Do you intend to implement the same changes to all 51 articles on United States presidential elections by state (and the District of Columbia)? If not, I will revert the changes to the Arkansas article. These articles must present consistent formatting across the series. BD2412 T 17:49, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

@BD2412: Well, I intend to do so, but I need some feedback on the changes and would definitely not prefer the changes being reverted. Firstly, not all articles are same. United States presidential elections in California differs from most of the others, but is's fine. If you and some other editors find my changes useful or suggest some other changes, I definitely would consider. These lists are of high significance, but could be improved. With a few more changes in Arkansas article including adding References and an engaging lead, I think it's status would increase by a lot. (Ultimate goal is FL, difficult, but would try!) Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:57, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
I think the gallery of election maps is an excellent and innovative addition. I would prefer to have the outcomes in reverse chronological order because I expect that readers will go to these articles most often to compare outcomes from the most recent elections. I would also note that by not indicating the winner of the state across the entire line, it makes it harder to see, for example, that George Wallace won Arkansas in 1968. BD2412 T 18:04, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
The outcome was initially in reverse-chronological order, but per WP:CHRONO and WP:SALORDER; and discussion on ChrisTheDude's talk page (here) concluded that these type of lists should be Chronological. For the other point, I would see if I can do as United States presidential elections in California does (by listing state winner in a column). Would make some other changes too! Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 18:10, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

BD2412 (Ping) Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 18:11, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Bear in mind as well that these tables need to be easy enough to edit for new results to be added every four years. I suppose it is beyond me to maintain all of these now. BD2412 T 19:09, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
@BD2412: I guess I have completed my work with United States presidential elections in Arkansas. If possible, please review the changes. I implemented some of your suggestions, added various sources, added a graph and expanded the lead. I would also request some other users active at WP:FLC to give their suggestions. When the structure and other details about this article would be cleared, I would implement changes in all the articles throughout the series. Thanks! Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:39, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Aside from the preferences I have already noted (particularly the chronological order), I think the key at the top has too long a vertical footprint, and would suggest perhaps dividing it into columns. Three columns of five rows each would do. BD2412 T 17:47, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
@BD2412 – I have fixed the vertical footprint issue. Also, the list is a FAC now, so if you have any comments or suggestion, I would appreciate it on it's nomination page. Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:53, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Lyndon B. Johnson 1964 presidential campaign

On 10 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lyndon B. Johnson 1964 presidential campaign, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that although the "Daisy" advertisement (pictured) was aired only once, it is considered to be one of the most important factors for victory in Lyndon B. Johnson's 1964 presidential campaign? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lyndon B. Johnson 1964 presidential campaign. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Lyndon B. GAN for Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign

I am doing a copyedit of Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign, and I want you to know that this article is in really good shape. I think it is close to being ready for a WP:GAN. Afterwards, if all available sources have been consulted, I recommend putting this through a WP:PR to get it ready for WP:FAC. If you want further comments for improvement, or help navigating these processes, please ping me and I'll leave further comments. Z1720 (talk) 20:12, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Z1720: Thanks a lot for copy-editing the article. Just a note that if you will continue editing or have finished the copy-edit, please mention the same on WP:GOCE/REQ page at my request here. I think that it is a nice time to submit it at GAN, as it would probably be taken for review withing 1-2 weeks due to their backlog drive. And I think this article can be a potential FA, but needs some issues to be resolved, which would be done in PR. If possible, please provide some comments for further improvement before GAN. Thanks again for your previous help in PR of this article. Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 03:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Typing on my phone, sorry if formatting is weird: I did a copyedit as part of its DYK nomination. I suggest that someone at GOCE also does a copyedit as they are much better at fixing articles than me. I'll still review the article and leave comments: if I don't post on the article's talk page within a week, please ping me as I have forgotten. Z1720 (talk) 03:50, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
@Z1720 – Hi! Would you be able to take a look at Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign, which just passed it GA. I have opened a peer review page, and aiming to nominate it for Featured article. Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:45, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
I'll add it to my list, but no guarentees. I'm currently working on the WP:FAC backlog, and once that is over I'll review PRs on Template:FAC peer review sidebar. Z1720 (talk) 18:49, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

The article George H. W. Bush 1992 presidential campaign you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:George H. W. Bush 1992 presidential campaign for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. On 15 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign

Hello:

I'm about to start your GOCE copy edit request on the article Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign. I notice you are still making changes to it. If you have additional changes to make please let me know and I will postpone my copy edit until you are finished. Thanks,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 19:06, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Twofingered Typist – You can surely continue with copy-editing the article. I don't think I have any other major changes to make. I intend to nominate this article for GA. Also, it would be helpful is you could make a special check for neutrality in "Media and polls; the final days" subsection, to prevent any future issues. Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 03:15, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Harry S. Truman 1948 presidential campaign has been completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I don't see anything on the talk page about "neutrality" issues, but I believe the section is as neutral as it can be; every statement is cited.

Hopefully that will do.

Best of luck with the GAN.

Twofingered Typist (talk) 15:28, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Twofingered Typist – As always, thanks a lot for copy-editing the article. My only concern is that I see you have capitalized "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN", a newspaper heading. Although not a major issue, but would it be better to use it in small caps, as specified in MOS:ALLCAPS? Please correct me if I am wrong. And once again, Thanks a lot for your help! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 15:37, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
@Kavyansh.Singh: In this case I would say the use of all caps is justified because it reflects how the newspaper printed the erroneous headline. Twofingered Typist (talk) 17:28, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Follow-up on "Daisy" ad

Hello, Kavyansh.Singh, thank you very much for contacting me. Yes, as stated in the narrative adjacent to the video on the page, the version given is not actually complete. A full clip with President Johnson's voiceover (copy as preserved in the LBJ Library) can be reviewed on YouTube at the noted external link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cwqHB6QeUw). As a long-time contributor to Wikipedia, I work chiefly in the realm of American film history, mainly expanding stubs and creating needed pages on lost "photoplays" and biographies on directors, screenwriters, and actors of the early silent era. I work in other areas of moving images as well; and, in fact, I vividly remember viewing this political ad as a boy in 1964 and afterwards experiencing a number of sleepless nights. I do think the caption, in addition to having a standard runtime reference, needs to avoid a "complete" identification owing to the absence of the voiceover. Thanks again for the follow-up and inquiry. Have a great week. Strudjum

On 19 August 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Electoral history of Bill Clinton, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. TFL notification

Hi, Kavyansh.Singh. I'm just posting to let you know that United States presidential elections in Arkansas – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for September 20. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 22:28, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

@Giants2008 – Thanks a lot for that. I see no issues with the blurb. Maybe now I'll be posting TFL blurb as soon as new lists get promoted in the United States presidential elections series. For my thoughts on selection, could we make the process somewhat similar as TFA. Nevertheless, it still works fine.. Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 03:25, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank for good DYK reviewing in August! A penny for your thoughts

Hello! I saw your nomination of United States presidential elections in Hawaii for FL some days ago and decided to do something similar for my home province of Basque Country in Spain. I'm approximately halfway done (it's a somewhat complex list for a first list creation on my side) and I was wondering if you had any feedback or thoughts on the first section of my draft. I'm quite new to Wikipedia contributing and an *absolute beginner* to making lists so any and all criticism is more than appreciated. Hope you're enjoying your weekend! A. C. Santacruz Talk 21:53, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

@A._C._Santacruz – Hi! I saw your draft, and I think its good overall. The main issue I find here is the width of the table. It's quite huge. Can we narrow the inclusion criteria to merge the sixth, fifth, and possibly fourth columns with the "Other parties" column? The table needs to be chronological, and we should have "General elections of the 19th Century" section before the "General elections after Franco" section. The sources for the table look reliable, but we need translation for the titles from Spanish to English [inside square brackets]. Be consistent with the URL access date format. We currently have two different date formats ("September 10, 2021" and "2021-09-11"). Few citations are not formatted properly (Ref#10, Ref#12), and some lack URL access date. The capitalized titles in references (RAMIREZ DE LA PISCINA, etc.) should be in lowercase. The "See also" section should be before the "Notes and references" section. Considering the length of the article, the lead should not have more than 2 paragraphs. Rest, it looks good. Feel free to let me know anything I can help with. And ping me whenever you take this to FLC... Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 06:14, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your feedback Kavyansh.Singh! Sorry for the late reply. I'll work on the references and citations' formatting errors as a last step before moving into mainspace, but wanted to address the issue of the table being too wide. I completely agree, but worry about obscuring information by merging those columns. Would making a second, collapsible, table to include these other seat-winning parties be some kind of band-aid fix? I originally thought of making those columns collapsable but realized there is no real way to do so (unlike Excel or Google Sheets). Once again, thanks for your help. A. C. Santacruz Talk 20:35, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
@A. C. Santacruz – Hi! I think it would be redundant to have two table for a topic which can be covered in a table. How about something like this: – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 09:41, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Daisy (advertisement)

On 20 September 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Daisy (advertisement), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Monique Corzilius did not realize that she was the girl featured in the famous "Daisy" advertisement (pictured) until the 2000s, when she searched for the commercial on the Internet? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Daisy (advertisement). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Daisy (advertisement)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Daisy

Hello:

Not to be picky, but I broke the lede of "Daisy" into four paragraphs for a reason. Generally the lede in a WP article is four paragraphs long. More importantly, the paragraph deals with two related but different subjects. That's why I made the commercial's content s separate paragraph. I'm surprised no one picked up on this when the article was reviewed for GA and now FA. Just so you know. Twofingered Typist (talk) 12:23, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

Toolforge Hyphenator

Pretty cool tool, and I've never seen it used before. Works for me, too, but I don't know a quick link to this tool. Doesn't seem to be in my "Tools" sidebar. Is there a quick access to this somewhere? — Maile (talk) 13:49, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

As a friendly heads up, WP:ISBN advises against converting 10-digit ISBNS to 13-digit ISBNs, unless the 13-digit ISBN appears in the original work. As it says, "if an older work only lists an ISBN-10, use that in citations instead of calculating an ISBN-13 for it. This is because ISBNs are often used as search strings and checksum differences between the two forms make it difficult to find items listed only under the other type." --Usernameunique (talk) 14:13, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
@Usernameunique – Yeah, I usually convert ISBN 10 to 13 only if there is inconsistency of its usage on the article. I somehow missed that on ‪William Chaney‬'s article, sorry for that. Re to @Maile66 – I don't know that if there's a quick access to this tool (can access by this link), but it is indeed easy and useful. Also, take care of the above point, which I usually miss.. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 14:22, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

Prep sets at DYK

Hi, Kavyansh.Singh! Thanks for your hard work helping build the prep sets at DYK—it took me quite a bit to get the hang of it, so I hope you don't mind if I offer some advice as you go.

First, excellent job on balancing the prep sets (i'll be focusing on prep set 4 for this one)—four U.S. hooks and two biographies is within the current limits (the upper limits for both are 3 or 4 U.S. and/or bio hooks for prep set, but sometimes there will be extra limits that you can find on the talk page because we run shortages). The hooks are from diverse topics, the image is good—overall, awesome work! When building prep sets, you generally want to try to keep hooks from the same country apart—so you don't want two U.S. hooks next to each other, and you also don't want two bio hooks next to each other. Also, the nomination page is sorted in chronological order—so if you can pull hooks from closer to the top for a few, it helps the nominators who have been waiting for promotion for a while.

That's all I've got for now—I really appreciate your getting involved! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message at my talk page. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 16:54, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

@Theleekycauldron – Thanks a lot for your note, I really appreciate it I really do!. Mechitzaing the hooks is something which I usually miss, but thanks for taking care of it. Will try to include more hooks from older nomination. Thanks for being kind enough to help! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:07, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

DYK format

Just wanted to let you know that while it’s great to see more folks working DYK, I have over 60 DYK contributions and it’s kind of bad form to go in and make edits of someone’s hook beyond fixing typos and other very superficial tweaks. While I am willing to let the reviewer discuss whether a birth-death listing is appropriate, Earl Old Person died less than a week ago and they haven’t even held his funeral yet, so noting he died recently is going to be relevant. Montanabw(talk) 22:02, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

@Montanabw – Thanks for being kind enough to drop a message here, and thanks for assuming my edit in good faith!. I'll surely leave it to the reviewer to decide whether birth-death listing is appropriate, but I do want to note that listing it as "1929–2021" isn't helpful. Till 2021 means from January 1 till the date when the hook would be on the main page. I guess, million of people died in those 10 months. Death of Earl Old Person may be notable, but his death in 2021 is not that notable, and that was the primary reason I removed it. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 06:19, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
It’s a debatable point. What’s notable was his longevity, both in office and that he was pretty active his entire life, hence the age note… maybe subtle, but I guess we’ll see. Thanks for your thoughts. Montanabw(talk) 06:57, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

LOL, now you can see what happens when someone hasn’t done a DYK for a couple years—sorry for screwing up the syntax. I used to do prep sets, so I really did know better than to make that mistake. Arrgh. By the way, good work on that LaFollette article, …DYK that Montana’s Burton K. Wheeler was his running mate on the progressive ticket in 1924? And also DYK that they pulled the largest third party vote in history up to that time, not to be surpassed until Ross Perot in 1992? Montanabw(talk) 05:31, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

@Montanabw – No issues, and thanks for "Fighting Bob". They pulled out 16.6% of the popular vote, which I have indeed included as a hook in its DYK nomination. After all, La Follette was the only candidate in the 1924 election to offer different views. Both Coolidge and Davis had almost same view... Also, DYK that La Follette was selected by the John F. Kennedy senate committee as one of the 5 senators form entire history to be listed in the senatorial "hall of fame"? – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 05:44, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
Fascinating fellow. If you like working on these articles, Wheeler’s could be improved. There’s a solid new biography of him that just came out, though I haven’t read it yet . I’m not around WP a ton, but I’d be glad to do at least some minor work on such a project. Montanabw(talk) 06:47, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
Nice idea, will see what I can do. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 07:35, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

And congratulations for Chief Justice Fuller! I promise that if I ever write any Supreme Court Justice biography, first one will be William O. Douglas What really amazed me was that when Lyndon B. Johnson 1964 presidential campaign was on the main page under Did you know? section as the bold link, it received a grand total of around 3,500 page views. Surprisingly, the "Daisy" article, which wasn't even boldfaced received around 16,000 page views (4.5 times more)! So ... I do want to see it on the main page again. Either on September 7, 2024 (60th anniversary of the 60 second ad), or on the 2024 Election night. Have to wait long for either of them... so have decided to better go for Sept 7 the next year. Thanks again! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 07:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

Congratulations! I'd give you Precious for it but - I just did that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:36, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt – Thanks a lot! I really appreciate all that you are doing for music articles on DYK and elsewhere! I'm trying to do my part by reviewing a few of them. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 07:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, and for reviewing. I believe the article could run any day, so if you like I could nominate it without day request, - how is that? If you want to go for September 7, you can enter it now on WP:TFARP, - so far only requests for Septeber 1 and 4. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:28, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt – Lets go for September 7 the next year, rather than waiting till 2024. I've added it to WP:TFARP. I don't wish to see it on the main page this year any soon, as it has already been under DYK with the video 2 times! Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 07:46, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

Quirky hooks

Hey, Kavyansh.Singh! First, congrats on the FA—that's really awesome, and it looks like you put a lot of work into it! I did want to tell you something you might not have caught about prep building, too. There's a bit of a tradition/rule/thing that the last hook in every prep set should be quirky, or funny, or hopefully at least puzzling. My favourite quirky hook (and perhaps my favourite hook of all time), is this one: (Did you know...)

... that the manufacturers of Hedgehog Flavour Crisps were taken to court under the Trade Descriptions Act as they did not contain actual hedgehog?

I think it's perfect. Regardless, when you go through and make sets, try and set aside the last one for something funny or quirky. Happy prep building! theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 18:08, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

@Theleekycauldron – Oh sure, will do that in future preps. Rest, this time I tried to balance the hook with 3 American and 3 biographies, trying to mechitzaing everything. Prep building is really interesting, and will try to do more in the future. Thanks a lot for your help. Also, glad to see that "Daisy" is also one of your favorite DYK! That article really made interested in knowing about LBJ, and have since written various articles about him. Feel free to let me know if there is anyway I can help you, including reviewing/promoting your backlogged nominations. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 18:37, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
Awesome! i think i'm good for now on backlogged nominations, but I do appreciate the offer :) and I did notice that you balanced and mechitza'd everything, you're really getting the hang of this! LBJ is a fascinating character, too, so i did really like the Daisy hook. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 18:42, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

I finally did it!

@Kavyansh.Singh: I never thought I'd be able to do this, but I nominated it. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 20:11, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

If you don't mind me getting ahead of myself: should this become a featured article, how would I nominate it to be queued up for the front page? I understand it's an obscure subject, but I would still love to show it to the wider Wikipedia readership instead of it just being something that someone accidentally clicks on when they're searching for the philosopher. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 21:49, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
First draft of Truman's whistle-stop tour stops. All thanks to Guerillero!
Hi! @TheTechnician27 – Should this become a featured article, you can nominate it to be featured on the main page as WP:TFA. There, after getting a community consensus (which I think in this case would be un-controversial, as it would be a recent promotion then), it would be queued up by TFA coordinators. More important is to decide when do you want it to be featured? Nelson's birth anniversary, death anniversary? the day when Minnesota was admitted to the union? no specific date? etc.. By the way, how does the first draft of Truman's whistle stop tour map looks? All thanks to Guerillero. I have requested few more changes, but it looks really nice to me... – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 10:28, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
@Kavyansh.Singh: That map is fantastic! It just bumped me up from a FAC support to a TFA support. It's better than what I was thinking of! TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 17:13, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
Is it possible to make the typeface should be just a bit bigger? Like if it's a 7-point right now, maybe it could be a 9? I can read it, but I have 20/20 vision. It might be a bit inaccessible for some more far-sighted readers. Come to think of it, it looks good when zooming in, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 17:15, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Kavyansh.Singh. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 16:25, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
