Speedy deletion nomination of Vegasite[edit]

Hello Jphillips05,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Vegasite for deletion, because it seems to be vandalism or a hoax.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, SajjadF (talk) 14:59, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

August 2012[edit]

Hello, Jphillips05. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Terrillja talk 15:37, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am not writing about him therefore there is no bias. Article is information about the book.

A tag has been placed on Bryan Anthony Phillips requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.  HueSatLum 16:36, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not Done editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jphillips05 (talkcontribs)

Just to let you know that I've retagged this with a more specific deletion reason - namely that the article "does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". You don't need to finish writing the article, but you do need to mention what makes your brother a notable author (so a press interview, a book review or details of an award he's won). Once that's there, the article can stay. --McGeddon (talk) 17:56, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is a legitimate page for a published author. Though not famous yet, still holds a place on a website that claims to hold the wealth of human knowledge.

The article Vegasite has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Self-published novel - no reviews or awards to indicate that it meets WP:NBOOK.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Reviews: *"Amazon"

Thanks, but you should take a look at Wikipedia:NBOOK#Criteria - Wikipedia doesn't require that a book simply be listed on Amazon or stocked in a bookshop, it requires it to have been received significant press coverage, literary awards or other relevant acclaim. --McGeddon (talk) 08:27, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
