Wikipedia Co-op[edit]

Hello Lauraejpress, I see you have asked at the Wikipedia Co-op for a mentor to help you with writing skills and I have been assigned as your Mentor. Welcome to the project.

I see that you have created the article Lingotek and that it has attracted the attention of a new page patroller who has tagged the article as having multiple issues. Looking at your contributions so far it seems to me you are not a complete novice because you seem to be familiar with wikilinking, making section headings and creating references. How can I help you? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:06, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is likely that the article Lingotek will be proposed for deletion, on the grounds that the company is not notable. To be notable it needs to have significant coverage in one or more reliable sources. This mention in the Globe Newswire might be such a source, - I am not familiar with technology companies in the US. You need to find other outside sources discussing the company or its products.

My other comment with regard to the article is that it is full of jargon such as "leveraging enterprise-grade translation tools" which sounds as if it is straight out of an advertising brochure. You need to express yourself in straightforward English and facts are better than flowery statements. How many languages can the company deal with, for example? You should not include the links to Multilingual API and Lingoport in the middle of the article as that is advertising.

I have added this page to my watchlist so please feel free to comment here. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:33, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia cannot use blog references and press releases. Theroadislong (talk) 21:08, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lingotek requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://thesiliconreview.com/magazines/lingoteks-translation-network-connects-and-delivers-your-content-to-global-audiences-through-the-best-technology-and-a-bigger-network--finally-networked-translation--lingotek/ and http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/Lingotek-Introduces-the-Translation-Industry-s-First-Technology-Solution-for-Automating-Linguistic-Quality-EvaluationNew-app-streamlines-translation-quality-management-with-automated-LQE-scoring-1011085975 and https://www.iqt.org/lingotek-announces-strategic-investment-with-in-q-tel-and-series-b-round-of-funding/ and https://www.gala-global.org/publications/62-free-online-translation-dictionaries-offered-lingotek-and-byu and https://lingotek.com/products. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
