Information icon Hello, I'm NonsensicalSystem. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Maria Neira have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. N0nsensical.system(err0r?) 12:30, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "LancetCountdown", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. N0nsensical.system(err0r?) 12:30, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Hi - further to the above notice, I wanted to give you some more specific explanation about why I have blocked your account. First off, as you have already been advised, your username appears to be a violation of our username policy, in that it represents and organisation. In addition to this, I assume you are connected to the organisation, and so are probably editing in breach of our COI and PAID guidelines. If you wish to be unblocked, I would urge you to read through all the links that you have been given (also take a look at our guidelines on external links) before making an unblock request; you will need to request a new username, and demonstrate that you have understood how you must go about editing in an area where you have a conflict of interest. Thanks GirthSummit (blether) 13:38, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand I was blocked as the username created was an organisational name thus edits appeared as promotional. If unblocked I wish to contribute to ensuring that information on climate change and health on wikipedia is accurate and up to date. Climate change and health is a rapidly expanding field, and I want to help the Wiki community in ensuring the the information on Wikipedia is as accurate as possible.

Decline reason:

We already told you about WP:COI. You won't be unblocked to continue violating our conflict of interest guidelines. If you wish to write about other subject areas, let us know what those are. Yamla (talk) 15:30, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Yamla: Thank you for you reply. Sorry I am new to wikipedia and am still trying to understand the usertalk process and guidelines. I wish to write about other subject areas including bushfires (in Australia and around the world), the carbon emissions of the healthcare sector, climate change science communications, and antibiotic resistance. I will not be adding specific work related to the Lancet Countdown, but general information on the topic of climate change and health as I am aware of lots of other pieces of research as well as the science of my organization.LancetCountdown (talk) 15:29, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
