Trying to create a User-Profile

[edit]

Is it against Wikipedia policy to use profile of another user as a "template" to create mine?. Jssyedmadar (talk) 06:54, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm sure as long as your user page talking about you, and not another user, it'd be fine. --I dream of horses @ 07:06, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • What you tried to do was make a straight copy of someone else's work. You must state that you are copying, and where from, as Wikipedia's licensing terms require attribution of any re-use of material published on Wikipedia. Also, it seems to me that it is a matter of common courtesy not to copy someone else's user page without first asking their permission. JamesBWatson (talk) 07:17, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't aware that you simply copy and pasted. Read and take to heart what JamesBWatson said. To do otherwise may violate copyright law. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 19:30, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, the edit filter didn't seem to like the 'div style="position: fixed"' tag. (Try placing the flag on your user page without it, and the edit should be able to go through.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 19:51, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
