Eliot Talemwa moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Eliot Talemwa, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 00:11, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Winfred Nakanwagi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. CUPIDICAE💕 00:35, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Winfred Nakanwagi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://flashugnews.com/winnie-nwagi-biography-music-education/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Information icon Hello, Kyakwera. I noticed that your recent edit to Irene Ntale added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Kyakwera. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page A Pass, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. The image appears to be a professional photo shoot. Please explain the circumstances that led to you taking the image; otherwise, it appears that you were hired to take the image.C.Fred (talk) 11:24, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@C.Fred Thank you for your contributions that are making the Wikimedia Foundation projects better every single day.
As Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda, we have been facing a challenge of most of the Wikipedia articles about Ugandan people, reserves, places and among other topics not having images in them and some the reasons for that include;
  • Most of our members do not have good cameras or good smart phones that can take high quality images that are above 2 MBs.
  • It is hard to meet people with Wikipedia articles in person to take their images and then upload them on Wikimedia Commons since most people are in different parts of Uganda.
  • There are no free images to upload on the internet for those particular people in the articles and most of the editors do not know how to look for free images on the internet.
So we came up with some strategies such as;
  • Reaching out directly to those people with Wikipedia articles and ask them to share their images via email, cloud transfer platforms or even social media platforms as long as the sharing media can retain the meta data of the file being shared. And of course, if someone is contacted to share their image, they will want a nice professional image of them to be uploaded and that is how the photoshoot comes into play. They go to photo studios and then after they share them with us.
  • Photographers donating their images. As a usergroup we usually request professional photographers to share/donate their images that they are not going to upload on social media sites or certain websites so that we upload them on Wikimedia Commons instead of deleting them since they usually work with many people and also visit many places. Since they are professionals, they usually first batch edit those images before sharing them.
    • And the donated images can be of people (Artisits, politicians, music producers, actors among other people), animals among other things. You might find some one was photographed 10 images and he or she chooses only two images and the eight are donated to the user group by the photographer.
    • Some photographers add the their copyright information such as author names and license within there cameras/devices while others don't. So at times, hard to trace which photographer took which image so that it is attributed/credited to them that is why some editors usually upload them as their own work but those who add the copyright information are always credited for their work even if someone else uploads those images.
  • Encourage and on boarding more professional photographers. It is also hard for photographers to upload their images with editing them.
  • Some photographers are willing to donate the images but they don't have the time to upload those images to Wikimedia Commons so they usually share them with someone they believe will upload them to Wikimedia Commons.
That is how some of the images come up as someone arranged a photoshoot for other intentions.
Thank you so much. We are open to all suggestions that can help us to improve our contributions to all Wikimedia Foundation Projects. BalukuBrian (talk) 13:52, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All that may be true, but I was asking specifically about File:APass.jpg, which is a photo that you state that you took. Are you implying that you didn't take the photo, but instead you misattributed it when you uploaded it? —C.Fred (talk) 21:09, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In restrospect to what@BalukuBriansaid we as a user group go through the above narrative but to answer your question on Apass image
Yes I took the image but the edits where done by someone else. 197.239.9.96 (talk) 08:02, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Regarding File:Toniks.jpg: You need to get the photographer to email Wikimedia Commons directly to affirm that the image is under a Creative Commons license. —C.Fred (talk) 14:17, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Ok will do so.Thank you Kyakwera (talk) 14:21, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
