Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Cossette, Inc., is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 20:26, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. kingboyk (talk) 21:32, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I'm not sure why I was blocked - I had actually added a host of citations and removed ad-type language - furthermore, everything I have added has been 100% factual... Finally, I am not being paid to make edits to Wikipedia. Hoping this can be rectified

Accept reason:

I have changed your username for you. You seem to be editing in good faith, and now that you're realised that you have a conflict of interest with regards to Vison7 and Cossette Inc. and have agreed to avoid editing those pages, the block is no longer necessary. Whilst we'd encourage you to avoid articles about your employer, you can if necessary still use the requested edit process if edits need to be made - make sure that you add the {{connected contributor}} template if you do so. If you stick to sports and other topic areas, though, you shouldn't have any problems. Welcome back. Yunshui  07:40, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article you have been editing, Cossette, Inc. - who have offices in Toronto - are or were owned by a company called Vision7. Are you employed or hired directly or indirectly by Vision7, Cossette or any other connected person or entity? --kingboyk (talk) 13:34, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - but I have not been instructed to amend the page in any way by my company - instead I wanted to make it as factual as possible, and to ensure that all content was cited appropriately... Again, I did not realize I couldn't amend the page, and I will not any further if need be, but I'd ask that the page is not deleted if possible. I would also be more than happy to work collaboratively on it to ensure you are happy with any content! Vision7en (talk) 13:56, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the disclosure, for the change of username request and for your patience. I will let another admin decide on how to proceed (as they see fit, without any need to consult me).
While you wait, it might strengthen your case if you listed here some other articles you want to work on at Wikipedia in which you have no personal or professional involvement, and what you plan to do, as we love welcoming new users who are here to help build a free encyclopedia. --kingboyk (talk) 19:52, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering if it would be possible to not delete the Cossette page because of my stupidity - honestly, I noticed that the Cossette page was lacking in accuracy and thought it made sense to clean it up and find sources for a variety of the statements... In terms of additional articles - I am very interested in sports, and would love the opportunity to work on those (i.e. player pages and team pages). Thanks so much for your consideration.Vision7en (talk) 19:58, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
