Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]
Thank you for your recent submission to Articles for Creation. Your article submission has been reviewed. The submission has not been accepted because it included copyrighted information, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rise & Shine (Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars album), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. A tag has been placed on Sarazino requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (creating an information page for the artist Saraznio. I have no promotional connection with the artist, just trying to provide information on an unknown artist.) --Johncumbancha (talk) 17:15, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But the record label is part of your username? Peridon (talk) 17:32, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am an intern for the record label but I have not used the copyrighted material to describe the artist. I understand this might be deemed a "conflict of interest" but given the objective nature of the content I wrote I do not understand how this can be considered a violation of Wikipedia's rules and therefore qualify for deletion. The artist exists and therefore should have a wikipedia page, no? Johncumbancha (talk) 17:38, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No. Not as a matter of right. Look at WP:BAND. Just because an artist exists doesn't mean an article. At reverbnation and discogs, anyone can get a profile (so far as I know - haven't tried for myself...). This is an encyclopaedia - notability has to be shown (and backed up with reliable independent sources WP:RS. This probably isn't clear on joining - I've been here for over four years and can't remember. I'm beginning to think we should have some sort of course on the rules before creating articles is allowed. Won't get it - too much like organisation. As it is, it's more like life after school/university - you learn the hard way. Read WP:PRIMER and visit the Teahouse WP:TEAHOUSE - a good place to ask questions that PRIMER might have you puzzled about. (Shouldn't be many - it's good.) Wikipedia looks simple when you are looking things up (especially if you use Google to locate pages rather than our own search thing - I didn't say that...). Underneath, it's like a hybrid of the British Library reading room, the House of Commons, and a three ring circus. (Who said 'What's the difference between the last two'?) Peridon (talk) 19:23, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've copied this over just in case. Peridon (talk) 19:24, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I understand and will look over the guidelines in detail, but Sarazino is an international artist who tours around the globe, is on a major world music label, sells a ton of merchandise etc.. He is not well known in the United States as many Americans are not interested in artists that don't speak english. If you search Sarazino in Google you get pages of content, a lot of which are reviews and biographical information. There are many artists on Wikipedia who do not have the same following that Sarazino does. My intent is not to promote or sell, just to provide objective information for curious followers. None of the content has been copied. What am I going to have to do, to make this page go through?Johncumbancha (talk) 23:42, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Find a load (well, at least a few) showing as widespread coverage in as much depth as you can. No social networking, blogs, forums, wikis, reverbnation etc, and not your site, his site, his aunt's site and so on. WP:RS. Put them on User:Johncumbancha/Sarazino refs and let me know. If you get good enough ones, I'll move the deleted article into your userspace and you can work on it. No point doing it until you have the refs. Peridon (talk) 10:47, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, anyone can create a Reverbnation account but in order to have a Discogs artist profile you must be a PUBLISHED artist with physically released material. That requires a publisher which most self-releasing artists do not have. We do not even bother with Reverbnation for our artists. Again I cannot reiterate enough that this is not some independent self-releasing artist. He has two internationally released albums on an award-winning record label that has distribution in over 165 countries. In the US alone he has been featured on NPR, PRI, LA Weekly, Boston Herald, Montreal Mirror and many more internationally recognized publications. We have 5 pages of links to press features on him specifically at http://www.delicious.com/cumbanchapress/sarazino. As the article is deleted I cannot seem to locate User:Johncumbancha/Sarazino refs so if you would kindly undelete it I can link to some of the references I mentioned above.Johncumbancha (talk) 14:37, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's not been deleted - it's a page for you to collect refs on. Keep 'em in one place till they can be checked. When you've got some there, ask me or someone like User:JohnCD to look. He's an admin too and can look at the deleted article if needed. The idea is to get the notability sorted first, then other stuff that people won't argue about can go in later. Peridon (talk) 15:05, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just click it, put something in and save it. Peridon (talk) 15:06, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Sergent Garcia has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Adding sources

[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! I want to let you know that the articles you have created recently - such as Sergent Garcia, Una y Otra Vez, and EXtraOrdinary rendition (album) - are very much appreciated, especially because world music articles are underrepresented here on Wikipedia compared to some other music genres. Please note that Wikipedia articles are based on reliable, published sources, and articles with no sources create the impression that the subject is not notable, and articles on non-notable subjects may be deleted. I have added some sources to each the three articles mentioned at the beginning of this message, because after looking around on Google it became clear that these articles are about notable topics. In the future, adding sources to articles as they are created may prevent other editors from tagging such articles for deletion. I hope you find this suggestion helpful, and thanks again for your contributions.  Gongshow Talk 17:20, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the help. I am new to Wikipedia, so I am figuring this all out as I go. I know there is a ton of information on how to create proper, credible pages, but it can be extremely dense and confusing to get everything right. Thanks again for the patience and assistance.Johncumbancha (talk)

No problem. I have also added sources to the Razia article. I encourage you to follow the formatting that is used in the article's references section (see the "Allmusic" and "Spinner" sources). Feel free to copy the code as a guide. You may also find this Help section (Citing sources) useful. Cheers,  Gongshow Talk 18:56, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's great, but if you continue to spend your time solely promoting Cumbancha's artists, that won't really help much. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:15, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The most recent articles I have created have been accepted with no negative feedback, I feel that I have figured out how to write to wikipedias standards. If my pages are properly referenced and objective then what is the difference between me creating an article about an artist vs an unaffiliated fan? These artists are very notable and deserve pages, if my material is strictly informational then I don't see what the problem can be.Johncumbancha (talk)
