WELCOME

Greetings and Welcome! I noticed that your username shows up red when you post an edit -- in case you were wondering why, this is because your userpage is devoid of content. If you were to place anything at all on your userpage (text, photographs, etc.), your username would then appear blue by default. By convention, most contributing editors who intend on becoming a part of the Wikipedia family generally place information about themselves on their userpages to let people know a little about themselves. As a result, editors whose usernames are still red may (however unjustly, yet, nonetheless) appear to other editors as lacking a serious motivation in both editing Wikipedia articles as well as joining the Wikipedia community at large. Although it is not at all required, I therefore recommend that you place something on your userpage, such as information relating to your city of residence or occupation -- basically anything that will allow another editor to identify with you and peer into your mind a bit. You can check out other editors' userpages to get an idea of what is normally included (find them easiest by checking the history tab on randomly chosen yet substantial articles), and even copy/paste from other editors' userpages (modifying the information to reflect your own, of course). Australian Touring Car Championship

You do know that V8 Supercar do not actually have the power to change race results years after a race takes place? They can issue as many press releases as they like, but changing of race results requires protests of existing result to CAMS then the judicial process kicks in. Referencing

I don't think you understand how to do referencing. For some pointers, I'd recommend leaving through WP:CITE and WP:V. But specifically, don't use website front pages for reference purposes. The linking URL should go straight to the item being referenced. Looking at the Mark Skaife refence you've just added, if you follow the link it goes to V8 Supercar's front page http://www.v8supercar.com.au/, on which there are no details about Mark Skaife's family. However on the web page you do want to reference is http://www.v8supercar.com.au/drivers/DriverDetails.asp?ind=&DID=197, which is Mark Skaife's profile page within the V8 Supercar website. --Falcadore (talk) 07:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Notability of V8 Supercars Fan Group

The article V8 Supercars Fan Group has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Wikilinking racing drivers

Note your adding a bunch of new articles, but some of the race drivers links are pointing to footballers and other people. Just placing the square brackets around a drivers name does not always link to the page you want. If you look att the category:Australian racecar drivers it contains the list of Australian racing drivers pages as they appear on wikipedia. If you link it right the first time, it's less work for other editors. Please check the links on the Queensland 500 page please, and also note that the Queensland 500 is still an active race, just no longer for V8 Supercars. --Falcadore (talk) 02:20, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

No that one is wrong as well. From reading the article you can see the 246 F1 is actually a 1950's front-engined Formula 1 car. The 246T was based on the then current rear-engined Formula 2 car with a sports car racing engine of which there is no corresponding article. --Falcadore (talk) 10:26, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

ATCC points

Open class: 13-9-6-4-2-1
2 litre class: 9-6-4-2-1

That's not how the points worked. Points were awarded 4-3-2-1 for the first four race positions. 9-6-4-3-2-1 was then awarded for the top 6 positions in each class. Because the over 2 litre class almost always filled the top 4 spots it gives the impressions of 13 (9+4), 9 (6+3), 6 (4+2), 4 (3+1), 2, 1, but that was not always the case as several times a U2 car slipped into fourth, and on very rare occasion into third. --Falcadore (talk) 05:41, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

1999 Queensland 500

Please use the existing race format for V8 enduro races - as seen at 1999 Bathurst 1000, it saves someone else re-doing the page later. Also at the same pages you get a better idea of what the driver pairings are so you won't have to use initials. Also, it should be pointed out pointed that D.Parsons and S.Parsons, are the two drivers both called David John Parsons. 'Skippy' is the S.Parsons. The senior driver of the pairing is David 'Truckie' Parsons and 'Truckie' did the top ten lap. --Falcadore (talk) 09:50, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Last year there was 14 rounds this year there were 26. It was V8 upercar's decision to make. There is not a single verifiable reason to combine points of Saturday and Sunday race points. There were 14 rounds this year and 26 indivdual races. V8 Supercars have said that they will continue recording overall point scores for each weekend incase they go back to the old system of rounds. That is why they've changed the winning drivers list on their site from round wins to race wins, because each individual race in 2009 DID NOT count as a round win, but as a race win.

From the V8 Supercar site:

In the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series, there will be no event (formerly round) winner acknowledged. Each race will be its own entity with its own podium ceremony. Therefore only race winners will be acknowledged, rather than the previous system of round winners. In keeping with the relevance of statistics to the 2009 season, ‘race’ wins be referred to.

V8 Supercars Australia statisticians will continue to keep count of ‘event’ winners as per the previous system as a fallback should the rules change in the future and the old system ever be required again. However, ‘race wins’ is the relevant milestone figure for the V8 Supercar Championship Series in its current guise. It should also be noted that each ‘race’ in 2009 does not constitute what was previously known as a ‘round’ of the championship.

Oh, and NatSoft is keeping records of the overall point scores for each round, so the fans don't have to calculate it themselves :-). So, I propose changing the number of rounds won by each driver back to how I had it, or we change it to race wins, not round wins. - ^Kytabu_Talk 03:02, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Your cited reference article states these two yet to be announced drviers. By Speedcafe's own admission it's speculation. That story was removed previously as being speculation, so it's removed again. I personally believe that Owen is joinging the Supercheap team next year, but belief is not enough. I placed this article a while ago in my sandbox and have been editing it whenever I can. I've fixed up the dead links and some of the grammar issues within the article. I might grab your team structure section and add that to the article with a few minor changes (I was considering merging the two Kelly Racing cars under one heading). If you want to fix up any dead links in the actual article feel free to do so, I just copied and pasted the references which were already there. I'm tossing up whether or not to delete the 'driver roll call' section; all the drivers are mentioned in the team's history but it does provide a good summary of the drivers. ^Kytabu_Talk 13:21, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Ok. I've added the team structure part to the article now. Edit to your liking. I've fixed up the dead links and added some where needed. The driver roll call section needs to be reformatted. The "Endurance Only" drivers are just a list of Co-drivers in the team. That could be changed. 2011 section could be rethought a bit. Otherwise, the article looks fine. V8 Supercar images

Hey Kytabu,

I saw the images you uploaded onto the 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship. They're exactly what I think the article needed - the last few were messy and poorly-shot, but these images look great.

I'm wondering, though, if you wouldn't happen to have one of the Triple Eight Commodore (preferably of Whincup, but Lowndes will do if that's all you've got). As Triple Eight are the defending teams' champions, and since Whincup is driving for them, I'd like to include an image of his car under his picture in the article lead. If you don't have one, that's fine; it's not essential. But if you do happen to have one (especially if it is from a different angle to the other four), I think it will work very well. None of the NatSoft links work anymore which is why I deleted them (well, they work, but go to the results home page). Even if I copy and paste a new link in it still won't work. I had the same trouble on the V8s AGP page. I've put the Sports Sedan reference back in, though.

No you haven't, as the car is not a Formula 3000 either. Formula Libre most likelybut... the lap record you've picked upon was not set in a race but in a one-on-one sprint against a Falcon street car as stupid as it sounds. [2] Hopefully that link works. Falcadore can complain all he likes. I've seen what he he has put forward as a season summary on other pages, and to be brutally honest, it was terrible. He hasn't seen fit to address any of the issues with it, and until such time as he does, then I'm just going to keep going the way I have been, because I know it's better than what he produced with that write-up. Wait for more feedback. I'm expecting Falcadore to shoot it down the moment he sees it. He's already been less than impressed with me for the way I updated the article to include details of the Auckland races (never mind that the page was out of date). There's no sense in going through an updating the other season articles if he's just going to disapprove of it, because updating the other articles will do nothing to assuage his doubts over it.

Maybe I'm being unfair on him, and I probably shouldn't be so unflattering about it. But I've found that of late he tends to dominate discussions, and you have to convince him that a change is needed to make it stick - even if you've convinced everyone else. V8 Supercar support categories is a rather pointless category. Pretty much EVERY national series has supported V8 Supercar at one point or another. From historic Formula 1 and Formula 5000, Australian Superkart Championship, Historic Group N touring cars, Formula 3, Formula Ford, Aussie Racing Cars, Australian Production Car Championship, it's offshoots Nations Cup, GT-Production, Performance Cars, Australian GT Championship, Carrera Cup Australia, Saloon Car National Series, Historic Group A and Group C, Touring Car Masters, V8 Utes, Super touring once, Australian Mini Challenge, Sports Racer Series, Suzuki Swift Series.

As mentioned previously, easier to label which categories have not been V8 Supercar supports. In the instance you mention it would actually make more sense to cover support categories on the race article pages rather than to V8 Supercar itself, which makes more sense as in most case indivdual race promotors negotaite the support categories. Additionally under the example you mention, you don't mention "state" level categories but you've highlighted an Aerican Porsche category that was not on TV. Red Bull Ring = Returning or New?

Should the Red Bull Ring be listed as a "New" track or a "Returning" one? Because the Austrian GP was help on the same track before but just under a different name, I've listed it under new but that's just my opinion, What's yours? Daniels Renault Sport (talk) 15:33, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure? I can't say I've ever heard of that definition before. I vaguely remember it being used when Skaife won Bathurst, Gold Star and ATCC in the same year but I've never heard it consistently applied for any combination of events. Fixing the sortable table

I'm taking a break from the discussion (see Bretonbanquet's talk page), and so I'm not going to write anything on the 2014 season talk page. But I have developed a way to fix your new table for mobile users. It involves putting non-breaking spaces in at least the driver column (or maybe over the whole table). Results matrices

Hi Kytabu,

Technically, you are right: the bgcolor= wiki mark-up does still work. However, the mobile site has been updated recently, and that mark-up no longer works. I have been advised by VPT that the mark-up style="background-color:#XXXXXX" will work for both regular and mobile browsers. From what I have seen so far, this is correct.

However, I cannot get the white font on black background to work in both the results matrices and the legend templates. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 08:40, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

That's okay. I typically stay away from mark-up if I can avoid it, so if I do do it - and both those tables took me an hour, since I have to go line-by-line - it's not just for the hell of it.
