Starting a new page

Hi Joseph,

Hope you are well. I am new to Wikipedia and would like to start a page for my sister, Kimberley Leonard who is a presenter on Sky News International in the UK. I have read that I should ask a host in the Teahouse to let me know if it is suitable and how to go about it.

Would really appreciate your input, Thanks, Kathleen

Hi @KathleenConchita: and welcome to Wikipedia. For a person to be notable enough for Wikipedia, we requires independent reliable sources about them.
From a quick Google search, it's clear that she exists, but there don't seem to be that many sources that cover her in details- most things just mention her as a report for Sky News (or Al Jazeera).
If you want to create an article, I'd recommend using Wikipedia:Article wizard- it takes you through how to create an article step by step. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:18, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Yes I stopped.

  • 11 of October 2011. I placed one photo of SS Metallurg Anosov crew and their families.
  • 23 of October 2012. One photo of SS Metallurg Anosov was placed by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, Washington
  • 27 of October 2012. One photo of the same Soviet ship among the U.S. plane and U.S. military ship was placed by U.S. Navy National Museum of Naval Aviation.
  • One photo on which SS Metallurg Anosov also was placed in 2010 year but description of this photo had not names of the ships and I in January 2016 I metioned in description that one of the ships is Metallurg Anosov.
  • 11 of January 2016. I commenced to write article SS Metallurg Anosov. To describe really why directly this ship was on the U.S. stamps and in the most articles of Wikipedia I had to describe really information that was need explanations. But one branch of history was commenced from the SS Nezhin, another one fron Zhukovsky family. This two branched were combined via SS Karaganda.
  • The ships MS Toyvo Antikaynen and MS Sarny are the continuation of the last ships history.
  • The picture (painting) is not fantasy also.

Any way I did not described all information about mentioned ships.

Can be better to devide the article about ships due to plenty information is not about the ships. So, can be article:

  • Georgy Zhukov and Odessa
  • Zhukovsky family and Odessa
  • Monuments (Russian double means) - you can be sure it is very intersting.
  • Black Sea Seamen families and rest time. - also very interesting and can discharge the ship's articles.
  • Intelligence service by movies - if it necessary, can be some examples enough.
  • e.t.c.

But this needs time and not all in the same time. It is why I had to plece allitle varrious material in the ship's articles.

Of course I did not desvribed all what was on board of that ships. Allitle only. Грищук ЮН (talk) 18:51, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

The problems are as highlighted on your talkpage, and I've removed some of the not very relevant things (like one of them had a late history of Joseph Stalin). I'm not entirely sure- what is your question to me here ?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph2302 (talkcontribs)

RE Gillian Caldwell Page

Hi Joseph,

As a new user I am a little confused by this process.

It looks like I am not able to update Gillian Caldwell's page because- as her employee- there is a conflict of interest.

With that in mind I guess you will need to remove the updates I have made on the page since December. Please accept my apologies I wasn't' familiar with this policy.

Regarding copyright- your copyright team were sent an image of Gillian and her resume document and we were therefore under the impression that these had been received and therefore accepted for use on the site.

Can you confirm that these were received and processed?

Best wishes

Ben — Preceding unsigned comment added by BenjLath (talkcontribs) 15:26, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

@BenjLath: The article has been reverted back to the December version, because your edits were a copyright violation of her CV and also promotional rather than neutral point of view.
With respect to copyrights, did you send these to the OTRS team? We'd need someone from that team to confirm that this- if this is the case, then neither are copyvios. That being said, Wikipedia will not accept a copy of her CV anyway, as it's not neutral tone. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:22, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for your response. I couldn't find a way to directly respond to your reply so apologies for opening a separate thread.

I now understand the reasons why the page has been recommended for deletion but I was wondering if there is any way the page could remain as it was before I tried to make improvements to it back in December.

As I explained I am a new user and did not understand the criteria around editing only being permitted by users not connected to the source. Now that I am aware of this it will of course not happen again. I just hope there is a way that the page can be left as it was originally with no issue messages.

Please advise at your earliest convenience.

Best wishes

Hi, I saw the discussion here [1]. I appreciate you for trying to help out. The user posted a similar query here [2] which I noticed overwrote something already written on the talk page. Your edit [3] was the next edit. If you don't mind could you please self revert your edit (and also User:Thitojhapali's) and help to restore the content previously on the talk page. (after which you can repost your query as well). Sorry for this. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 11:33, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

About the declination of Draft:U.S. Route 287 in Colorado

There is a reason why I continue to submit your article despite the reasoning behind why you declined it. The current article at the parent page is so bad it lacks sufficient sources. The draft page may not have sufficient sources either, but at least it covers the subject in detail! It's also needless to mention that the draft contains a junction list that would clutter the parent article should it be put in there. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, check out the junction list of the aforementioned route as it passes the state of Texas. In short, it's generally better to look at the reason an article is being submitted rather than just denoting it as too long or unnecessary.

Nonetheless, thanks for reviewing the article. HeatIsCool (talk) 02:21, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

I noticed that an article appears to exist for other states, such as U.S. Route 287 in Oklahoma & U.S. Route 287 in Texas. Guess it makes sense for me to accept it, and someone can propose a merge into U.S. Route 287 if they disagree. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:59, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
@HeatIsCool: I've asked for an admin to delete the U.S. Route 287 in Colorado redirect, so that I can accept your draft. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:01, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Great. Thanks a lot! HeatIsCool (talk) 12:38, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

@HeatIsCool: It's been done now. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:10, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Good afternoon
Dear Sir,
Last my corrections in the article MS Toyvo Antikaynen was not dangerouse. First of all I changed "Pinocchio" to "junior deck officer" where it was remained after your cut. It was necessary due to nobody understend why is "Pinocchio" after your corrections.
Next my correction - In the text already were two sentances:

  • Two black balls.
  • Allitle more and collision.

Nobody understand what is it and I wrote only that the ship was close to collision one time more and two black balls were hoisted as it is signal for the other ship "the ship is not under command".

I understood that nothing write about Intelligence and any way all what I described in the articles is true as I was on this ship during mentioned voyages except the last years of the ship when she was under arest. If for you I am not the source, I do not know which source you need.

In Odessa was Maritime museum of transpot ships of Black Sea Shipping companies. Due fire the exhibits mostly burned and the bibliotec and other sources are absents. Likes all other sources are in the Russia. Odessa is Ukraine and not is Russia. It is means that not necessary to call anybody from Moscow or Russia to check me as I am Ukranian or to be clear - I am half Ukranian and another half am Polac if calculate from my grandfathers and grandmothers.

The more realy sourses are the seamen's memories for the Black Sea Shipping Company as in the Company papers and others sourses you will found out nothing, only where was ship and no any details mostly.

About other activities know only crew and other services. I do not give you fully information and onmy opinion nothing dagerouse were mentioned. Any how you deleted the dangerouse part as per you opinion. I do not touch it again.

Regarding other ships: I was not crew member of the SS Nezhin, SS Karaganda, SS Metallurg Anosov but I was on last two of them and on the SS Metallurg Anosov very often when the ships back in the USSR. All what I mentioned about all the ships is true. There more I have more detailed information and information that is better do not write for anybody and I did not whrote it.

The some articles are the original in you Wikipedia: SS Nezhin, SS Karaganda, MS Sarny. And before I wrote the original one about U.S. shipbuilder. Other article SS Metallurg Anosov, SS Leninsky Komsomol, Leninsky Komsomol class of cargo ships are my the original articles in Russian and Ukranian Wikipedias. But the articles SS Leninsky Komsomol, Leninsky Komsomol class of cargo ships are summary of informations from the mentioned sources including seamen discussion in Internet.

Any article was maden using one ore more down mentioned items:

  • summary of other articles and sources - it is means that it is summary of other persons original investigations as any jornalist, writer, politic use own investigations to write anything
  • original own investigation mixed with above mentioned item
  • copy of other source that is also investigation mostly.

The main how you will write the others investigations. For example: in the article SS Karaganda I mentioned U.S. newspapers articles. They are journalists investigations and I can not be sure in that information. It is why I copied the test and wrote from which newspaper it is. About information from my side I mentioned one crew member of the ship. I trust crew member more than any journalist. On this ship was my first voyage when I was child yet. The voyage was directly out on sea boarder of Soviet Union due to military manouvers close to the Turkey Sea territory and in this case no any civil citizens may be on board. It was in 1963 about. I was less then 1 year old.

Any way I understood yours precautions and prohibitions regarding "Intelligence activities" information.

Draft: GPMBA

Hey, I just received feedback about the DRAFT: GPMBA page. I am trying to follow the style of TRIUM EMBA and I would like more clarity on how I can improve the page. If you could share any additional comments or pointers on how to structure the article or necessary content that it lacks will be GREATLY appreciated! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lstrickland7 (talkcontribs) 16:35, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi, @Lstrickland7: I think that TRIUM EMBA also suffers from most of the same problems as Draft:Global Partners MBA, and so basing it on that article may have caused some of the issues. Your draft focuses a lot on it's mission statement, and a list of professors who don't appear notable under Wikipedia's definition of the term.
Also, it needs more reliable sources to show why this organisation/alliance is notable- we require evidence of significant, independent coverage about them, and I don't see that in your draft. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:24, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

17:30:48, 29 March 2016 review of submission by TeemPlayer

Re: Rejection of the WJSV broadcast day article (submitted March 24, 2016.)

I was surprised by your rejection of my article on the 1939 "WJSV broadcast day," especially where you stated that there was, "No evidence that this day of broadcasting was notable enough."

As stated in the "Legacy" section of my article, the "WJSV broadcast day" recordings were considered notable enough to be one of the first selections added to the United States National Recording Registry for preservation by the Library of Congress. As the opening sentence of the Wikipedia article about this Registry notes, the National Recording Registry was set up to include sound recordings that 'are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States.' " The WJSV recordings were added to the Registry's 2003 list, and if you look at the list for 2003 found in the Wikipedia article you will see that the WJSV broadcast day is one of the very few entries for 2003 that does not already have an article written about it. In addition, there are already several other articles on Wikipedia that mention in passing the significance of these recordings. It seemed certain that an article on the subject was due, if not overdue.

You also stated, "Wikipedia is not a radio guide."

This article is far more than just a "radio guide." The reason that the recording of this day has proven significant enough to be selected for preservation by the Library of Congress is that the process and the result brought about by the recording produced a rare and valuable documentation of a unique time and place in radio history. Many Internet websites break out this broadcast day program by program (and I have corrected their errors in my article) because this also provides an important insight on the operations, the personalities and the shows of that day (many of which have Wikipedia articles about them.) I feel these facts show that the WJSV broadcast day article would be a very useful and significant addition, and that it easily meets Wikipedia standards.

Hello, Joseph2302. Thank you for the comments italicized below. This is my first attempt at editing anything on Wikipedia, and I see I have failed successfully. lol I have read the resources/links you provided and now have an understanding on what to do and not to do. I added disclosure information to my user page---please advise if I did not do so correctly. I will attempt to submit correct, third-party sourced content in the Talk section, and would appreciate additional feedback from you as necessary.

My message to them/ standard paid editing message

Hello Ravenking999. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a black hat practice.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Ravenking999. The template can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: . If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:54, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Ravenking999 15:32 EDST, 31 March 2016 Ravenking999 (talk) 20:20, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi, @Ravenking999: The paid editor disclosure on your userpage looks good to me. And making suggestions on the talkpage rather than directly editing is also helpful, thank you. Also, if you add {{request edit}} with the talkpage edits then the page gets added to Category:Requested edits, which means more people see it and it usually gets answered more quickly.
