For your hardwork, wish you did a great job like this several months ago. Now Indonesian article can get their place in English Wikipedia. Very appreciate. One more time, Thank You. --Tensa Februari (talk) 14:04, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tensa Februari: Thank you Tensa! I initially embarked on an operation to improve articles about governors in Indonesia with the same reason like you, which is to promote Indonesia in WPEN. The project was self-dissolved after almost finishing one province, but I revived the operation in practice and managed to create half of the articles about governors of Papua. But then I discovered recent deaths in ITN, and wanted to challenge myself on how quick I could make a C-Class article. BTW, there's a lot of Indonesians in WikiProject Indonesia, you should try to talk in there too! Regards, Jeromi Mikhael (marhata) 14:26, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Muladi

[edit]

Back in December you make a significant alteration in the page Muladi. Historically that namespace had been the page name for Wikipedia's article about about medieval Iberian Muslims, until August when a User renamed that page to Muwallad, while Muladi became a redirect. Because there was no discussion or systematic replacement of links at the time of that change, links using Muladi in this context were still retained in a large number of articles, and even continued to be used by those unaware of the name change. Then a few months later, you took this redirect and completely changed its usage to refer instead to an Indonesian politician. This created a mess - there were, and remained until I started working through them today, dozens and dozens of pages that still retained Muladi links referring to the native Iberian converts to Islam and not to the Far Eastern politico and your change instantly turned all these into misdirects. That is why re-tasking a namespace that previously had a different usage is generally avoided - it risks leaving nonsense in the wake of the change, and it is thus the responsibility of the editor who makes such a potentially-damaging change to clean up after themselves by calling up the 'What links here' list for the namespace and making sure no problems have been created. 'You break it, you fix it' applies: if you are going to make a change that creates additional necessary work, that work should not be left for others to do - in this case I have already had to fix 50 pages and have another two dozen to go, and believe me, I don't think my time is less valuable than yours. Please be more careful and tidy up after yourself if you again decide to re-task a redirect. Agricolae (talk) 17:05, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Agricolae: Really sorry for this. I should take the blame. I don't know what I was doing apparently at that time; I'm planning to nominate the article for the recent deaths section and I need to hurry since I'm operating in a limited time space. I don't know that Muladi was a very notable redirect. If you really have no time to spare, you should contact me earlier and I'll fix my mistakes. Please accept my forgiveness; I've also spared my time (as you can see above I should be studying for a test) to fix it. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 17:38, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping out. I think the ones that need to be changed have been now. Agricolae (talk) 17:56, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ITN

[edit]

I saw your comment about needing "an unofficial guide to ITN blurbs". What invariably probably happens is that a newbie that was interested probably doesn't get around to compiling it once they've figured it out. If it's any consolation, I've been here a while and make suggestions that sit there too. Ultimately, it goes back to being bold. If something needs to be done, do it yourself (if you can). Wikipedia is WP:NOTCOMPULSORY, so often nobody else gets to it. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 09:21, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bagumba: Heh. I have a paper book monitoring all of my activities in Wikipedia, so maybe I would make one. Dissecting each blurb discussion one-by-one, then concluding the criteria. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 11:31, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using edit summaries as talk pages

[edit]

Hi. Regarding this edit you made and your comments in the edit summary: the user you called out to has not made an error of any kind, so should not be challenged in an article edit summary. Please direct such calls via his own talk page. It's etiquette. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 16:47, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Refsworldlee: Hi. Sorry, but that's not criticism. I'm just asking the user to drop out red links in my talk page (as the user is the fastest updater for Indonesian deaths). I knew that the user would be pinged to see 1) the article has been made 2) my message. About the usage of edit summary, yeah, that shouldn't be done. Quite stupid actually, so really sorry there. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 16:53, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Can I just point out that it came across as very authoritarian - as though the editor shouldn't have made an edit in English Wikipedia without going through you first? That's the real point of my reference to etiquette, and shows how easy it is to be misconstrued. Best wishes to you and happy editing. Ref (chew)(do) 17:01, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Refsworldlee: I mean just to inform. The user is free to do whatever the user wants, but I hope the user could also inform me by just clicking "New Section" → Subject/Headline: [[''insert dead person name here'']] → publish changes. I want to be informed in order to fix the red links in "Deaths in 2021". Sorry if you misconstrued it. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 17:07, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Setiadi Reksoprodjo

[edit]

In the article Setiadi Reksoprodjo it states:

"On 3 July 1947, Amir Sjarifuddin, the new prime minister of Indonesia, announced his first cabinet. Setiadi, who was 25 years and 7 months old at that time, was appointed as the Minister of Information, making him the youngest minister in the cabinet and in the history of Indonesia. His junior minister in the cabinet, Sjahbuddin Latief, was almost twice as old as him (48 years).
Five months later, on 11 November 1947, Sjarifuddin announced a reshuffle on his cabinet. In Sjarifuddin's new cabinet, Setiadi and Sjahbuddin exchanged their post. Sjahbuddin was appointed as the Minister of Information, while Setiadi became the junior minister."

"Sjarifuddin" is very similar to "Sjahbuddin" and this causes confusion. Now I am not familiar with Indonesian naming conventions, but if Amir Sjarifuddin is abbreviated to Sjarifuddin, why is not Sjahbuddin Latief abbreviated to Latief? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:20, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
