Wrong source

Hi I have just made an edit on Elizabeth Michael on her manslaughter conviction ,The source has mistaken her I guess because they are not from Tanzania where she is from ,I would like to report that source but I don't know how,I ask you to do so,I'm from Tanzania and I know that case is the curious case has ever happened in Tanzania, since Michael was only 17 and Kanumba was 28 you can see she was raped ,she didn't admit to have pushed him she was convicted because she accepted that she was the last person to be with him in a room before the death ,so many sources outside Tanzania have reported it wrong!. If you understand Swahili I can send some links that show she didn't admit to have pushed her.Thank You Candy78 (talk) 15:09, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

To add , they were only two in the room ,nobody else was there even the kanumba's brother testified that he don't know what happened in the room because they were only two ,he Said to the court the one with answers is God,Kanumba who is already died and Michael who is still alive,so and Michael didn't admit to have pushed her ,that reference is from wrong source Candy78 (talk) 15:13, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

You can see that source has sited that she won ZIFF best actress award by Foolish age which is not true she won best actress by woman of principles, you can concluded they just report and know nothing in deep You can see in here http://www.ziff.or.tz/2013/07/07/ziff-2013-the-awards/ a official website of the ZIFF awards ,they have specified that she won by woman of principles you can see in winners list Thank you Candy78 (talk) 15:17, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Sorry ...I mean she didn't admit to have pushed him Candy78 (talk) 15:18, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Hello. You say I can "see" that she was raped but, actually, not a single article I read in any publication says that. I do see the two sources that I cited. If other sources (in either English or Swahili) say "She did not admit during her testimony that she pushed him", then we have to change it to say that different sources differ on whether she admitted this. If it's only that other sources don't mention whether or not she admitted pushing him, then that doesn't mean she didn't, it only means that they didn't mention it.
If sources say different things, and the sources that say she admitted it are well known to be unreliable sources, then that needs to be a fuller discussion. But, otherwise, Wikipedia has no reason to doubt them, even if you personally don't believe them.
To be on the safe side, since you are at least the third person to have concerns about this, I've posted a summary of this situation at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Elizabeth Michael to see if we can get some outside opinions about this. Largoplazo (talk) 15:28, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

It's not a matter of believing them, they are lying that's the point,Because she was asked that question at the court if she pushed him..but she didn't admit.I wonder why are they reporting that she admitted while she didn't !. All sources have specificied that she didn't admit but maybe they are in Swahili language that why you don't want to accept ,those that are in English are not from Tanzania they just copy from each other and that they provide wrong information. I've given some examples that one of your references that say she admitted to push him said she won best actress from ZIFF for Foolish Age which is not true she won for Woman of principles, can't you see they have written just to get viewers but they don't exactly what she said at the court ??? Candy78 (talk) 04:47, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

I haven't said that I don't believe them but I've said they have reported wrong because they are not from Tanzania ,I know that case I'm Tanzanian. They just copy from each other in a wrong way.I guess we supposed to write what she has said and not what people especially wrong news said what she hasn't said at the court

Candy78 (talk) 05:52, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
You say "I guess we supposed to write what she has said": and how do you know what she has said? Were you in the courtroom? Have you personally read the complete written transcript of the trial? If you weren't in the courtroom, then it doesn't matter whether you're in or from Tanzania or Bolivia or Japan, your knowledge of what she said is based completely on what you've heard or read reported by others, compounded by what you choose to believe. (Even if you were at the trial, Wikipedia isn't for reporting personal observation, that's original research.) Largoplazo (talk) 11:58, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Ofcourse I was in the court!. As I told she is the star and many people wanted to know what happened ..so I was definitely there and no where she said that "I pushed him" and almost all Tanzanian media didn't report that she pushed him.why putting her words that she hasn't said or admitted t?? Candy78 (talk) 12:22, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

"Of course"? Why "of course"? Are you implying it should have been obvious to me that every Tanzanian was in the court that day?
There's a problem, though, even if you were there, which is the ban on original research. Even if you are in fact right, I don't know what the resolution is. Largoplazo (talk) 13:29, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Relax

Did you really just come to my talk page to post a rant because I restored a comment you removed without reason? (not just because you didn't state a reason, but because you literally didn't have a reason). You have no cause to identify that post as "garbage" (or "gibberish" 12 times). There is nothing wrong with asking the guy for some clarification. Perhaps you didn't notice it was his first post? (perhaps there's language barrier). Either way, spend some more time reading WP:BITE and less time posting raving nonsense on other users talk pages, just because you're all bent outta shape about being (rightfully) reverted. Hope you day gets better - theWOLFchild 00:01, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

I went to your page because you added gibberish to a talk page. That isn't appropriate behavior, let alone "rightful", even if it's restoring someone else's contribution and not your own original one. As for WP:BITE, you're telling me that instead of quietly removing it, I should have written an edit summary along the lines of "reverting gibberish" so that he could see it.
You truly are the first person I've ever seen here pursue something like that as though it were meant to be a constructive contribution, so, while I have no criticism for you for doing that, please don't talk to me like I'm out in left field on this.
I'm not seeing how a language barrier would lead someone who hadn't edited Wikipedia before all the way to one of the site's hidden corners like Template talk:Citation needed, only to post the heading "Instagram"—and then forget to write anything about Instagram, or about anything else. I find your interpretation of the situation highly unlikely even after you presented it, so of course I didn't imagine that to be the case when I came upon the user's contribution. You and I obviously have very different viewpoints. Largoplazo (talk) 00:20, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

thank you for your note, I proposed the article on wikipedia that contents the datas about my self, I provided data that can be verified and are 100% relevant, if its not wanted, I will encourage someone else, as the purpose is to provide your page with relevant datas.

If there is no need for such article, I advice it to delete it as soon as possible. ;) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Martin Pagerka (talkcontribs) 11:21, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

You shouldn't be encouraging anybody to write about you on Wikipedia. This is an encyclopedia, not a collection of vanity projects. If you meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and someone independently writes about you, that's fine. If you don't meet the notability guidelines, then there will be no article about you. Hello. Why do you think the translation is incorrect? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonus626 (talkcontribs) 23:22, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

@Bonus626: Hi. I'm a native speaker of English, and it reads as though it were translated by a speaker of Polish who isn't fully fluent in English. There are four or five mistakes in the first sentence alone. There are three in the first sentence of the Biography section. There are instances throughout of the sort of thing people often have trouble with in languages other than theirs: use of articles where a native speaker wouldn't use them and vice-versa; incorrect choice of prepositions; awkward phrasing and stilted word selection, as in "... who contributed to honoring ...", "He prepared an accommodation ...", "... the increasing anti-Semitic repressions ..." (a native speaker would write "increasing anti-Semitic repression"—singular, with no definite article); and so forth. In other words, the sort of mistakes I make when I speak or write in French or Spanish. Largoplazo (talk) 23:48, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fucah Technologies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. WP:TrU problem

Hello Largoplazo. I picked up your id from the talk page of TrU, in the hope you can help me to resolve a difficulty I encountered recently: the French wiki administrators are unaware of the TrU project, and I was thrashed and banned for a week because I took up the TrU offer, and used the TrU machine translation. The French wikipedia disallows appeal-of-deletion in but three cases, and those do not include TrU. So you can see where this leads: into a brick wall.

Are you able to be an ambassador to the French, or can you direct me to someone who can do so?

Ideally, I would like to see on the French appeal-of-deletion page a fourth bullet point: TrU. But I have little patience for explanation of system failures like this (and furthermore lost the address of the TrU interface, which by the way is slick - kudos).

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Gwadalion (talk) 13:11, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Oh, wow.
  • I have no idea what the "TrU interface" is. There's no application, nor interface for one, at Wikipedia:Translate us.
  • Wikipedia:Translate us merely provides the procedural steps for creating an article on another language's Wikipedia based on a translation of an article from this one. It doesn't remove any of the other Wikipedia's requirements for inclusion. Every language's Wikipedia has its own guidelines, criteria, and procedures.
  • Wikipedia:Translate us explicitly says not to use a machine translation, that is, "a tool like Google Translate" (which I just updated to be more explicit: "an automated translation tool like Google Translate"). That you did so, and that French Wikipedia rejects such translations outright, is evident from the deletion notice you received there.
  • Your addition at fr:Traduction automatique, where you brought a personal dispute into the body of an article, was pure vandalism, and a personal attack on top of it, so of course you got blocked.
  • Your block is temporary, so if you want to continue editing at French Wikipedia, just tough it out for the week. You could spend some time in the interim informing yourself about French Wikipedia's guidelines and procedures and resolving to conform to them in the future.
  • I have no familiarity with the guidelines and procedures of French Wikipedia, so I'm in no position to act as your "ambassador". But, because of your behavior, I'd also have no inclination to assume that role even if I were qualified. You aren't an innocent person in need of counsel and representation, you're a miscreant who was rightly blocked.
  • As for Luc Multigner, that he does research and leads a team of 14 people is not a qualification for inclusion on any Wikipedia, as far as I know. See fr:Wikipédia:Notoriété for an explanation of what qualifies a topic for inclusion on French Wikipedia.
  • You might want to look through the advice at Wikipedia:LISTEN or at fr:Wikipédia:RCM and fr:Wikipédia:ARPER.
Largoplazo (talk) 14:49, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. There *is* a wiki user interface for machine translation. It is in beta stage. At no stage did I intend to use machine translation. I was somehow selected by the algorithm because I had, in the same session, edited both in the English language namespace and in the French language namespace. Since I thought it was approved (after all, if it is unapproved it would not be associated with wiki) I used it. Only after my time was wasted, did I discover that machine translations are forbidden. That summarises my complaint.
You seem to have a naive misconception of the job description of an ambassador. At any rate, I make no claim to innocence. Similar circumstances will undoubtedly evoke the same problem, regardless of the level of innocence of the user. I pity you because you appear to be unable to think on an abstraction and as a result, to be narrow-minded.
At no time have I complained about the deletion of Luc Multigner. People like you seem to enjoy throwing red herrings at people like me so as to provoke a desired response. I guess it takes a miscreant to know a miscreant. Welcome to the club. Gwadalion (talk) 21:03, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Well, I don't know what you think ambassador means. The standard meaning is a person sent from one country or organization to represent its interest to another country or organization. Therefore, I understood that your goal was to solicit my assistance in representing your interests at French Wikipedia. If you have a different idea of what it means, then calling me "naive" because I don't know what alternative definition you have in mind, and otherwise insulting me, is way out of line. But that's just one example of how you seem to have thought I should know what you had in mind even though you didn't bother to explain it clearly. Another is your reference to the "TrU interface", as though any sentient being should know what "TrU" means in the first place, and then, given the location of WP:TrU, what you meant by "TrU interface" in the second place. And there is no "interface" at WP:TrU. So, whatever interface you're talking about, if you call it "TrU interface", but it isn't at TrU, then why in the world would I know what you meant? And why are you assuming I know something about a translation interface in beta testing somewhere on Wikipedia? And then, here you are, insulting me because I can't read your mind.
Basically, you came here thinking I had magical powers qualifying me to help you out in some way, despite your own failure to articulate what kind of help you were hoping for or what the situation was in which you found yourself (you left it completely up to me to follow you around on French Wikipedia even to find out what was going on, since you didn't bother to explain it), and then you abused me upon finding out that I don't.
It just occurred to me that I shouldn't be so surprised by your reaction. You are, after all, the person who saw fit to vent his grievances in the middle of a Wikipedia article.
Kindly don't contact me again. Il m'est fort évident que, comment ils l'ont dit, au vu des attaques personnelles ou insultes, vous n'êtes pas là pour contribuer sereinement. Largoplazo (talk) 21:36, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Fuck off and die, you fucking anti-Semite

I bet you're a dirty Muslim. Your entire people are a mythology. There is no such thing as a "Palestinian people." Just lies invented by Arabs like you.

I'm going to assume you're talking about the discussion over the article Jews. It's amazing how fanatical people can be that, just because they don't like something someone has said, think they know everything about him. For your information, I enjoyed my first night Passover seder last night very much. I am Jewish, I belong to a synagogue, and that doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between a religious scripture and historical evidence. Tell me, do you believe all the religious scriptures in the world? If you don't believe the Book of Mormon or the Bhagavad Gita, then what is it about the Tanakh that distinguishes it from those other scriptures, that makes it obvious that it must be true, other than your choice to believe it?
Well, I guess it's the same thing that makes you jump to the conclusion that I'm an anti-Semitic Muslim. Once you've decided to believe something, it magically becomes reality without any evidence whatsoever. Good luck living that way. But, please, leave Wikipedia to people who think rather than reacting mindlessly and hysterically. Largoplazo (talk) 13:20, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
Just FYI, this is a silly little boy who's been using the topic as an excuse to say bad words to people for a long time now. Thanks, I understand and don't disagree. It's just I couldn't resist the opportunity to rub his face in the irony behind his 100% incorrect conclusion. Largoplazo (talk) 14:08, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
Yep, makes sense, I totally get it, just wanted to jump in with that for future reference. (I'm mostly replying again so Kudpung realises how silly it was to revdelete these edit summaries while the section is still on the page.) --Closedmouth (talk) 17:19, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

Why you delete my wikipedia page?

I was wondering why deleting my wiki page? I described a very important person in Slovenian gaming scene? I dont know what's wrong. He is one of the best in the world (Top 0.5%)!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rookxc (talkcontribs) 16:57, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

Sorry, I know that's frustrating. But I saw in the article that Marcel Iskrač (you should identify what article you're talking about when you write about it elsewhere) had various ranks in different games or categories. I didn't notice that any of them was top 0.5% of all players of all video games in the entire world. Even if that were true, if there are 100 million gamers in the world, then 0.5% of them is 500,000 people. (The 100 million is a guess on my part, but I bet it isn't an overestimate.) If he's #487,362 in the world, does that warrant coverage in an encyclopedia?
Take a look at the general notability guidelines. I couldn't find any evidence that anybody online has found him significant enough to write about. Google returns 12 hits for "Marcel Iskrač", none of them independent, substantial coverage. Wikipedia mostly finds subjects worthy of inclusion only if reliable sources have found them worthy of coverage.
Also, this is English Wikipedia anyway. Articles in another language should go on the version of Wikipedia for that language. Largoplazo (talk) 18:09, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

The above page has been tagged again by another editor. This is just to remind you of WP:3RR, so as to be cautious of your rapid reverts protecting spam which was deleted at Chinese Wikipedia and transfered here. I prefer not use template for experienced users who know the rules and I don't revert people on second time save obvious vandalism, hence this message serve as the standard {{uw-3rr}} caution, your next revert will cross the line. –Ammarpad (talk) 05:08, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Well, you should be embarrassed for templating me for 3rr over something that wasn't a content dispute but over a pure technical error on your part. If it was spam, then why didn't you just tag it G11 instead of restoring the tag that didn't apply? Justifying A2 for this because it was spam is like insisting on an A7 tag for a spammy article about a building or a magazine. An "experienced user who know[s] the rules" shouldn't have to be told that. Largoplazo (talk) 09:49, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Asia Express (Romania)

Hi, your edit summary when you removed the prod at Asia Express (Romania) seems to demonstrate that you misunderstood the reason for prodding. I had tried to determine notability of the subject but, being unable to do so online, I was forced to turn to the article to see if its citations established notability. Since it had none, it was impossible to determine notability. Therefore, certainly in this case, the reason for prodding was quite valid. --AussieLegend () 23:27, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

I didn't "misunderstand". I didn't know because you didn't say. If you felt you had valid grounds for deletion, then why did you give a reason that, standing on its own, wasn't valid?
As for whether there was a credible claim of significance: in my estimation, though others may differ, identification as a reality show on one of a large country's top three television stations is such a claim. A priori I would think such a show would meet WP:GNG. I'm surprised to see so few Google Web hits for "Asia Express" "Antena 1"—but there are an awful lot for the Google News search "asia express" "antena 1" -site:a1.ro, even excluding the channel's own website. I haven't taken the time to assess the quality of these results, but from what I see in Google's excerpts they appear to have the form of substantial coverage. OK, sorry. The first Google hit was for the one in Pune, so I assumed that it was one organization in one place, and that was the one. I've moved it back. Thanks for letting me know. Largoplazo (talk) 16:43, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 27

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Panicker, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Madhava Panikkar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Occiatan language

In your edit summary of your recent edit to the Occiatan language you used the term "arbitrary names". What would a non-arbitrary name look like?ApolloCarmb (talk) 19:26, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Did you try looking up "arbitrary" in a dictionary? I'm assuming you don't know the meaning because otherwise you would know that it isn't an inherent characteristic and, therefore, that your question doesn't make sense. Largoplazo (talk) 19:50, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
If something exists then its safe to say a thing that is not that thing exists, assuming it is not an essential property of a thing.ApolloCarmb (talk) 19:57, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
Do you think being hungry is an inherent characteristic? If I said "I'm hungry", are you going to contest me by asking for an example of a non-hungry person, as though there's such a thing as a person who's inherently not hungry? Largoplazo (talk) 20:08, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
By the way, if you aren't trolling me, then I'm not trying to give you a hard time. Your question just made no sense. If your real question is about what I meant by "arbitrary names", I meant that, throughout Wikipedia, articles refer to places all over the world without interrupting themselves constantly to translate those names into other languages. There's no reason, in one article, to stop and tell us out of the blue what "Northern Catalonia" is in another language. Largoplazo (talk) 20:19, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
That's not how the word arbitrary is conventionally used.ApolloCarmb (talk) 20:57, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
You're mistaken. Largoplazo (talk) 21:30, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

The blog post which you claim was copied to make the Wikipedia page about MoltenVK was itself a copy from the Wikipedia page about the Vulkan API.

The comment in the history for the page notes the source.

The blog page says it was from March 2018. The text in question was added to Wikipedia in February 2018.

@Ajchapman: And you'd properly attributed it and everything! Sorry about that. The tag's gone.
But, in that case, are you planning to expand MoltenVK? Largoplazo (talk) 10:14, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
I have expanded that page. It is still short but a bit more than just a stub now.
ajchapman (talk) 11:55, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
Cool, thanks for letting me know. My follow-up question was going to be whether to just make the title a redirect, but with the additional information I guess it stands on its own. Largoplazo (talk) 12:23, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

The Labe Family

Your theory looks/sounds/has to be right. I have an image of this teenage boy making up stories about his family to tell his friends, and then editing Wikipedia to prove that his tales are true. Which would almost be funny if it wasn't a) disrupting the encyclopedia and b) sad, given that his mother is ill.

Glad to have crossed paths with you, though. I may have to put your guidance on notability for bands on my talk page. It's perfect. (Properly attributed to you, of course.) Cheers, Julie JSFarman (talk) 23:01, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

Diversity Certification

Hi. I am trying to get clarification on why the diversity certification page was removed. Should the list of certification programs be deleted? This is an important contribution. Many people do not know that diversity certification exists. The result is that little is known about how to identify talent for roles such as chief diversity officer. Little is known about the competencies or that training offers expertise that guards against both discrimination and creating cultural diversity echo chambers in organizations.

Please provide insights. The list of programs can be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diversityu (talkcontribs) 19:05, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello. The focus of the article, if I recall correctly, was on the importance or desirability of diversity certification and on directing readers to programs offering it. It wasn't written as a neutral point-of-view reference article. Wikipedia doesn't advise or advocate or have opinions on the merits of anything. Largoplazo (talk) 19:11, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

As a courtesy heads up, you tagged CAIS++ as a PFD, I had a look over it and it qualifies for speedy deletion under A11 - obviously invented by page author (the listed usernames match). Xevus11 (talk) 06:17, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
