I agree that after publishing about me on the net will lead to my publicity, but truly that's not my sole intention. Rather, I want you to understand my feelings i.e. how much I love the nature, my nation and the whole universe. So, I basically want you to share this message and create an awareness about humanity.

Your user page

[edit]

Hello Kanishk1901, and welcome to Wikipedia. I suggest you read Wikipedia:User pages which has guidance on what is appropriate content for user pages on Wikipedia. You need to be careful about using your user page for personal publicity or social networking, as this is not permitted. I have also marked Category:Kanishk Gupta (KG) for speedy deletion as this is not a permitted use of categories. You can read more about categories at Wikipedia:Categorization. If you have further questions about editing on Wikipedia, I encourage you to post a question at Wikipedia:Teahouse (click on the blue bar labelled "Click here to ask a question"). Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 19:59, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Kanishk1901 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. bonadea contributions talk 10:23, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to contest this speedy deletion by clicking the link you sent which is tagged by "visiting the page" but it opens my user page where I didn't see any button tagged with "Contest this speedy deletion". Can you help me out? And I understand why you want me to remove my user talk about CoronaVirus. But can you explain me the reason for speedy deletion of my user page ? Kanishk1901 (talk) 23:58, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was already deleted by the time you came to look. The reason given was WP:U5. Hope that helps you understand. --RexxS (talk) 02:27, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User and Talk pages

[edit]

You put a hyperlink on your user page that goes to the content on your Talk page. This serves no purpose. If editors want to see what is on your Talk page they can go there. David notMD (talk) 02:02, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@David notMD: Actually, he didn't. He put a hyperlink on his meta-wiki user page that hyperlinks to his enwiki talk page here. When his enwiki user page was deleted, the MediaWiki software effectively copied his meta user page to his enwiki user page. That's standard practice for any editor who has a user page on meta. Hope that clarifies the situation. --RexxS (talk) 02:22, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification. But, I have one last doubt i.e. how can I get my information back on user page? Although, if my content is inappropriate, then I have no objection if it is removed from my user page. Please do respond. Kanishk1901 (talk) 04:31, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All of the information and links (Youtube, Twitter, Facebook....) you have restored to your User page are not allowed, and will be deleted via the Speedy deletion process. See Wikipedia:User pages for what is appropriate. David notMD (talk) 09:54, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Help me!

[edit]

AlanM1 Thank you for the clarification. But, I have one last doubt i.e. how can I get my information back on user page? Although, if my content is inappropriate, then I have no objection if it is removed from my user page. Please do respond. Kanishk1901 (talk) 04:38, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Userpages that have been deleted for promotional material are generally not able to be restored. Praxidicae (talk) 13:35, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Query!

[edit]

I want to ask that if others are posting about something (like I published an article related to CoronaVirus, which Wikipedians think as inappropriate) then why can't I publish it in my own way (because I don't want to violate the copyrights provisions).
Is this is only because I am new to Wikipedia. Kanishk1901 (talk) 04:58, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If my information is valid and appropriate about CoronaVirus, then, can I repost it? Kanishk1901 (talk) 05:01, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles are about notable topics, consisting of paraphrased summaries of information taken from reliable, independent sources. They are not for publishing your own personal thoughts, feelings or experiences about a subject.
As for your userpage, it is intended for basic information about yourself and your Wikimedia-related activities. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not:
The user page guidelines have additional information on what is and what is not considered acceptable content. Thank you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:25, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Drm310. Now I am understanding what Wikipedia is about. And want content I can post on my UserPage. Now, I am reposting some content on my user page. Incase, if you still see anything inappropriate. I will be glad if you tell me about it on my user talk. Kanishk1901 (talk) 06:07, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You reposted the same content that had already been deleted! Minus a copyright sign – so far so good, but that was not the only inappropriate thing on the page. Again, Wikipedia is not a web hosting service. So far, all your edits have been to talk about yourself (or to ask about your user pages). Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and the reason it exists, the reason we are here, is to provide encyclopaedic articles, not personal reflections. People who have already contributed a lot to the encyclopaedia are often given a little more leeway about adding details about themselves, but if you only write about yourself, you will have to find another place to do that.--bonadea contributions talk 07:38, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
bonadea, this is the third time Kanishk1901 has reposted the material on his user page after deletion. See [1]. Earlier he had also posted the material on the now-deleted Category:Kanishk Gupta (KG). He has removed the two notes I posted here concerning his inappropriate use of this talk page and Wikipedia in general [2], [3]. Nothing seems to be getting through. He has already used up the time of three admins and is about to add a fourth to delete his user page once again. Voceditenore (talk) 09:54, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the repeated content. I don't want anyone to get disappointed by my post. I only posted it because Drm310 told me that we can add basic information about ourself and about the content we want to upload on Wikipedia. If I remove the content which follows to my social media A/C then, can I re-upload the portion above it. As I am new to Wikipedia, I face some difficulty in knowing what should we have to post on it. Can anyone of you hilight the portion which is appropriate in the content which is deleted again or each and every word is inappropriate. Do tell and please help me! Sorry again for disappointing you guys. As, because I am new to Wikipedia, so it takes time for me to learn all the rules and regulations about it. Thanks for telling my mistakes. I will try my best to not to repeat it again and again. Kanishk1901 (talk) 11:13, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Voceditenore as you told me that the content which publish in my user talk is inappropriate. So I deleted my whole user talk about it. Alongwith, your message get also deleted. Otherwise I don't have intention to remove your message. Sorry again, if I did something wrong. Kanishk1901 (talk) 11:30, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kanishk1901, you can put on your user page something like this:
I am an editor from India. I speak Hindi and English. I am studying to be a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. I also write song lyrics in Hindi and English.
If/when you actually do any constructive editing on Wikipedia, you can also list the articles you have worked on or plan to work on. Although not forbidden, you should think very carefully about putting your real-life name and especially your date of birth on your user page. There is more about privacy issues here.
There should be NO links to your social media sites and NO commentary about your alleged dreams in life and how you want Wikipedia to support you in achieving them. That is NOT the purpose of Wikipedia. In fact, it is YOUR duty as an editor to support Wikipedia's goal of publishing a free, accurate, and comprehensive ENCYCLOPEDIA. If you are not prepared to actually do the work required to build and improve the encyclopedia, then I'm afraid you shouldn't be here. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but this message has so far not got through to you. Voceditenore (talk) 11:58, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Kanishk1901, you are to be commended for finally removing the Corona virus pseudo article from your talk page. It is permitted to remove other editors' comments from your talk page. I pointed out the messages which you had deleted to illustrate that you had received repeated guidance on the use of your user and user talk pages, but nevertheless did not appear to understand anything that people were telling you. I'm glad you have at least appeared to understand a bit more about the appropriate use of your talk page. Voceditenore (talk) 12:32, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much Voceditenore. Now, I completely understand what you are saying. From now onwards I will try my best that no one gets offended by my post. And also, I assure you that, I will only publish that article on Wikipedia which is as per Wikipedia's goals. Untill unless I completely understand the rules and regulations, I will not post anything on Wikipedia. Thank you again🙂 Kanishk1901 (talk) 14:08, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
