Your edits[edit]

Edits like this are considered disruptive, especially when immediately followed up by a self-revert. Please do not do that in the future. Primefac (talk) 16:35, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I won't do it in future. I went to the talk page to discuss it. I won't edit it again unless there is strong talk page consensus to mention the windmills in lead. Thank you for your concern. JC7V-constructive zone 20:12, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete DYK nomination[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Template:Did you know nominations/History of the Jews in Alaska at the Did You Know nominations page is not complete; if you would like to continue, please link the nomination to the nominations page as described in step 3 of the nomination procedure. If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with {{db-g7}}, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 06:52, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you DYK bot, I fixed it now. To the bot operator, have a great day. JC7V-constructive zone 15:00, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Drafts[edit]

I don't think it's really good practice to move your own drafts to mainspace. Since you can write in mainspace, the best way of keeping incomplete articles fro over-hasty deletion. is to use the "underconstruction" template if you can finish them within a day or two. DGG ( talk ) 23:08, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DGG. Thank you for the advice. I never knew about that under construction template. I think that AFC submissions are a good route for me to go in my future article creations since I feel that AFC reviewers can give me feedback and point me to specific areas of my articles that I need to work on. So I'll probably go the AFC route. JC7V-constructive zone 23:43, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

deleted page[edit]

JC7

I did not feel like continuing to edit my draft with the reviews I was getting. I requested deletion so it would not waste anyone else's time. Was basically told my work was not good enough (that's fine by the way). --Forlornhope15 (talk) 02:51, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I replied on your talk page. I briefly considered wikifying your draft and submitting it with proper sourcing (I am in the Draft rescue squadron), but I decided your draft wasn't suitable for this site so I put the CSD tag back. I left you advice on your talk page. If you don't agree with it, checkout the Teahouse or Help Desk. Thanks JC7V-constructive zone 02:53, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to The Lost World: Jurassic Park, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:07, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not a vandal[edit]

2601:2C0:4780:458F:B04C:17ED:F8D:4015 (talk) 01:51, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@2601:2C0:4780:458F:B04C:17ED:F8D:4015 Well your reason has to be better for removing referenced content. It just didn't meet the site's guidelines for WP:Bold. And I didn't call you a 'vandal' I warned you about blanking in the manner that you did. JC7V-constructive zone 02:41, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

Hi, thanks a lot for helping me. Can you please clearly explain me when to give which warning to a user? Knightrises10 (talk) 15:56, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't it be better to use twinkle? Knightrises10 (talk) 18:03, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Knightrises10 (talk) 18:37, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I wanted to know that if an edit is a good faith one, should I still warn the user or do something else? Knightrises10 (talk) 14:42, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
*@Knightrises10: Which edit are you referring to (can you provide the article that the edit was made on?). If this is just a general question, yes still warn them. You can either do it with a custom message 'your edit was in good faith but it was wrong because ...' or you can use one of the many twinkle warnings which can be used for good faith warnings (ie Original research, addition of improperly sourced content or any number of the single issue notices or single digit warnings (ie reverting self tests, not using edit summaries etc). JC7V-constructive zone 14:48, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok... It was just a general question, as previously I didn't warn those users. Thanks! Knightrises10 (talk) 14:50, 20 August 2018 (UTC) @Knightrises10:[reply]

It's better to warn everyone even good faith (especially editors who make wrong edits in good faith). Again follow my advice above about how to warn editors who made a good faith yet wrong edit (custom message: Your edit was in good faith but was wrong because.. or use a twinkle warning ,there are twinkle warnings for pretty much all behavior that an editor makes). good Luck.JC7V-constructive zone 14:52, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Vandalism
Assume good faith

I see. Knightrises10 (talk) 14:54, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knightrises10: Yes you did fine. The editor made a unsourced change and you corrected him/her and gave him/her a proper warning. Another option could have been to let his/her edits stand but for you to insert a citation needed tag next to the newly added info. Citation Needed tag info can be found here. JC7V-constructive zone 15:20, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll remember this. But can you clarify when to revert good faith edit and when to place the tag? Knightrises10 (talk) 15:22, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for disturbing you again but can you please see this , should it be called good faith too? Knightrises10 (talk) 15:40, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knightrises10: you aren't disturbing me, I enjoy helping others. That edit should be reverted (in good faith), because it is unsourced and because it is in the wrong place in the article (nothing goes above an article tag). I would warn them with a custom message 'your edit was reverted because it is unsourced and because it was in an improper place in the article, nothing goes above an article tag that is at the top of an article'. JC7V-constructive zone 15:51, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Knightrises10: I just reverted the IP who made the above edit that you mentioned and I left 2 messages on their talk page clearly explaining why and what they should do to not make the same error again. That is what you should do if a similar situation arises again. JC7V-constructive zone 15:59, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Knightrises10: As an aside, there are times when vandals will try to fool you by working together to vandalize articles or by IP hopping and the subsequent undos by vandal watchers like us overlook stuff these vandal teams sneak in by correcting their own edits. JC7V-constructive zone 16:19, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, ok. I have seen your messages on the IP's talk page, and will surely remember from now. Thanks Knightrises10 (talk) 17:53, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think I should go for specific training from Mz7, as he replied to my previous request now, or am I doing ok like this? Knightrises10 (talk) 17:55, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Can you tell me about the four levels of warnings? I mean if a user vandalises different articles, should the level of warning be increased? Knightrises10 (talk) 03:22, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knightrises10:,Hi ,follow this link for info. Generally, I increase the warning for every edit they make that is vandalism/unconstructive. There is also a 4im warning which is a one time only final warning, but that is used in really extreme cases (ie if the editor makes a death threat, or harasses an editor or something like that) If the editor who vandalized and was blocked and has vandalized again within 1 day of coming off the block, you can report them to AIV or give them a 4im warning (your twinkle ARV dropdown menu mentions that). JC7V-constructive zone 03:59, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing, I couldn't warn this user for not knowing what to use for this edit. Knightrises10 (talk) 03:48, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So i did this Knightrises10 (talk) 03:56, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knightrises10:, Ok, the name change edit that they made was unsourced reverting it and warning them about changing it without providing a reliable source was a good move. You can have given them a uw-unsourced1 warning or a uw-biog1 (put {{ }} on both sides of those words when you warn) warning too but I am not 100 percent clear on that. But you made the right move and your warning was good. JC7V-constructive zone 04:08, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • (talk page watcher) Twinkle is good, but there are still some warning templates that are missing in Twinkle. If you want to template others manually, just remember to substitute the template, like this: {{subst:uw-vandalism1}} ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 04:36, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vogeti ramakrishnayya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Sir,

This is in response to your comment "You still haven't addressed this " WP:INCITE still not addressed. Please do not resubmit until the references are placed inline with the content they support." .I've looked and there are large swaths of text in the early life and education section with no inline citations. You should add them in this case. If you want, I can find sources for you or help you add inline citations but if you don't address at least these particular concerns, your draft may be declined again."

I had given one reference for the whole section 'Early life and Education' since all of the information in that section can be found on that particular webpage. Nevertheless I have made changes to the section as you've suggested. I am not really sure if it is alright now. I request you to please review again and instruct me on how I could fix it if any errors persists.

Thank you Ubhasrk (talk) 19:07, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ubhasrk: Hello ,Ubhsrk. I am not a AFC reviewer. I just was another set of eyes on your draft who wanted to give you feedback. I monitor new pages (Special:NewPages) and sometimes drafts so I can give positive feedback to new users who create articles or drafts to help their articles or drafts grow (since I got similar help from another user on one of my first articles I created;Susan Mikula, which is still awaiting review). Whether or not having all areas of each section being sourced is required or if there are very few possible exceptions is moot. It certainly doesn't hurt to do so because some of the best articles on this site are sourced from start to finish(you should strive to create the best article you can so there is no chance of it being declined by the Article for Review team)
  • @JC7V7DC5768: I understand. I hope your article gets accepted soon. Thank you very much for the feedback. I have made those edits that you've suggested. Maybe you could check and see if it beats the best articles here. :) Ubhasrk (talk) 20:08, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Falcon Insurance Group[edit]

Just a question. If you added a Notability tag on an article, does that mean it has been approved? I would like some clarification on that. Thanks Allines (talk) 15:21, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Allines: Hello Allines, thanks for the question. No the tag i added to your article isn't a 'delete article' type of tag. The tag is to motivate you to add more references to show that the group meets WP:CORP. Like removing a prod tag, removing that tag without a good reason is frowned upon by the community. You can read more here: WP:TC. Happy editing JC7V-constructive zone 15:27, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In the initial proposed deletion, it was written that we can remove the tag and write why the article should be published. I wrote why the article should be published in the talk page of the article. Allines (talk) 15:32, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Allines: Hi, I wasn't stating that you removing the PROD tag was wrong. I was saying in general it is wrong (but not in your case). Sorry for not being clearer. The notability tag on your article can be removed if you find maybe 1 or 2 sources which meet WP:GNG. But if you remove it anyway I won't fight you. But if you do, please keep expanding the article with reliable , independent sources. Thank you JC7V-constructive zone 15:39, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification. And also, what is the time frame for getting more sources before the article is deleted? Allines (talk) 16:51, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Allines: Hi, there is no time frame like with Prod tags or CSD tags. The maintenance tags are just to foster improvement on the articles not to tag it for deletion. Some current articles have been tagged with maintenance notability tags for years. The maintenance tags are more of a 'SoFixIt so there is no chance that the article is deleted' as opposed to 'Delete the article unless the article is fixed'. Hope that helps. JC7V-constructive zone 16:55, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, sucker[edit]

You claim that Hey, Suckers is the correct quotation from Texas Guinan. Why don't you just Google the phrase hello sucker? You will find that, among other things, it is the title of a biography of her. I don't think her biographer would have got the title wrong. I have lived for quite a long time and have never heard of this famous quotation as anything other than hello, sucker. I can't think where you got your idea but it is incontrovertibly wrong. --Rhoda Koenig 51.9.240.122 (talk) 18:58, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@51.9.240.122, Well there are conflicting sources to whether which of us is correct, see here , here and here. If you add 'Hello Suckers' to that article, use those sources that you found googling to do so. Thank you JC7V-constructive zone 19:24, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

your A7 on Tony Severino [edit]

The claim that his team has a record number of state titles is probably enough of a credible claim of notability to make your A7 fail (the claim does not have to .be sufficient to show notability). I would suggest replacing it with a WP:STICKYPROD as an unourced BLP. If the editor does not provide some real sources the article will automatically be deleted in 7 days. If sources are provided we can evaluate whether the article should go to AFD. Meters (talk) 05:16, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Meters: Hey Meters, I did as you suggested and Prodded it. Thank you for the advice and feedback. Much appreciated. JC7V-constructive zone 05:19, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'll keep an eye on it too. Meters (talk) 05:22, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • Having looked for sources, I think this guy is likely notable. He's been coaching for 45 years, and is fairly well-known. The article as it was created was just an excuse for boosterism, and I have my doubts that the article creator will bother to make a real article of it. I've removed the high school promo .I'm not all that interested in high school coaches but we could probably save this. Meters (talk) 05:32, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Meters: Hi, thanks for the head ups. I should have looked more thoroughly. I made a error in judgement due to the boosterism nature of and it being unsourced. But I removed the STICKYPROD and I expanded and sourced the article. I hit a brick wall with sources. Nearly all of the sources are local sources (ESPN has a few articles with extreme passing mentions of Severino, not even really noting his accomplishments). So if you can find more sources and especially ones outside of the region, than it would much appreciated. Thank you. JC7V-constructive zone 06:22, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a look. I'm not a high school coach guy so I'm not familiar with how much is needed for an article. It's quite possible he would fail at AFD, but my guess is it wouldn't be a unanimous decision.
I wasn't trying to give you a hard time at all. The barrier is quite low for an A7, and mistakes are not uncommon. If an article makes any credible claim at all of importance (even if it would not be sufficient notability to warrant an article) an A7 is out. If there are no claims it's obvious, but if there is a claim then it becomes subjective. If there is any doubt don't use it. Meters (talk) 03:17, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Some baklava for you![edit]

Thank you for your contribution to Wikipedia.

Please advise me about the article: Draft: Peace Treaty on Korean Peninsula
I would highly appreciate it if I can get your general opinion about the article whether it can be uploaded to the main space of Wikipedia.
For your information, It was created this article about five weeks ago. From my understanding, it could meet the requirement of Wikipedia article on the main space as per the Wikipedia:Notability,WP:10YT, Wikipedia:Verifiability. Goodtiming8871 (talk) 06:33, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Goodtiming8871: Hi, I looked at your draft, and on a casual glance it looks good. But I have some suggestions.
  • 1) An infobox would be great to have in this article to summarize key points in an easy, concise way (for example see Camp_David_Accords and Cuban_thaw articles with infoboxes.
  • 2) Maybe tweaking your 'reactions' section to be like the reactions section in this article would be a good move.
  • 3) Maybe more sources (and some things in the article may need more than one source). Many of the best articles on Wikipedia have a lot of sources (I know its more about quality than quanity but why not have both quality and quantitative sources).
  • 4) Maybe expand and offer more details on the treaty itself in the article, including conditions and the sort.
  • If I was an AFC reviewer I would have accepted your draft but highlighted the above key points. Good luck JC7V-constructive zone 16:23, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Animal drive has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.

(talk page stalker) Yeah, that's an annoying thing with Twinkle. Because you moved Animal drive to the draftspace leaving the redirect behind, you were actually the one who created the Animal drive page (as a redirect to the draftspace), according to the software, even though you weren't the one who actually expanded it into a full article.--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 18:43, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We need YOU![edit]

Hello JC7V7DC5768,

Unregistered editors cannot create articles on Wikipedia, but they can use the articles for creation process to submit drafts that registered editors can either accept and publish or decline. WikiProject Articles for creation is looking for experienced editors who want to partake in this peer review process. If you have what it takes to get involved, then please take a look at the reviewing instructions. To discuss specific AfC reviews, do so freely on the designated talk page.

There is currently a backlog of over 3700 drafts (287 very old).

If you know an editor who may be willing to help out, please use the template you are currently reading {{subst:WPAFCInvite}} to draw attention to this WikiProject. Many hands make light work!

Nomination of Relentless Church (Greenville) for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Relentless Church (Greenville) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Relentless Church (Greenville) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 20:25, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Barkeep49: Hi, I didn't create the article, I did however ref and slightly expand it (there was a mixup) . So I will put the above message on the real article creator's talk page. JC7V-constructive zone 20:34, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Would be helpful if you were to move the draft in the future rather than doing a sort of copy and paste move. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 20:39, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Barkeep49:, Hi, it wasn't a copy and paste move. I tagged the version that discospinster moved into draft space. When he/she moved Relentless Church into draft space, he/she left a copy of the original article in mainspace. I slightly expanded and added references to the latter (I only tagged the version that was moved into draft space). I didn't realize that when i was adding refs to the article that a copy of it was already in draft space. Once I saw there were 2 versions of it and the one i worked on had enough refs to be in mainspace, I blanked the draft and added a redirect link, linking it to the mainspace Relentless Church article that I was working on JC7V-constructive zone 20:49, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, they moved it without a redirect: you were likely editing it when the move was made. It’s an apparent bug in the system. I’ve filed a phab ticket to try to get it fixed. Mainly an issue because of the attribution problems it creates. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:26, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tony, I apologize for causing the issue. Thank you for fixing it. JC7V-constructive zone 03:33, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No need to apologize. It’s a flaw in the software. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:04, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing edit summary[edit]

Hiya. The edit summary you left for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dynamite (roller coaster) is slightly confusing since you wrote "k" but reconfirm your delete vote. Usually k means keep. --Tyw7 (🗣️ Talk) — If (reply) then (ping me) 01:01, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tyw7: Sorry, I meant to type 'D' as in delete but somehow I typed 'K' (freudian slip), I considered changing my delete vote to Keep but decided to reaffirm my delete vote based on what you and Shadowl typed in the AFD (amongst other things) . Sorry for the confusion. JC7V-constructive zone 01:07, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
JC7V7DC5768, just curious why did the other rollercoaster gets the keep vote but this the delete? Both seem like crystal-balling to me. --Tyw7 (🗣️ Talk) — If (reply) then (ping me) 01:14, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tyw7: My vote was a Weak Keep and the difference between 'Weak Keep' (on Copperhead Strike) and 'Delete' (on Dynamite) wasn't that big of a gap. Another reason for the differences in votes was that construction on Dynamite halted in June briefly (construction on Copperhead Strike never halted). Also the sources and arguments provided in the AFD for Copperhead Strike makes me believe it should be a Weak Keep while the sourcing and arguments provided in the Dynamite AFD didn't do that for me. Keep in mind, MBlaze Lightning also voted Keep for Copperhead Strike and Delete for Dynamite JC7V-constructive zone 01:32, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I was just wondering the difference. I personally see WP:CRYSTALBALL applies to both but to each their own.
PS I'm unwatching the page now so if you have any further comment, please ping me. --Tyw7 (🗣️ Talk) — If (reply) then (ping me) 01:37, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2003 LSU roster issue[edit]

hello jc. didnt mean to cause any issues with my minor edit last night. i was the assistant team manager for the 2003 lsu tigers football team. one of the althetes, mark bixby, passed away on sept 4th. when i came across the wiki page i noticed not only was his name not on it, but the roster, in general, was wholly incomplete. as you can see from your source, the roster is double number for o\d, and that is the pre season roster, not the final, including number change, transfers etc. and the name i edited last night was wrong itself, and who knows how long it has been like that. i was wondering if i can volunteer to moderate that page and get the roster up to date (it was a championship season for the tigers), at a minimum, make the approrite roster changes to show respect for those no longer with us. thank you for your time. sorry if i did something wrong, i have never used wiki before. Malibuxboy (talk) 15:52, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Malibuxboy:, Hello, thank you for contacting me and your edit. Marc Bixby or Mark Bixby was not in any of the 2 sources in the roster section as being part of LSU's 2003 roster. A google search also didn't turn up anything for a 'Marc Bixby' or a 'Mark Bixby' playing for LSU in 2003 either. I left you a message on your talk page leaving open the possibility that you may be right but that you should provide a source for it. I still stand by that statement. Please provide a source for it. JC7V-constructive zone 16:25, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

hey jc. all i would have is my own personal notebooks. the internet wasn't what it was now back then. a number of players from that year will turn up no result, even on lsus archives. if that isnt an acceptable source i understand and its all good. but again, check the name that i changed out from #47, it wasnt correct and had been wrong for who knows how long. the change you made was not back to the same name. Malibuxboy (talk) 16:40, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Malibuxboy:, Hi. I don't doubt you. You may be right, but based on the searches and sources I found I couldn't find that player on LSU's 2003 roster. I think that using your personal notebooks as a source would fall under WP:OR (original research), which is against policy. You can go to the talk page of the article, and say what you said to me here, and try to gain consensus for the inclusion of Mark's name into the roster section. You can also go to the Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard and see if you can use your notes as a source for the inclusion (but I don't think it is allowed but you can try). Thank you for editing. Sorry about Mark's passing too. Have a great day. JC7V-constructive zone 17:01, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ayushman Mitra Page Deletion[edit]

Hi, please note that Ayushman Mitra wants to maintain a low key profile and hence does not wish to be on Wikipedia as yet. Hence, he's requested for the page to be deleted. Correction on Cyrus McCormick[edit]

Your message regarding undoing my correction to the Cyrus McCormick article is puzzling. The existing article had the name of an author wrong (Green should be Greeno). The error is in a source--how do you give a source for a correction to a source citation? In any case, there is already a link to information about the Greeno book; if you follow that link, you will see that the author's name is Greeno, not Green. If there's some other way the correction should be done, please advise.Editime (talk) 13:57, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Editime[reply]

After researching you are right. I added it back to the article. You made a change in the last name of someone in a reference so your edit seemed off to me. Then I searched for Follett on google and I got a bunch of hits for 'Follett L Green' but I didn't see any for Follett L Greeno so i reverted you. However, after reading your message here I did another search in the link and found you are right. Sorry for the mistake. I meant you should have provided a link to the correct name of Greeno in your edit summary showing that his last name was Greano. That's what I meant. There is no template message for that. Happy editing. JC7V-constructive zone 14:02, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know you could put a link in the edit summary.Editime (talk) 14:24, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Editime[reply]

(talk page stalker) JC7V7DC5768, a bit of feedback: The citation itself had a link to this Google Books page which lists "Greeno" as the author, so you didn't need to do the searches you did, and there was no need to ask that the editor provide a link in the edit summary. Additionally, if a template message does not adequately convey the message you want to send, then you should consider writing the message yourself; don't feel obligated to use a template if none fit well. Mz7 (talk) 22:21, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted[edit]

Hi JC7V7DC5768. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2018-11-03. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Mz7 (talk) 22:26, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your help, but please don't eat the cheese off her sandwich, as the Dutch might say--the editor is a student in my class, and while you're improving the article, it's not very helpful to her. What I would appreciate is if you leave the editor a note, on their talk page or the article talk page, explaining what you did but especially why you did it. Thanks, Dr Aaij (talk) 20:39, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi thanks for the reply. I patrol new pages and I prefer 'sofixit' approach to maintenance tagging articles. I usually do leave messages on the talk pages of new editors of whom I tag their articles for deletion or move their articles to proper titles. I will however, notify editors in the future of such things. thanks for the feedback. JC7V-constructive zone 20:58, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Tagging or moving when appropriate, of course--I'm all for that: what's wrong is simply wrong, and I'm all for SOFIXIT. But in this case, while Jimbo Wales should thank you for improving the article, it means one thing that the editor now can't do, and the more they do the more points they get. I'd give you points but you're not in my class list on Blackboard... Thanks, Dr Aaij (talk) 21:02, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dr Aaij, as you likely know Wikipedia is the encyclopedia that anyone can edit, at any time, for any reason. If a student needs to make an edit to get the credit, and someone else does the edit first, then your system is rather flawed and should be amended. For example, the student could make a copy in their userspace (giving appropriate attribution in their edit summary), make all of the course-required changes, and then copy it back over to the "live" article. Students should not be penalized simply because an editor happens to see an issue and fixes it of their own volition. Primefac (talk) 14:04, 13 October 2018 (UTC) (please ping on reply)[reply]

Joke edit?[edit]

I'm wondering how you think that these edits were a joke? So far as I know, as someone writing a book on a Hanna-Barbera theme park in Canada, there is no evidence that theme parks in Mexico, Argentina, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, and New Zealand had HB sections. Thus, they should at minimum be {{cite}}, and more likely should be removed entirely.

Can you explain why you thought this was a joke? -- Zanimum (talk) 11:47, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Zanimum: The first edit that the ip made to the article was them adding 'fact' next to a bunch of the countries in the article which left CS1 errors on the page, then the next edit they made added a CN needed tags next to those countries. So it seemed suspicious to me that so I reverted. Obviously I was wrong and I apologize but they didn't include an edit summary which could have helped me. JC7V-constructive zone 16:21, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Zanimum: I've now removed the unsourced locations, added and sourced one and sourced another. JC7V-constructive zone 17:55, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
