Re:Orange Revolution[edit]

I can't see any reason to think the source is licensed under the GFDL, and the image caption says that the image is from the associated press, who most certainly do not license their material under the GFDL. As I have explained at the deletion debate, I consider that rationale invalid, and fail to see how the image meets our non-free content criteria. J Milburn (talk) 10:37, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is not an advertisement. The company growth is truly amazing if you will take a look at the references provided. The reason behind it is very interesting, although unknown to me as of right now. I believe that English speaking world need to know who makes the weather in Ukraine. The portrayal of Ukraine and its economical potential is not well provided for whatever reasons. A lot of businesses there are shady and prefer to stay in the shadow due to several reasons. All this GDP calculations or whatever they're called is pointless of you don't know who or what stands behind those numbers. I think it is important to inform about the most businesses in that country. How about contribute to the article, instead of nominating it for a speedy deletion? Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 22:25, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, for your reply. I do see your point and I agree with it, but the truth is that in six years the company has built around 20 supermarkets across the whole country and the company in the short time became well recognised in Ukraine. May be more elaboration in that regard could make the article less pompous. What is your opinion? Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 13:39, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Mirax Plaza Ukraine project.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file showing no evidence that the copyright holder has released it under the license indicated by the uploader which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —SpaceFlight89 10:47, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edits at Kiev[edit]

Just in case you don't catch my response to your question at my Talk page, I'll respond here as well. Your edit was fine except that you wrote "Kyiv" instead of "Kiev". Yes, I know that the official transliteration of Київ is "Kyiv", and I use "Kyiv" everywhere else, but Wikipedia policy is to use the most common English spelling and that is still "Kiev". It's just what we have to live with. Replace your addition and spell the city's name "Kiev" and that's all that needs to happen. (Taivo (talk) 18:44, 8 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

PFTS INDEX[edit]

Hello. Why did you delete the table of market records statistics in this edit? And why do you talk about Ukrainian Stock Exchange in an article devoted to PFTS index? These are two different things... Invest in knowledge (talk)

It was way outdated, like two years, while stock exchange changes on daily basis. What was the purpose of the record then? Second of all I did not say a word in article about the Ukrainian Stock Exchange except provided a link as it also based in Ukraine. I was talking about PFTS Stock Exchange, my apologies. That needs to be corrected. I like the annual records that the Russian and the Ukrainian versions provide with volume of trading, but the monthly records is way overkill. Decennial records would be even better, but the index was not around that long. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 17:23, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Ricketts Quadrangle.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ricketts Quadrangle.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Middlesex University logo cut.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:57, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Quintessentially requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Categories in Naftogaz[edit]

Hello, Invest in knowledge. You have new messages at Beagel's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Writing draft articles in the userspace is completely fine, even encouraged, but the article categories should not be used. I have removed them in this case. This section has the policy concerning such pages- essentially, drafting's fine, but using your userspace to bypass policies that would apply in the mainspace is not acceptable. Edits to the Ukraine Wikiproject page[edit]

Hi

Whilst this was not an actual talk page, there were comments re-factored by you which were other editors posts. This sort of thing has to be very carefully approached. I realise that these will probably be viewed simply as helping correct obvious mistakes, but please be careful to check all changes when using AWB.

A lot of those comments have been dealt with already and can be removed, rather than editing them. I will see about turning those sections into talkpages so that they can be archived. Chaosdruid (talk) 18:19, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
I actually had second thoughts about the edits proposed by AWB for that page, but still decided to go ahead because, as you say, some of the mistakes were obvious. Thank you for pointing that out. Will take a notice.

Yuri Sidorenko[edit]

  • Hello! You put 4 templates on article, Yuri Sidorenko. In this article, there are about 6 links to other Wikipedia articles and link to the article more than six other articles from Wikipedia. Affixed interwiki. The main thought that I wanted to convey was Yuri Sidorenko has become a churchwarden (sponsor) of the first Orthodox church in the Arabian Peninsula (UAE). I think that not many businessmen are building Orthodox churches in Muslim countries. Wrote from a neutral point of view, as well as other autobiographical articles that I have met here. Prompt exactly what needs to be improved or changed your point of view.--Juveline85 (talk) 13:51, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Juveline85,

Thank you for your message. Now that you have added a few internal links, I think the dead end template can be removed, although I would suggest adding a link to Donetsk region as well. All the other template messages deserve to be there. First, the article clearly sounds (and looks) like a resume. Bullet-pointing Alma mater, career progress, etc is hardly encyclopedic in style. Second, scans/photos of awards add a shade of promotion if not downright flattery. They are better suited for the articles about these awards (if such exist). They may be close to your heart, but are misplaced here. Third, the entry is an orphan, as only two other articles (EDAPS and Holography Ltd.) link to it. I suggest you rewrite the article in a more narrative and encyclopedic style. Remove the scans of awards; provide references for awards in the text and add more links to Yuri Sidorenko from other articles, if possible. Finally, don’t be discouraged. I know it is hard to be objective when writing about something or someone close to you. The bias is always there. I personally wrote a great deal on subjects, which were connected to me one way or another. I realized that unless I become neutral, truth will be the victim. Best of luck! If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 08:20, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Mayakovskogo Avenue in Desnianskyi Raion.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mayakovskogo Avenue in Desnianskyi Raion.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Invest in knowledge,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:PFTS(2002-2009-08).JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

orphaned image, dated information

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:03, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
