You declined this draft with the standardized statement that it "reads like an advertisement". What, exactly, do you feel gave it that character? (I'm not the author, btw.) --Hegvald (talk) 18:20, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello Hegvald, I picked that reason because it read to me somewhat like a resume - going from one job and its achievements to the next, without a sense of overall narrative. Was that wrong? In hindsight, my primary concern was notability, so perhaps I should’ve gone with that. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 01:39, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Just adding: I'm going to take a break from AfC for a while, so if you disagree, please feel free to approve the article. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 02:22, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello Kohlrabi Pickle. I am the creator of this article. I'd like further clarification on your decision to decline it. In your comment you note that "Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed." The page has 18 sources. Of those, only one -- a corporate annual report -- has even the slightest link to the subject of the article. The other sources include major media organizations like Bloomberg, The Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Reuters and one of the largest news organizations in Sweden. Moreover, the article includes a detailed discussion of criminal charges brought against this person. How do you construe that to "read like an advertisement"? Given the already limited size of Wikiproject:Sweden, and in the spirit of inclusiveness, I hope you will reconsider your decision to decline this article Swickouski (talk) 03:49, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello Swickousi. I see a number of problems with the article. I picked "advertisement", because I don't think the draft makes clear why Ola Rollén is notable. Being a CEO of a large company is not, in and of itself, enough, because notability is not inherited, and each of the sources in English refer to him only in context of his leadership of Hexagon. The article also focuses on a narrative of things he's done without any sense of what makes them encyclopedic. For example, In 1996, Ola Rollén became president of Kanthal. Two years later he changed jobs and became vice president at Avesta Sheffield. In 1999, he became CEO of Sandvik Stål (now Sandvik Materials Technology) in Sandviken. Are these companies important? What makes his tenure there worthy of note? Consider: "Ola Rollen became president of Kanthal, where he became known for xx. Thereafter, Kanthal was acquired by Sandvik (is it a big company? was the acquisition at an especially high valuation?)." Is it this Sandvik? One of the red flags for me was that one of the references is to another person's Fortune profile: Melker Schorling. Does he not have one of his own we can point to, even if it is in Swedish? There's one that comes close: [1], but this is a profile of the company, not the individual.
It was not obvious to me on a reading of the draft, but having done some more research, I think Ola Rollen probably is notable. The media seems to have described the bribery charges against him as a stain on the entire Swedish business community. He's also been described as a well-known figure in the geospatial world, and is known for having grown Hexagon from a small conglomerate to a global leader (this is a better claim to notability than being CEO). If you resubmit the draft, I will approve it, and tag it for maintenance so that other editors can work on developing it. Also - thank you for the work you've already put into it. I understand and sympathise with the cause of improving coverage on less-seen topics on Wikipedia. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 04:23, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you. I have resubmitted. Swickouski (talk) 14:46, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

AFC submit on behalf of other users

I don't know if this was added recently or if it's been there for years, but the AFC tools now allow you to submit a draft on behalf of someone else. That's what I did. It's a good way to handle cases like this where the author seems to have left Wikipedia and the draft is worth accepting. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 02:47, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

davidwr, that's helpful, thanks. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 02:50, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
