Deletion of GLScene[edit]

Why did you delete GLScene? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2008_May_10

(Sorry I created that before discussing this with you. I'm kinda new here at WikiPedia :| ) -- DanielPharos (talk) 15:59, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it by mistake, I didn't check the edit history thoroughly and didn't realise it was in English at some point. I've undeleted it and restored it to English. JIP | Talk 16:06, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I've manually copied the Portugese version to the Portugese WikiPedia, so let them figure it out :0) --DanielPharos (talk) 16:11, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your reversion of my edit[edit]

Hi, JIP. I see that you reverted a recent edit of mine, and thought you might like to know about the ensuing discussion here.

Thanks. --Error -128 (talk) 20:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just felt that the comment the user added "They do not normally wear gloves, and the green one is usually yellow" was interesting enough to keep. The first part is certainly true - I have never, ever, seen the girls wear gloves. The gloves were my own addition. As for the second part, it's less true. I have seen the girls in three different styles:
  • red, green, and blue
  • all pink
  • the "new look" style, making them more fashionable and less girly.
However, there "yellow instead of green" style might simply be a variation of the first style, so I found it too trivial to remove. In conclusion, I simply found it interesting and funny that someone had taken the trouble to comment on my picture, and the comments seemed to do no harm, so I let them stay in. JIP | Talk 20:19, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Just so long as you are aware that the color statement is at odds with that made in the article. As far as I can see, the only current links are 'internal' anyway, so the discrepancy is less likely to cause any public confusion for now...
Boy, you sure do respond quickly! ;) --Error -128 (talk) 20:42, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments at AfDs[edit]

Recently, you have commented in three AfDs related to professional wrestling articles. All three times, you gave your reason for supporting deletion as "wrestlingcruft". In the future, it would be great if you could explain what you mean by the term. Simply making up a word that sounds clever doesn't contribute anything helpful to the discussion. Your comments do not make it clear as to whether you have searched for third-party sources for the article or if you have even read the articles. GaryColemanFan (talk) 23:15, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comment. I shall have to stop writing these comments. JIP | Talk 03:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of titsup.com[edit]

Hi, the above was PRODded and you have deleted it as it had gone uncontested. I request you to restore it as it being a neologism itself does not make it a candidate even under CSD. As far as notability goes, I believe that it is notable as it has over 1000 google hits and more importantly, has been used in publications such as "The Register." As an administrator, I could probably restore it myself but I believe the proper procedure is to contact the deleting admin. Pl. let me know on my talkpage if you think that it should not be restored. I'd then take it up to deletion review. Thanks for your time. --Gurubrahma (talk) 06:08, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given your msg. on my talk page, I'd be obliged if you can restore the article as it wd appear to be a conflict of interest if I were to do it myself, given that I had been an active contributor on that article. TIA. --Gurubrahma (talk) 07:47, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eclipse and C#[edit]

Hi, I saw your question about Eclipse and C# on the talk page. I currently know of three plug-ins that provides C# support within Eclipse. There is Improve Technology's C# plug-in, the Black-sun Eclipse Plugins, and Emonic. I am personally a developer on the Emonic project, so it would be unwise to ask me for my opinion as to which of the three is the best. ;) Please let me know if I can help in any way, best of luck.--Remy Suen (talk) 04:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mandi Lampi[edit]

Found it. This is where I found her B-Day. The YouTube Video titled "Mandi - "Miks kaikki kiusaa"."

Exactly where there? I didn't find it either in the video itself or the comments. The comments wouldn't be a reliable source anyway. JIP | Talk 03:50, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It says so in the description. It is in Finnish. Google translate it from Finnish to English, and that should show you what I mean. Okay? I hope this helps!:)Kitty53 (talk) 18:55, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. Sorry, I do not think descriptions written by YouTube users count as reliable sources. If it had appeared in the actual video, it would most certainly have come from Mandi herself or her publishing company, but as it is in the description, well, just about anyone could have written what they wanted. Proposed deletion of Dresstease[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dresstease, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Proposed deletion of "Marko Sjoblom"[edit]

Hi JIP, see below your comment. user:Markomerikukka has written other articles than those on American Football. See for instance following: (hist) (diff) Kuortane Urheilukio‎ (←Created page with '[Kuortane Urheilukio][1] operates Sports Academy for young Finnish athletes. The Sports Acade...') or, (hist) (diff) Petteri Jouste‎ (←Created page with 'Petteri Jouste is [Finnish Sports Association] [2]coach for sprinters such as [Johanna Manninen][3]). Furthermore, user has not known that it is compulsory to write series of articles to keep one's credibility on wiki, rather, concentration on this article has been spend on its credibility and informative sports and business related contents with various credible links to published articles by independent media (try e.g. www.google.de, www.altavista.com, www.yahoo.de/com).

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Aprilmayjune2.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aprilmayjune2.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article McKonkey's Ferry incomplete[edit]

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page McKonkey's Ferry to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 01:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Whynatte[edit]

I'm new to wikipedia and was confused about the deletion of the whynatte page. This drink truly is becoming popular in Atlanta, GA at many local bars. Changes would be accepted if we could decide on an appropriate page to be on wikipedia.

Translation Question[edit]

Hi there,

Apologies for asking you without knowing you first, but I have this strong feeling you could be able to guide me in my quest. I was advised by user Yupik to contact you.

I am working on a set of pages related to numismatics, specifically of the Euro zone. Right now I am working on Euro gold and silver commemorative coins (Finland) (if you are interested in seen other works, the portal is Euro gold and silver commemorative coins where articles of other countries can be seen). For the Finish article, as you might see, all the numismatic data and pictures are there, but the designs of the coins are so abstract that just looking at them a description can not be made. There are tons of pages that describe these coins, with the original explanation of the design, but all of them in either Finish or Swedish. What is the easiest way to get help on the translations? As you can imagine we are talking about one paragraph per coin, which is not labor intensive and I do not mind to do just one coin a day or something similar in order not to burden the translators. Any advice?

I could leave a message or request on Wikipedia:Translation/*/Lang/fi, but as explained by Yupik (and as expected) this seems to be not too active.

Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:05, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of sustainability topics (L)[edit]

Hi there. I noticed that that PRODs for the "List of sustainability topcs" subarticles were being inconsistently dealt with: see here, so I undeleted the one you deleted (List of sustainability topics (L)) and redirected it to make it consistent with the other ones. Millstatt coat of arms[edit]

Yes I reverted the edit. It was clearly either an act of vandalism or "Original research" at best. An administrator like yourself should know better than to make either type of edit. My first thought upon seeing the coat of arms was "That looks like animal heads on a Doric column, not PEZ dispensers." When I saw that you are and admin, I thought you just knew more than I did because and admin would NEVER intentionally add false information to Wikipedia. I spent a little time researching it and found no corroborating evidence for your claim...so I reverted it. Your edit greatly disapoints me and has diminished my faith in the system by which this community operates.

German translation[edit]

Hi, I am a bit confused over a translation. This is about the word "Die Genussgifte" in the article Anti-tobacco movement in Nazi Germany. Can you please suggest what will be the appropriate English translation, "The Benefit Poisons", "The Poisons for Benefit", "Enjoyment Poisons", "Poisons for Enjoyment" or "Drugs for Enjoyment"? Will there be anything wrong if I pick the translation "Poisons for Enjoyment"? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 05:46, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the German word "Genussgift" means a substance that is consumed for pleasing effects, such as alcohol, caffeine, or nicotine, but is addictive and poisonous in the long run. I would think "poison" would be too strong a word for the English language, maybe "drug" is better. As neither German or English is my native language I don't know which word English-speakers routinely use. It looks like this is the same thing as Finnish "nautintoaine", literally "pleasure substance". JIP | Talk 05:51, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Google translate shows "poison". However I think "Drugs for Enjoyment" will be better. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 05:56, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you use "stimulant", see this entry on the LEO Forum. Adrianwn (talk) 08:14, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
