external links only belong in the external link section[edit]

See the external link policy. Within article content, including a filmography listing, we only link to existing internal Wikipedia articles, not out into cyberspace. Within an External links section, if an article has one, we may link to an external site specifically about the subject of the article, if the external site meets the qualifications.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:12, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

in addition, you may wish to look at the style guide for use of bold within articles: WP:MOSBOLD. Bolding is only appropriate in a few limited circumstances - attracting attention to "winners" is not one of them. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:47, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Sheetal Sheth, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Unless there's a legitimate dispute over her birthday (note that it appears cited, and also appears to be consistent with "happy birthday" wishes posted all over various social media), it's an on-topic biographical fact that is legitimate to include. DMacks (talk) 19:27, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@DMacks: The Sheetal Sheth page is a Biography of Living Persons. The living person whose biography it is has repeatedly requested that her birth date / age not be published on her Wikipedia page. I have explained this in previous comments when I have, at her request, deleted her age. I explained it when I requested that her page be protected from malicious edits (not involving her birthday). Wikipedia's policy on the Privacy of personal information acknowledges that dates of birth are private and instructs Wikipedia editors to err on the side of caution. I will try to remember to reference this policy in my edit comments when, per Ms. Sheth's request, I remove her birth date from her page. I apologize for forgetting to explain on this particular occasion. JBChristy (talk) 18:38, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation. That same policy says the recommended solution is to include just the year, rather than omitting birthdate altogether (age is a neutral encyclopediac fact, and does not seem to be the aspect that the policy is addressing). What is your connection to the subject of this article? DMacks (talk) 19:38, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@DMacks: Yes, but the year is the part that she considers private and does not want published. Ms. Sheth is an actor and regrettably having her age published can adversely affect her career. Having it published on Wikipedia is especially troublesome since Google started publishing excerpts from Wikipedia's bios on the main search results page when people search for her. She does not want her age published anywhere, but she definitely doesn't want it showing up on Google's primary search page. Regarding our relationship, I'm Ms. Sheth's webmaster. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
