UTRS 50301[edit]

UTRS appeal #50301 is open. Seeking feedback. @John M Wolfson and JBW:. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:12, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Deepfriedokra: He just put me on restrictions for another year with the biggest worry being having me blocked again, but otherwise I'm all set.--JTZegers (talk) 14:02, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocked[edit]

Okay Mr. Zegers,

You have convinced me to unblock you. I was going to wait for Floquenbeam, but I don't think that will be necessary if you have truly been good. Do realize that the same restrictions you had in May will still apply to you continuously for a year hence. You will be expected to know these restrictions (they're in your talkpage archive) and the fact that they are (unless otherwise stated) zero-tolerance. If you violate them you will be blocked again, this time for a whole year. I just want you to understand that, and understand that accepting this unblock constitutes accepting those conditions and restrictions.

Regards,

– John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 20:47, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@John M Wolfson:This time I'll try not to make the same mistake I made last time. So basically, until next year,

  • Don't edit my own user page
  • Don't edit any user talk pages except for yours and mine
  • Don't make any automated edits
  • Don't close any discussion
  • Ignore the trolling allegations
  • Don't be a pain in the butt

And the reason why you reinstated them is in case something goes wrong again --User:JTZegersSpeak*Aura 20:48, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's generally true, except that you missed not creating any pages (even articles or talkpages) and that you seem to have misinterpreted my "trolling" comment. Also, no merges or "implementing" any discussion, even with consensus. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 21:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • @John M Wolfson:And I'm still too inexperienced to be an admin, so don't even think about it.JTZegers (talk) 21:24, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Oh yeah, not for years; your conditions prevent you from even having the backstage experience to start a genuine go at RfA. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 21:27, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
        • @John M Wolfson:-I'm just worried that ClueBot might make pages in the archives, and you might mistake the bot for me, and I don't want to go through this for another year.--JTZegers (talk) 15:52, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
          • I don't think that would be an issue; the bot would be mentioned in the edit summary. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 16:08, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of African-American statewide elected officials, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 20 November 2021 (UTC) Luckily, I corrected it after I got that message.JTZegers (talk) 06:03, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

November 2021[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Seventh generation of video game consoles, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. -- ferret (talk) 18:25, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ferret: Thanks for letting me know that I should have looked for a source before adding that. I know you can actually get blocked for this, as it violates both WP:N and WP:NOTESSAY. I just thought that if the Xbox/GameCube/PS2/Dreamcast era was the 128 bit era, then the next gen would be the 256 bit era. Apparently not. I’ve already gotten two warnings this month (a disambiguation link warning and this unsourced content warning), I can’t blow it now. JTZegers (talk) 18:30, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Neither N nor NOTESSAY are at play here. This is WP:OR. -- ferret (talk) 19:07, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret:, luckily the rule I had trouble with wasn’t WP:OR but WP:BADNAC. I am now very concerned about the redirect 256-bit era, and would request speedy RfD per lack of importance, but unfortunately I’m not allowed to do that due to being restricted from automated tools for BADNAC. And I surely don’t want to be blocked again. JTZegers (talk) 19:16, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The redirect, from a 2004 article move, is a potentially plausible ancient search term, just because people make the same assumption as you did regarding 128-bit -> 256-bit. However, there's no sourcing that show it ever gained any real traction as a widespread known term. 128-bit itself was already a misnomer, and 256-bit would have been even more so. All major consoles since the "64-bit era" have been 32-bit or 64-bit. -- ferret (talk) 19:34, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret:I would agree with you. I just don't think that redirect is necessary, hence why I propose someone doing an RfD on it, or speedy deletion per WP:G6 (an unnessecary redirect) and WP:R3. This may deserve discussion with other admins on your end. I now know that the 6th gen is when people stopped talking about "bits", so today's Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PS5 aren't 1024 bit, they're just the same type of hardware as the last gen but newer.--JTZegers (talk) 19:37, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
