Hello, I'm MelbourneStar. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Kayode Oduoye because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks. —MelbourneStartalk 11:37, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Kayode Oduoye. Wikipedia is not a collection of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links may include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. —MelbourneStartalk 11:49, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Lateef Bakare has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. RE:DELETION OF ARTICLE ON LATEEF BAKARE

[edit]

I thank you very sincerely for your comments. However as I posited in my initial comments,I have since made more than 11 reference additions since the article was flagged for deletion. In clear terms, the article was flagged for deletion when I had not provided any single reference. In my viiew, this input is significant. And to cap it,the sources are 3rd party sources.I am of the conviction that more inputs may be generated if the article is allowed to go live, instead of restricting it to this page. This is the 3rd day of the deletion notice and ,to my chagrin ,not much contributions have been made by members.Instinct71 (talk) 12:26, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wale Bolorunduro requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 15:09, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Are you a paid editor with a conflict of interest?

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Instinct71. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Instinct71. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Instinct71|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:24, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you most sincerely for your message. So sorry, work has kept me out of this place for some period, hence my lateness in responding to this message.

In response to your question,I am not a paid editor.I don't get paid to curate any article. As a biographer, it is always my joy reading about interesting folks that have made impacts in their space of influence. Unfortunately, I feel sad if such folks are not well documented in a platform as big as Wikipedia.Creating platforms where folks, in my estimation, that have added value to humanity can be studied is really my impetus for curating any article.

Thank you. Instinct71 (talk) 15:36, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji

[edit]

Hello Instinct71,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

August 2018

[edit]

Hello, Instinct71. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but  Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo. These are just rough guides. Pages can avoid all those pitfalls and still be glaringly obvious ad copy. Sometimes pages meeting WP:CSD#G11 give the appearance of an editor violating Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or WP:PAID. Please read and heed them if they apply to you. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

If you want to try again, please use the Article Wizard or articles for creation to guide you through the creation process. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems.

You may find this tool useful: Google custom search Don't feel discouraged. My first attempts at creating articles were deleted too.

There is more information at Wikipedia:Community portal. There is help available at THE TEAHOUSE. Cheers, and happy editing. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 12:05, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Bola Oyebamiji

[edit]

Hello, Instinct71. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Bola Oyebamiji".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (📧) 00:45, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
