Image copyright problem with Image:Her Name Is Nicole.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Her Name Is Nicole.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:10, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tattoo-Video.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tattoo-Video.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:14, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Craig-Horner-Garry.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Craig-Horner-Garry.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 10:35, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

More GA reviewing

Please see this discussion, and please cease passing GA nominations without any sort of review or commentary. Considering this a warning, your behaviour here is verging on disruption, and you have been warned numerous times. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

First of all, I do not want you to quit reviewing - the help is appreciated. I would just like to see a better standard. Contrary to your "I have passed GA nominations with some sort of review or commentary.", Talk:Friends#Successful good article nomination shows absolutely no commentary, simply a pass for each criteria. I really do hope that before looking at doing some more reviews (which I hope you do) you take a look at WP:RGA...I've also compiled some thoughts at User:Dihydrogen Monoxide/A noob's guide to GA reviewing. I hope they help. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 12:39, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, you asked me if I would make a Gears of War userbox image. Sure, even though I don't have a 360. I have a PS3, but I've played GoW and I really like it. I'll make you an image for it for the userboxes.

Gears of War Movie

I have finished a draft for the GOW Movie, check it out and tell what you think.Gears Of War 23:06, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Jay, I've redirected back to the film section on the main article. The project is not in production, so per the notability guidelines for future films, a stand-alone article is not yet warranted. (Since with no guarantee of making it to actual production, there's no guarantee of the typical elements of a film article -- Production, Cast, Reception, etc.) The section can be developed and then moved to its own article if production begins. I've explained this to user Gears of War and mentioned some examples of how this has been done in the past. I just wanted to give you the heads-up about that! It would be awesome to see a film based on the video game, but unfortunately the film industry is notorious for having multiple projects in development and having only a few move forward into active production. Hopefully Uwe Boll doesn't get attached! :-P —Erik (talkcontrib) - 15:19, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the invitation, but I am comfortable with just WikiProject Films. :) If there is an actively produced film adaptation of Gears of War, I will be happy to help out in shaping the film article. Happy editing! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 23:23, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Class-of-TheTitans.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Class-of-TheTitans.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:11, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

NZ Charts

I have come up with a compromise: there still are rowspans, but it is much easier to read than the plain wikitable. here is what the first section of it will look like:

Week Artist Title Album
6 January Leona Lewis "Bleeding Love" Spirit
14 January
21 January
28 January Flo Rida
featuring T-Pain
"Low" Mail on Sunday
4 February
11 February
18 February Chris Brown "With You" Exclusive

Hopefully I can go ahead and convert the tables. I'll covert the 2007 table to this style for a trial. Thanks Laydan Mortensen (talk) 01:09, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Free images with copyrighted titles

Hi, Jay

I was wondering if you could help me with something. I want to upload an image I made and release it under a free license. However the image i made uses the word "Sims" (a registered trademark of EA Games for its Sims games series). I am concerned that if I upload it I may be sued because I'm releasing an image for free use with one of their registered trademark names. Do you think i should upload it? Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:BabyBoyOpening.png

Thank you for uploading Image:BabyBoyOpening.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 20:31, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi

  • I saw that you have published a musical chart. It's very good. But I have a few questions; do you write a new list weekly or what? Also if you aged 21; how could you make a new list since 1990? And how do you produce the list about download and airplay? (And I could not see any Janet Jackson songs charted on your list.) I'm sorry for my English if I made any mistakes. Good luck. :) --♪♫Atakan0652|message 23:41, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Go on then. :) I will try to reach your charts regularly. It is very well. (Hope someday I'll see Janet on your lists). Stay in touch. :) --♪♫Atakan0652|message 17:33, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Re:help

I am afraid but the only to save those images is to improve the fair use rationale especially the purpose and also the captions-add captions that restate what is being discussed in the article which describes the character in question. --Efe (talk) 08:18, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Re:One fair use image

No, not really. If an image is not required, an image is not required. Furthermore, the fact that it is only a single file does not mean that it consists of any fewer images. There's an explanation of that here- an essay that is worth reading. J Milburn (talk) 16:37, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Jay. Thanks for passing the article to GA. --Efe (talk) 13:56, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Userbox for GA reviews

The userbox {{User Good Articles reviewed}} has been updated so that it can now link to a page in your user subspace where you keep track of all your GA reviews, if you have such a page. This can be done by adding a | and then the name of your user subpage (or subsection of your regular user page) wherever you have the template called. For example, on my user page I am using

{{User Good Articles reviewed|6|User:Rjanag/GA reviews}}

which displays as

This user has reviewed 6 Good Article nominations on Wikipedia.

There is more information on how to do this at Template:User Good Articles reviewed.

Note: If you are not interested in doing this, you don't have to do anything; the template will still work for you exactly as it does now.
