Speedy deletion declined: Cameron Clark (project manager)[edit]

Hello JTZegers. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Cameron Clark (project manager), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: previous revisions contain claims of significance, let the afd run instead. Thank you. SoWhy 07:09, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AfD: please slow down[edit]

I noticed that you're very rapidly nominating lots of articles at AfD. I've taken a look through some of them and it appears that you're misunderstanding some of Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Before making further nominations, I advise you to slow down, re-read the notability guidelines (especially the GNG and WP:GEOLAND), and provide more info about how and why the articles you nominate fail the notability guidelines. I'm happy to answer any further questions you might have. CJK09 (talk) 19:46, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

CJK09 Is there anything else you want me to do? Give me tips since I am new here.

I suggest that you study how to contribute to AfD discussions and participate in other editors' nominations for awhile before you do any nominations of your own. Schazjmd (talk) 20:42, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, don't set out to AfD articles, it seems as if you've sent random and notable stubs to AfD. Deletion is taken very seriously and a large number of incorrect nominations in a short period of time will be considered disruptive. For instance, one of the unsourced articles you nominated, a Russian/Tatar church, could have very easily been sourced by using Google Translate on the Russian version of Wikipedia, which would further improve the encyclopaedia. Please make sure you understand a WP:BEFORE search before doing any further nominations, and only nominate if you've exhausted every opportunity you have to keep the article. But Schazjmd's suggestion is a good one - if you want to be involved with deletion discussions, participate in any of the open discussions we have, understand notability is different than the current state of the article, and practice searching for secondary sources not currently included in the article. Please let me know if you have any other further questions. SportingFlyer T·C 21:25, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism warning[edit]

I reverted the "only warning" notice you posted on User talk:R koiwai as that editor hasn't even edited today and, without a linked article, there's no way to identify where you think vandalism took place. Schazjmd (talk) 20:27, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

And a {{uw-speedy2}} on SoWhy's page, and mine. JTZegers, if you want to experiment with warnings, please do so at User talk:Sandbox for user warnings, and not on real user's pages. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:28, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) (edit conflict) This User seems to be making lots of test edits with Twinkle: they warned themselves, and made lots of AfD nominations in a row. Please slow down a bit and use the sandbox provided above for tests. Cheers, --Dps04 (talk) 20:31, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for deletion[edit]

Hi - Please can you stop nominating quite so many articles for deletion without proper consideration. You have nominated Richard Costain for deletion. He was the founder of one of the UK's largest, best known and oldest construction companies, Costain Group. Also he is listed on the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and not many of the UK's industrial leaders achieve that distinction. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 21:52, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Dormskirk: I think it just needs more detail. I kept it. JTZegers (talk) 21:56, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@JTZegers: AfD isn't cleanup. If sufficient sources exist to prove that the subject of the article is notable, it shouldn't be nominated to AfD (see WP:BEFORE) and if nominated it will almost certainly be kept, regardless of its current state. If you think an article is too short, expand it. CJK09 (talk) 22:03, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dormskirk: I will remember that.JTZegers (talk) 22:04, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Just to amplify, you are too inexperienced to nominate anything for deletion, and I don't think you should be using Twinkle. Trying to delete the Main Page will bring much unwanted attention. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:29, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chris troutman: It's ok, another person after you told me the same thing.JTZegers (talk) 23:13, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop[edit]

You're trying to take on too much too soon. You are making far too many errors, warning incorrect individuals, inappropriate templating etc. I strongly suggest you stay away from anything to do with deletion (tagging, nominating etc.) until you gain more general competence as an editor.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:28, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ponyo: What errors am I making? I've already learned to avoid doing all of this stuff from the warning scandal and the Richard Costain article that shouldn't have been nominated. JTZegers (talk) 22:30, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, you haven't. Your entire editing history from today is riddled with errors. You even notified an editor who hasn't edited in 9 years that you nominated the Main Page for deletion just minutes ago. Please stop using Twinkle immediately until you have a better understanding of deletion process and templates.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:36, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ponyo: Ok, sorry for the inconvenience. I didn't mean to do that. I'll think about the rules before I do anything else ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the deletion rules are the only rules I broke here without even realizing it. Thanks for letting me know that I messed up. Is there anything else I need to do? JTZegers (talk) 12:46, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.- I now work on extending articles, so there is no more chance that I will keep messing up. I nominated one last article for a good reason. If you disagree, that's fine. But don't spam me with comments saying that I need to chill out. Otherwise, feel free to share what you need me to do better. JTZegers (talk) 12:46, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I "fixed" my first article![edit]

I just fixed the issues in S_V_Mangalam. --JTZegers (talk) 14:10, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Continued misuse of Twinkle[edit]

You've now reported a sandbox to the edit warring noticeboard. You are not competent enough to use Twinkle at this point and the ensuing disruption results is administrators and editors having to clean up after you. If I see you using Twinkle in such a manner again I will block your account. I understand that you want to help, but your wielding of automated tools without the ability to use them correctly is disruptive. At this point I think the best way forward for you is to find a mentor.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:37, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ponyo: Ok I won't do that again. How does my first article fix look? --JTZegers (talk) 17:38, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ponyo: So I made multiple mistakes yesterday and one mistake today. I understand that, and I've already asked someone to be my mentor. But I've been doing good today as well. --JTZegers (talk) 18:03, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of noticeboard discussion[edit]

Mentorship[edit]

I'd be happy to mentor you. A long time ago I was in your shoes. I feel I can offer good advice. CJK09 (talk) 18:34, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CJK09: Ok thanks. JTZegers (talk) 22:08, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Great. The first thing you should do right away is stop using Twinkle. I recommend going into your preferences and unchecking the Twinkle box in the Gadgets section. This will remove the temptation to use it. Using powerful tools like Twinkle properly requires experience that you don't have yet, and I've talked to several admins who say they will block you if you misuse it again. Once I think you have the knowledge and experience to use it properly I'll let you know. CJK09 (talk) 22:21, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@JTZegers: I'm really sorry but I have to take this offer back. I just found out about some real life stuff that I need to put 100% of my attention toward for the next week or two. CJK09 (talk) 23:12, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CJK09: Ok it was helpful while it lasted. --JTZegers (talk) 23:25, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@JTZegers: I'll be able to check in a few times a week; I just don't have time right now for a full-on mentorship, which is what you need right now. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone; I wish you the best of luck there. But I'm happy to pop in now and then to help. CJK09 (talk) 02:18, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CJK09: I'll just study the rules then. JTZegers (talk) 13:38, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
