Tanner scale images
Hello. I don't understand the removal of images on Tanner Scale by your JJMC89 bot. They do have a Non-free use rationale. What's wrong?--Aréat (talk) 06:20, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Hi Aréat. Each use of a non-free file is required to have a separate specific non-free use rationale per WP:NFCC#10c; so, if a file is being used in more than one article or more than one time in the same article, it's required to have a non-free use rationale for each of those uses. Moreover, the way the files were being used in an image gallery is something not really allowed per WP:NFG and WP:NFCC#8. It's much better to incorporate the image into the body of the article near the relevant article content it's intended to support so as to better establish the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8.Finally, Wikipedia's non-free content use policy encourages us to try to minimize non-free use as much as possible per WP:NFCC#3 and to use freely-licensed equivalents whenever possible per WP:NFCC#1. There is a freely-licensed file File:Tanner scale-female.svg already being used in the article (FWIW, it should really only be being used once, and the gallery removed altogether); so, it's not clear why or how these particular non-free files show are simply needed to further the reader's understanding beyond what information the free image provides. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:44, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
your help at Rita Rohlfing
Dear JJMC89, thank you very much for your help with the article. I did understand meanwhile that these quotation marks: „...“ are only used when having a citation of some text. And that these quotationmarks "..." are used for the title of the exhibitions. But you changed the „...“ also at citations to these "..." - can i put this in my vademecum that no matter where always these quotationmarks are being used? Or is it ' ' this symbol which should be used for all? I want to do it correctly that's why i ask. Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 11:20, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Gyanda: Straight quotation marks should always be used (MOS:STRAIGHT). Double quotes are most common, but see MOS:SINGLE for exceptions. — JJMC89 04:39, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- It's great that you gave me these links, i'm going to bookmark them. Very helpful, thanks a lot!!! --Gyanda (talk) 11:31, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Problem in adding inter language links
I am a user who edits in Malayalam as well as English Wikipedia. I would like to know the reason why I am not able to add Malayalam language link to the template Template:Infobox Chinese/Header. The malayalam page that needs to be linked to that template is ml:ഫലകം:Infobox Chinese/Header. It showed a notability error but I was able to understand that other inter languages were added to that link.Adithyak1997 (talk) 18:29, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- It is caused by d:Special:AbuseFilter/36. You'll have to ask a Wikidata admin about it. — JJMC89 03:06, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

Template:Incomplete
Hi JJMC89. What's your plan for Template:Incomplete? Are you orphaning it? --Bsherr (talk) 15:32, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Bsherr: Yes, AnomieBOT is handling the orphaning. — JJMC89 16:02, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
Trovagene
Was the copyright issue not resolved? Abattoir666 (talk) 06:02, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
- The issue was not resolved. As the template says, do not edit the blanked text. — JJMC89 16:12, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Iadmin inactivity
Hi JJMC89, @Cyberpower678: closed out the RfC regarding Wikipedia:Interface administrators, setting up a need to monitor for multiple inactivity conditions for inactive interface admins. Would you be able to expand JJMC89 bot to report on these? I think a monthly point-in-time check should be sufficient, and notifications are not needed. Conditions to check for:
- User is a member of Special:ListUsers/interface-admin and
- User (last edit or logged action) > 2 months ago
- or
- User last edit of a css/js page/(usercss/userjs page other than their own) > 6 months ago
Thanks for your consideration, — xaosflux Talk 02:34, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'll add it to my to-do list. — JJMC89 04:43, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: Where do you want to report this? Project pages like admins or BN? — JJMC89 03:10, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- How about Wikipedia:Interface administrators' noticeboard until we can get a feel for what the volume will be. It is possible there will be no hits in a month, and we don't need a "no activity" report. — xaosflux Talk 04:11, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: I've coded this. I don't expect that it will need to post anything for a while though, so I'm not sure what to do for a BRFA trial. — JJMC89 01:44, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- @JJMC89: for trial purposes you could use tiny values like 2month-->2 days 6 months-->6days maybe? — xaosflux Talk 02:31, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- If that works for BAG, it works for me. BRFA filed. — JJMC89 04:42, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

Reversion of SOCKSTRIKE
Hi JJMC89, would you mind reviewing this edit, Special:Diff/864278804/864316728, where your SOCKSTRIKE has been reverted? I'm not quite sure what the rules are in this situation. Thanks... --IamNotU (talk) 16:44, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- By the way, that diff is hidden. I don't intend to get involved any further. — JJMC89 05:35, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
Wenlock and Mandeville
Hi there, I've noticed you put a Di-fails NFCC on File:Wenlock and Mandeville.png, I've used it for fair use to describe on who these guys are. I also used Template:Non-free Olympics media because due to them being non-free Olympic images. RainbowSilver2ndBackup (talk) 21:04, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
- There is no non-free use rationale for the article that the file is used in. — JJMC89 04:48, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Faunce–McMichael Farm
I had seen your request for some photos of the Faunce–McMichael Farm located in Cheboygan County, MI. I was out photographing historic places in northern Michigan and this was on my list. I did find the farm. It had a stone with a plaque identifying it as the National Historic site of the farm.
Unfortunately, the farmhouse is gone. There is a small new building, that is no way a historic building. I presume it was built where the house once stood. The barn is still standing. The farm is gated and fenced, so I had to take the best shot from the road of the barn.
My question to you, without a picture of the house, is there any need to upload a barn photo? I can do that, if you want.
I tried to find any reference as to the fate of the house and couldn't find any. If it burned down, then there would be some news reference. My feeling is the present owner just tore it down. Thus, no press.
Wingerham52 (talk) 23:03, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, Wingerham52. I haven't edited the article and am not familiar with the farm. Ammodramus requested a photo back in 2014, so they may be able to answer your question. If not, you could ask at WT:NRHP. — JJMC89 23:14, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I can't be of any help. I was just assigning WikiProject NRHP ratings to unrated articles, noted that this one didn't have an illustration, and added the photo-request tag. — Ammodramus (talk) 02:30, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
The bot removed an image file name from a template but left the template in place
In this edit, JJMC89 bot replaced {{wide image|MacOS_Sierra_dock.png|1122px|The default Dock in [[macOS Sierra]], in dark mode.}} with {{wide image||1122px|The default Dock in [[macOS Sierra]], in dark mode.}}; the later displays weirdly. It probably should have removed the entire template invocation. Guy Harris (talk) 04:15, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, probably. However, there are many templates that use media differently, so it is difficult to account for what should be done with every template if the file is removed. — JJMC89 18:27, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Sweet Female Attitude article
Hi, I'm just wondering why you deleted all the information on the Sweet Female Attitude article, there were some references that were removed by another user, however, all they needed was neatening up. Other references were solid, and the discography that was inputted could have been referenced via the Sweet Female Attitude iTunes page. Jonni_Boi (Talk) 13:31, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- Nothing in that article, save for the "Looking For Love" (2018) track listing, is sourced. The article is about a living person and needs sources. — JJMC89 01:43, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
50 Cent
For the second time User:JJMC89 bot has dubiously deleted File:50_Cent_-_Just_A_Lil_Bit_-_CD_cover.jpg from squatting position but not deleted it from Just a Lil Bit.--Penbat (talk) 23:26, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher)@Penbat: I answered your question at WP:MCQ#50 Cent. If you've got any questions about what I posted, please add them to that thread so everything can be kept in one place. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:32, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- I removed it once in May and the bot removed it once yesterday. As explained by Marchjuly at MCQ, use in Squatting position violates multiple non-free content criteria. Use in Just a Lil Bit follows the standard, accepted use of album covers – to identify the album in the article about the album. — JJMC89 01:43, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Jim Griffiths photo
Hi, any chance you could explain in plain English why the photo of Jim Griffiths you deleted is not allowed on this page: Deputy Leader of the Labour Party (UK) but is allowed on his profile page? Littlemonday (talk) 13:11, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
- Use one that page does not satisfy all of the non-free content criteria, particularly 8 (contextual significance) and 10c (separate rationale for each use). The bot removed it for violating the latter – there is no rationale for that article. — JJMC89 00:55, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying. Please explain why it is allowed to have a photo on one article but not the other? Also, which article is there no rationale for?!? Littlemonday (talk) 09:15, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- There is no rationale for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party (UK). That is one reason (and the reason it was removed) why it is not permitted. The other is because the image does not significantly increase the reader's understanding of the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. Non-free images of people are, generally, only permitted as identification in the article about that person. — JJMC89 01:43, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
