Welcome![edit]

Hello, Kcabinternational, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, please see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! —C.Fred (talk) 02:04, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

About your username...[edit]

Your username violates our username policy, because it is the name of your employer. Not only do you need to change your username, but you also need to make very clear your status as a paid editor. —C.Fred (talk) 02:43, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Understood, sorry as an intern, I am not aware of how Wikipedia works. I will carefully review the guidelines that you sent me. In the meantime, would it be possible to shut down the publications I have written so far with this profile maybe ? Kcabinternational (talk) 02:51, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

March 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Hello. I wanted to ask you how, as anintern, working at KCAB, am I allowed to make a contribution describing objectively and neutral way which services our institution provides ? (similarly to the International Chamber of Commerce Wikipedia page, that was the reference I was given). Even if I need to disclose any compensation in relation to the paid-contribution disclosure, I am willing to make any modifications to the text and add references to comply with Wikpedia guidelines. A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Kcabinternational, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I will disclose my employer and strive for complying with Wikipedia guidelines as I understand that this platform is only used for informing and not advertising or promoting. I will add references for more objectivity and will be careful with the language employed. My first intention is to provide a page on KCAB describing how it functions (governing bodies) and the services in a neutral way, such as the Wikipedia page of the International Chamber of Commerce. I am willing to disclose my employer pursuant to the paid-disclosure guidelines too. I would be happy to receive any kind of feedback on the text I will submit to fulfill Wikipedia requirements. I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Kcabinternational (talk) 04:54, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Please address the reasons for your block. They are promotional edits and a promotional username. Please follow the instructions in the block notice on your talk page. Please post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use.

WIKIPEDIA is an encyclopedia. It is not a place for promoting anything or anyone or for any form of advocacy. You will not be unblocked to make promotional edits. Please describe what (non promotional) constructive edits you would make.

BECAUSE Wikipedia's policy is that usernames should not be shared between more than one individual, the following types of usernames are not permitted because they imply shared use:

USERNAMES that are simply names of companies or groups are not permitted (these also fall under Promotional names). Personal usernames that imply shared access, such as "Jack and Jill", are not permitted. Usernames that are names of posts within organizations, such as "Secretary of the XY Foundation", are not permitted, as such a post may be held by different persons at different times.

HOWEVER, usernames are acceptable if they contain a company or group name but are clearly intended to denote an individual person, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", "WidgetFan87", etc. Please see the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks

Request reason:

Thank you for your guidance. My primary goal by making a contribution is to post an informative and factual post about the institution I intern at. Now that I read carefully the guidelines of Wikipedia, I will make sure to comply with them, by learning from my first mistakes on the website. I will not only disclose that my contribution is paid-contribution to avoid any conflicts of interest but also use the templates that I was adviced to include such as {{connected contributor (paid)}}. In other words, I will take all the necessary steps before publishing content.
I understand that Wikipedia aims to be neutral, purely informative and that no advertisement is allowed. Me and our institution are aware of it. I will take more time to review my mistakes before posting such as adding more references and use a neutral language by speaking facts only. An example of constructive edit that I would like to make, is similar to the Wikipedia page of International Chamber of Commerce , and will try my best to write from a neutral point of view to explain the creation of an arbitral institution. Therefore, my post will be purely informative about an arbitral institution. I will mainly focus on its creation, and its governing bodies and the framework in which it operates if it can narrow down the content and the promotional bias. Thank you again. Kcabinternational (talk) 07:56, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

On Wikipedia, there is no difference between "informing" and "promoting". Wikipedia is not for merely providing information, and it is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves and what they do. A Wikipedia article(the proper term, not "page") summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about (in this case) an organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. We aren't interested in what an organization says about itself, only in what sources wholly unconnected with the organization choose to say about it. You've made the required paid disclosure, but please read conflict of interest. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your organization. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a general contributor and editing about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. After you build up a good edit history showing that you understand relevant policies about contributing and sourcing, you may later be permitted to indirectly contribute about your organization, but not now. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:50, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'd also suggest you read WP:BOSS. 331dot (talk) 08:50, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you 331dot for your answer and time, it is clearer. I will spend some time to reflect on your comment and read about the different links you sent me.
After reading the administrators' comments, including yours, I would be inclined and motivated to participate as a general contributor and editing about topics I am genuinely interested in, in an encyclopedic style. For example, as an aspiring international lawyer, I am willing to make some edits about any commercial, investment arbitration, European law topics (conventions, research of case law, technical expertise...) that I may find on Wikipedia. Additionally, I am interested in some emerging topics and markets which I believe could be a great addition to Wikipedia purpose such as blockchain, metaverse, web 3.0 disputes, ESG... Having a multiple cultural background, I am willing to contribute to make edits on any Vietnamese or French-related cultural or historical topics too. I believe that my curiosity will probably help me to find some other areas of interests the more time I spend time on Wikipedia.
For the above reasons, I would kindly appreciate, if you could give me a chance so that I can participate in my own way to the noble purpose of Wikipedia, which is to create an accessible compilation of knowledge for all.
As a first step, if you grant me this permission, I would like to change my username to my actual name to remove any bias/conflict of interest from this user's page.
Best regards. Kcabinternational (talk) 16:37, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: Is a new unblock request needed, since the last one was declined? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:22, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Cullen328 is the blocking admin, if he's okay with it I'd be willing to unblock. To this user, if you want to use your real name, you may, though there are reasons one might not want to. If it's your proposed new username that you had in your last request, I can change it. 331dot (talk) 19:37, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
331dot, I have no objections. Thanks for asking. Cullen328 (talk) 19:46, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Elisagoubeau, I've removed the block per your statement above. Good luck, and please ask at the Teahouse or Help Desk. 331dot (talk) 20:14, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated. I wish you to have a nice day or evening wherever your are. 203.242.156.182 (talk) 02:00, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
