Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notes and footnotes[edit]

With this edit diff, you transposed notes and reference sections. This is contrary to guidance see WP:CITE, and WP:FNNR. Citation footnotes go in the "Notes" section bullet pointed references/sources go in the "References" section. Just because the template is called {{reflist}} does not mean it is placed in a "References" section as the template contains a list of citation footnotes not bullet pointed references. One only places it in a section called "References" if there are no bullet pointed references/sources, and then there is no notes section. -- PBS (talk) 21:47, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Uskela copyright issue[edit]

Your addition to the above article was very close to http://www.muuka.com/finnishpumpkin/churches/s/church_s.html, a copyright web page. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation, even if you cite the source. You need to re-state things in your own words; simply changing a few words in a sentence is still a copyright violation if the structure of the sentence is preserved. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:02, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Juvrud. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm stuck on one sentence in your edit of 26 August 2016 to Christian VIII of Denmark.

Since he was apparently unlikely to beget heirs, Christian wished to avail a succession crisis.

I do not understand the use of the word 'avail' here. To me it means being of use to, of use towards a thing. But that then sounds like he was trying to help create a crisis. I don't know what would be 'best' here, but if you want to keep the word 'avail' then something like "avail against a succession crisis" would be better. Gjermundbu helmet[edit]

Hi there, thanks for expanding the Gjermundbu helmet article! Do you happen to read Norwegian, and if so, would you be interested in further expanding the page with the definitive source? I have a copy of the 1947 work Gjermundbufunnet: En høvdingegrav fra 900-årene fra Ringerike by Sigurd Grieg, but am unable to read it. If you would be interested in taking a look and adding some of the relevant information, I would be happy to send you the work via Dropbox. --Usernameunique (talk) 00:53, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sara Oust[edit]

Hei

Barlingbo[edit]

Hi there, I don't agree with your choice of image on the Barlingbo article and I would like to talk with you before I undo that edit so that we don't get in an edit war. The church photo is fine for the article about the church, but for the article about the area/location, it is not representative. I know the sv-wiki loves to let the church represent a socken, but that practice is monotonous and does not show anything about the land. On the articles about Gotland especially, I always try to find something else that is not just of interest for Christians. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. --cart-Talk 23:48, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding galleries (and sources)[edit]

Hi, I've noticed you've added individual pictures and galleries to very many articles. I would strongly suggest you to adhere to WP:GALLERY, especially the following paragraph: "Wikipedia is not an image repository. A gallery is not a tool to shoehorn images into an article, and a gallery consisting of an indiscriminate collection of images of the article subject should generally either be improved in accordance with the below paragraphs or moved to Wikimedia Commons. Generally, a gallery should not be added so long as there is space for images to be effectively presented adjacent to text." I also noticed you're adding sources at an impressive rate to a wide range of articles. While commendable, I would also here like to point out the importance of using reliable sources. Particularly, the paragraph at WP:SOURCETYPES stating that "when available, academic and peer-reviewed publications, scholarly monographs, and textbooks are usually the most reliable sources." is one I personally always try to adhere to. Thank you for trying to improve Wikipedia. Kind regards, Yakikaki (talk) 11:14, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent spacing in inline refs[edit]

Hi Juvrud, I notice you're pretty big in the business of adding refs to articles. While that's very much appreciated, I'm a little puzzled by the manner in which you tend to add seemingly random spaces, tabs and line breaks to your citations – see, for example, here and here, though countless other examples can be found in your recent contributions. I may be in the process of making myself look like a massively unbearable nitpicker, and maybe I am somewhat overreacting, but once we're reaching a point where your edits are introducing, for example, spaces in between punctuation marks and footnotes that are inconsistent with the generally accepted formatting rules, I do feel justified in complaining a little. I'd therefore really appreciate it if you could be a bit more diligent and consistent with this stuff – or perhaps, in the spirit of WP:AGF, it's all just down to a broken space key, who knows? ;)

Have a good one! AngryHarpytalk 20:05, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello once more, Juvrud, just wanted to swing by to say that I appreciate you at least indirectly acknowledging my advice by editing your own spacing here and here. I couldn't help but snoop around your XTools page for a bit, leading me to realize that every single edit of yours since 2014 has, in fact, been to the Main namespace – which is unusual, to say the least, even your now-emptied user page was originally created by another editor who misused it to air their grievances. There is, of course, absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to article edits, but as there are some indicators that your unwillingness to talk on Talk may be somewhat dogmatic in nature, I do feel compelled to point out that this has the potential to land you in some hot water with users who aren't as patient with idiosyncratic editors as I tend to be. I'm not going to patronize you by laying out the extended manual on how to press the Edit button on pages that aren't articles, just take it as a precautionary warning.
Now, to get back to the more acute matter at hand, I've still found some stylistic issues with your most recent edits – for example, this one. Given your almost uncannily consistent editing patterns, I believe it to be a safe assumption that you copy your citation templates from some external, personal source, which would fortunately make fixing their flaws quite easy. While I'm not personally a fan of successive spaces in none-infobox-type templates, I grant that this doesn't have any negative effects on the article's outward appearance, so I'll stop badgering you on that. However, what I will complain about once again is your use of line breaks. While vertically formatted citation templates are legitimate, they are most frequently used in listings outside of the article prose, and arbitrary insertions like yours respectively before |access-date= and |title= are discouraged to keep things tidy. More significantly, though, your habit of starting a new line for each citation leads to the footnotes being visually separated by a space, which is inconsistent with the Manual of Style and should be avoided. I do understand why you do it, it makes it easier to distinguish between them while editing, but it's still an issue others will have to fix, so please, do adjust your templates accordingly. I have a creeping suspicion that you may not be aware of the syntax highlighting feature, which you can turn on by pressing the button in the upper toolbar of the wikitext editor – I believe you will find this to be immensely useful.
Anyway, I certainly hope you're still reading all of this. Sorry for the wall of text, and have a nice day! AngryHarpytalk 09:51, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well okay, having just remembered this whole thing and looking through your recent edits, it doesn't look like you've changed much of anything after all, which is disappointing though unsurprising, seeing how this behaviour goes back at least half a decade. Quite honestly, I do find it difficult to relate. AngryHarpytalk 12:40, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. –– ♫ Ellie 23:16, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
