AfD nomination of Boryeong Mud Festival[edit]

I have nominated Boryeong Mud Festival, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Boryeong Mud Festival. Boryeong Mud Festival[edit]

First of all, hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw your comments on the talk page for Boryeong Mud Festival and wanted to let you know that no one thinks you had ill-intent about creating the article. There was simply a question about the notability of the festival. Based on the article as it is currently written, it was hard to tell whether the festival was notable or not.

Because an article is nominated for deletion does not mean it will ultimately be deleted. Discussion is currently underway here about whether it is notable or not, and you are more than welcome to come and tell us why you feel like it is notable. I, by the way, am among the ones right now who do feel it is notable.

There is a concern, however, with the fact that the article does not list where the festival takes place. You say on the talk page that anyone searching for it would know. You shouldn't assume that. One thing about an encyclopedia is that it must list all relevant data for a subject as if the person looking at it knew nothing at all about it. Also, per WP:ADVERT, it's not a good idea to leave an advert for the festival at the bottom of the page. It is permissible to link to the web site in an "External Links" section, however.

Now I've tried to be nice about this because I know you weren't trying to do anything wrong, but you need to give us the same consideration. It's not censoring or being politically incorrect. As I tried to tell you, Wikipedia has certain standards for its articles in terms of style and what can be in them. One thing that can absolutely not be in a Wikipedia article without good reason is a phone number, whether it's for the mud festival or not. It is unencyclopedic.
