Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Edward Hain Hospital. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Please help by adding more sources to the article you edited, and/or by clarifying how the sources already given support the claims (see here for how to do inline referencing). If you need further help, you can look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse, or just ask me. Thank you. Dormskirk (talk) 19:38, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Domskirk,
How soon do I need to do that? I will give it my best shot - but not today, as I’m so tired I can’t think straight, so won't be able to follow written instructions.
So for example you’re saying I’d need to cite articles proving that
1. The EH Hospital was closed by the NHS, and that
2. It is now the Edward Hain Centre?
One reliable source: me! I'm the great-niece of Capt. Edward Hain after whom the hospital was named the new centre is named; plus I'm a trustee/director of the new centre. And attempting to manage social and other media...
Can I ref. Facebook pages? Or is that not a reliable source?
Is there more than that? Thanks for any help. The only times I’ve contributed previously to Wiki, my changes haven’t been questioned.
All best,
Kit Kitgrind (talk) 20:05, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - I have reverted your changes so there is no urgency to add citations. However, please take a look at WP:RS. It explains what sources are regarded as reliable. In general, Facebook is not regarded as an acceptable source (See WP:SPS). Also if you are related to Edward Hain or are in any way connected to the new centre please read WP:COI. Thanks. Hi again, thanks for your feedback. Not surprised that FB isn't seen as reliable! I'm surprised though that this could be seen as a COI. It's objective facts: the hospital closed; when this happened; the opening of a new centre...all widely reported on in the local and national British media a matter of weeks ago. My involvement is 1. as a volunteer and 2. as an unpaid trustee of the charity that runs the hospital. I also run media for the charity, writing the centre's website content and also press releases. So if I'm able to figure out how to add source material (which should prove my objectivity) and leave it at that, what would happen? Thank you. Kitgrind (talk) 22:25, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - If you are in any way connected with the charity that runs the hospital, especially if you are one of the trustees, you need to follow WP:COI. You need to disclose that conflict on the article talk page in accordance with WP:COI. You can then post any proposed changes together with the proposed citations to the article talk page. I hope that helps. Dormskirk (talk) 22:43, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Domskirk. I'll try and follow that advice tomorrow when my head is fresher. Meanwhile I've checked out the page's Talk section but can't see anywhere obvious to add COI info. Do I add a new section, titled COI? Or...? Kitgrind (talk) 22:53, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - Please feel free to use the "start a discussion" button to place it next in sequence. Thanks, Dormskirk (talk) 23:40, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
