Keilana

[edit]
Keilana is a student of biology and physics at a university in Chicago. Her passion is astronomy, as anyone who stalks her contributions would know. She's an administrator and mediator with a love for helping new editors, because she was treated so well when she joined the project. She's fluent in French, though her grammar deteriorates markedly after midnight.

[edit]

He is also the co-coordinator of the Counter Vandalism Unit Academy, where he and other counter-vandals show new users how to carry on the tradition of keeping Wikipedia free of spam.

I love making things work - but even more than that, I love the process of making them work.

I grew up using computers in the 1980s, and live in Bristol in South West England. Collaborating as part of the Wikipedia community is remarkable! As well as Wikipedia, I occasionally venture into other Wikimedia Foundation projects. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!

I am just a simple fella, who wants to help other new editors here just like you helped me! Wikipedia totally baffled me when I first started editing, but with help and encouragement from the friendly folks at Teahouse, and a good mentor, I have been able to master most of it. I just want to give back.

I'm into a huge variety of topics—everything from linguistics, table tennis, tea, and math to computer viruses, fencing, video games, and music. I also like to help out at the Reference Desk, particularly for language and computers. I play a few instruments (my panflute is in the picture), and I'm currently learning German and Finnish.

If I see vandalism on Wikipedia, I get excited. If you can catch them and let them know that there's real people behind everything that happens on Wikipedia, then often you can convert them to becoming a constructive Wikipedia editor.

I Jethrobot

[edit]
Jethro hangs out at Articles for deletion; he actually writes and improve articles through some of those deletion discussions! Jethro knows all the "secrets" to getting your new article on the front page of Wikipedia, so ask him if you're interested. (It's a thrill when it happens!) Jethro also knows some Japanese, so he helps out at WikiProject: Japan too. ウィキペディアにようこそ!

Being an editor on Wikipedia is a great exercise in conflict resolution when communication is sometimes challenging. There's a lot of value in that challenge; it's important that you face it head on. Also, don't believe for a second that "ignore all rules" is somehow fake or a pretend policy. It's real, but only if you take it seriously and you take the time to understand what it means. If you think you can improve Wikipedia and a rule is getting in the way, do your duty and run past it. Always doing what you are told doesn't mean you'll succeed in life, and that can be true on Wikipedia, too.
I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!)

[edit]
Nthep is a bit of a WikiGnome with an interest in history. Most of his best Wikipedia work is done with feline assistance (see photo). He also prefers coffee or beer to tea. Favourite thing he's learned from Wikipedia - that he's not an intellectual because he can't listen to the William Tell Overture without thinking of the Lone Ranger

He who never makes mistakes never makes anything - so apt for Wikipedia. No-one should be afraid to try and edit, as anything can be repaired if it's not right.
