Problems with upload of File:FrankieLee smoke b.jpg

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:59, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:FrankieLee smoke b.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FrankieLee smoke b.jpg, which you've attributed to AC DeLashmutt. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:05, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with...

Hello, I hope you can help - my account has been blocked and I'm not sure how to contact an administrator. I am trying to create a page for a musician who has just released his debut album in the UK and Europe. I am wanting to set up a Wikipedia page for him as he's gaining popularity but when people try to link to a Wiki page, an artist with the same name is linked instead. I am wanting to create a page for him to help distinguish between the two as he gains more public interest. My article was rejected a couple of times as I didn't have enough sources to prove notability but once I amended that, I got blocked for being suspected of using the page for promotional purposes. I see now that paraphrasing from references is prohibited and understand the changes I would need to make in the future. There is also an issue with my username which I didn't realise as I've had it for many years. Is it possible to change my username and unblock my account so that I may start writing the article again, adhering to the rules which I know understand?

Thanks!

(edit conflict) apparently your question has been answered in IRC. Primefac (talk) 16:56, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

[edit]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Requested username:

Request reason:

I see now that paraphrasing from references is prohibited and didn't realise this before. I am not trying to use the page as a promotional tool, simply to create a page for a musician I admire who has a growing popularity and to distinguish him from an artist of the same name who he is often inaccurately linked to via wikipedia. Having fully understood the guidelines now and having spoken to people on the help channel, I'd love to be unblocked and my username changed so I can start the article from scratch, adhering to the guidelines. Thanks!

Decline reason:

Lying by omission will not get you unblocked. MER-C 19:44, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It appears from this that you represent Frankie Lee's record company, so what you want to do is rather more than "create a page for a musician I admire". Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and cofirm that you have understood and accept them, in particular that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to disclose your interest in any edits where you have a COI. JohnCD (talk) 17:10, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Onel5969 TT me 13:10, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
