Nomination of Accumulating Space Device (ASD) for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Accumulating Space Device (ASD) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Accumulating Space Device (ASD) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. andy (talk) 10:01, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Alexander Mayboroda has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable sources - most of the references don't mention Mayboroda and the others are self-published. Nothing relevant on Google either (see the Talk page). The article claims he has held various university and management positions but provides no references, and in any case these would probably be insufficient to establish notability. Fails WP:GNG, WP:RS

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 15:01, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hi

Welcome to Wikipedia, apologies for not having a welcome template added by anyone else before the deletion notices.

If you need any help in citing the Russian refs, do not hesitate to get in touch with me on my talk page, or at the Robotics project Wikipedia:WikiProject Robotics.

I will try and help you, but first is to find suitable references to make the aritlcle a definite keep! If he was a professor or a member of a notable body that would help. As for the ASD article, I think it best to concentrate on making it an article on the topic of "Orbital harvesters that collect propellants", although finding a suitable title may well prove as difficult as getting the current article kept. Mayboroda is mentioned plenty of times and has 2 patents, information that would definitely be kept in such an article. Chaosdruid (talk) 00:52, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. andy (talk) 11:29, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Hi

I notice that you are saying there are problems when you try and insert references. To help, I need to know exactly what you are trying to put in.

I have placed two no wiki entries here, if you put the reference in between them it will display it without trying to format it and I will be able to see what the issue is:

Put the ref here, then delete this text

At least the deletion did not go through on the ASD article :¬) Chaosdruid (talk) 18:21, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I have the Mayboroda article in my user space for editing and ref adding, but it must not go back into mainspace until we are sure that it will not be put up for nomination again.
The ASD article will need some work on it to ensure that it is not deleted, perhaps we can collaborat on that first over the next week if you are free? Chaosdruid (talk) 13:50, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We need to get something done on the Accumulating space device page. Someone has posted various cleanup tags, and will no doubt be back at some point to remove any unsupported material. We need to find references for Marwick and Mayboroda, and additional ones for the PROFAC, sections.
Were there any on the Mayboroda deletion discussion that would help here? Chaosdruid (talk) 05:10, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Too late, they have already chopped it down to a small piece and are going to lump it into another article. It is not really a problem though, the articles can be worked on in our sandboxes and if sourced correctly, reintroduced with little chance of this happening again. Sourced correctly though, that is going to be the difficult part. Chaosdruid (talk) 07:39, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
