Turn It Up" charted. I have changed the article to reflect that.
  • "El Coco Loco" also seems to be released in separate vinyl edition, but I cannot seem to find whether it was a promo-single or official single or not from any third party source.
  • "24 Hours" was a promo single only. Its promotion as a single was never done by Warner. Duncan's song was released much before it was included in the soundtrack. —IB [ Poke ] 05:57, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
(ETA) Purzelbier, on further research, I found that "Turn It Up" was not a single from the Who's That Girl album. Per this cite: Madonna, the Rolling stone files: the ultimate compendium of interviews, articles, facts, and opinions from the files of Rolling stone. Hyperion. 1997. p. 74. ISBN 9780786881543., it was released prior to it being included in the album. So, although a single on its own merit, its not a single from the soundtrack. Davidson later recalled about his luck regarding his debut "single" being included already: "I was very lucky," says Michael Davidson. "Doors opened up like it was The Twilight Zone." Having your debut single ("Turn It Up") appear on Madonna's Who's That Girl soundtrack is a lucky stroke, but this twenty-four-year-old singer's life seems charmed." —IB [ Poke ] 06:13, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
@IndianBio: Hello, I read your explanations with interest and appreciate your thorough research on this topic, even though I'm still sceptical about the claim that both "Turn It Up" and "24 Hours" got their respective release/promo-release prior to the inclusion in the soundtrack-album and therefore cannot be viewed as singles "from the album". The reason for my skepticism are the respective images on Discogs: Both releases clearly state "From the sire album Who's That Girl: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" on the back sleeves. So it's obvious that the single releases positively were linked to the album. And even if a single that's included on an album is released before the album, it still is a single "from the album", isn't it? Otherwise, "Life To Tell" would not be the first single from "True Blue" because it was released before the album..... Well anyhow, as I already said I appreciate your research and your discussion of this topic and won't interfere with your reversion of my edit. Best, --Purzelbier (talk) 06:38, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "A-Yo (Lady Gaga song)". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 12 March 2018.

My friend and fellow editor, Numerounovedant, has nominated the article for FAC again. You would recall posting comments at the article's first FAC back in July last year. Do let him know if you are willing to post comments at the second FAC. Thank you.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 08:57, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
