Template:Current
I think you don't understand how this template is intended to be used. The purpose of the banner is to be placed on current events. Parameter 2's purpose is to alter the text of the banner so that it can be used to add additional description to the event. But it should only be used for current events. The text you quote, "As an advisory to editors, the template may optionally be used on those extraordinary occasions that many editors (perhaps a hundred or more) edit an article on the same day (for example, in the case of natural disasters or other breaking news)," is consistent with that. It places the page into [[:Category:Current events]]! So, are you saying it is a current event, or it's not? Bsherr (talk) 01:02, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Not understanding this hyper literal argument. I mean, that earthquake in Turkey meets the requirements for having a current events tag, yet the earthquake isn't ongoing. Also, you ommitted the excerpt where they say
on the same day or more
. Crusader1096 (message) 01:10, 7 February 2023 (UTC)- I don't understand. If you acknowledge it's a current event, what's the issue with the default text of the banner? --Bsherr (talk) 01:20, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Because its a past event. The banner is still being used because it is recent and still being actively edited as a result. Crusader1096 (message) 01:23, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think maybe you have a mistakenly literal definition of a current event. wikt:Current events are "those events and issues of interest currently found in the news". Thus, the death of an important person would be a current event, even if the person is not literally currently dying anymore. Make sense? --Bsherr (talk) 01:27, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
the death of an important person would be a current event, even if the person is not literally currently dying anymore
that's why whenever someone major dies, we use a template that explicitly states that thesubject has recently died
. Crusader1096 (message) 03:34, 7 February 2023 (UTC)- Okay, other examples. An airplane crash would be a current event, even if the plane is not in the air or currently burning. A championship sports match would be a current event even if the match ended a short while ago. A bank robbery would be a current event even if the robbers have left the bank. --Bsherr (talk) 04:40, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Brentalfloss pfp.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Brentalfloss pfp.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:15, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi Knightoftheswords281, I know WP:ITNC is full of people being sarcastic/rude/etc, but your comments in the LeBron James and Super Bowl entries stand out to me as particularly so. I don't recognize the name, so I assume this isn't typical of your posts there. Please dial back the aggression in your comments.
A separate issue that I don't plan on doing anything about, but others might: why is your signature different than your username? Is that new? You can always ask for an account rename if you prefer the name in your signature. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:48, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Warning: Song samples
The rule of thumb you have invoked states non-free audio samples should not exceed 10% of a song's duration. This is different for each song and has to be measured individually. For the song "Deja Vu", for example, an allowed sample would be around 21 seconds. They should be used only if their presence significantly increases readers' understanding of the article, per WP:NFCC#8, not tacked into the infobox without captions. Please cease these additions immediately. Regards.--NØ 04:34, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Rule of thumb states 10% OR around 30 seconds. Now if you really are passionate about this, as I refused to be mired in this, I or you can upload a trimmed version to meet the minimum 10% limit. Crusader1096 (message) 05:07, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
