First Norfolk & Suffolk
Hello,
I updated your above page with newer photos and information only to have them removed by "Charlesdrakew" because I didn't quote a reliable source. Apprently the fact that I live in Norwich and run a very successful blog on behalf of the company isn't enough. I was wondering if you'd be able to do something about that and possibly block him from the page? My blog if you want to look at it is www.norwichbuspage.com

- Er, not "my page". I haven't edited on that page for nearly 10 years. I also have no administrative powers on Wikipedia, I am just an editor like yourself. I think your problems are that you aren't providing citations for your material. You are falling foul of Wikipedia's Reliable Sources policy WP:RS and in particular this bit:
Anyone can create a personal web page or publish their own book, and also claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason self-published media—whether books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, blogs, personal pages on social networking sites, Internet forum postings, or tweets—are largely not acceptable. This includes any website whose content is largely user-generated, including the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), CBDB.com, content farms, collaboratively created websites such as wikis, and so forth, with the exception of material on such sites that is labeled as originating from credentialed members of the sites' editorial staff, rather than users.
- So it's not really on to quote from your own blog: unless you can actually provide evidence that it is an official publication by the company or companies involved. I don't doubt your bona fides and it's a nice blog, but you need to provide sources for the information. These might be press releases by the bus company, news stories in respectable media or articles in Buses magazine, or something out of a published (but not self-published) book. Where are you getting your information? If it is in some form that can theoretically be checked by someone other than yourself, then put that in as your reference instead.

London County Councillors
Hi Loz, I have done a bit of research on some councillors elected in 1901. I have changed George Shrubshall to George Shrubsall; I have two reliable sources for this spelling - so London Wiki may need to be changed. I think that Lewen Sharp may be Lewin Sharp but I don't have hard evidence, so have not changed it. I also have one source describing John Fletcher Little as a Progressive in 1901 but have not changed this either. Graemp (talk) 17:40, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, glad to know someone else is interested in this sort of thing! Lewen Sharp (with an "e"), architect appears in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. He is in the electoral registers from 1896-1915 again with an "e". So if he is the same chap as the Wikipedia article, then WP has him misspelled. I am only a short way through the "R" entries in the alphabetical list of LCC members over at [1], I would probably have picked up on Shrubsall eventually. I have caught a few other errors and also found quite a few had WP articles by virtue of being MPs or judges or whatever. I have J F Little as an independent in 1901 but he seems to have run as a Progressive in 1898 and 1904 (neither time being elected), and there were no Progressive candidates in the Marylebone East Electoral District on the occasion he was successful. He seems to have been an independent when he sat on St Marylebone Borough Council but was also considered as a Liberal Party parliamentary candidate. The London Manual 1905 notes Little's defeat along with Walter Leaf in 1904 and they are both denoted as independents.Lozleader (talk) 19:40, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

March Madness 2017
G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

- Hello. Gosh that was ten years ago! I think it was actually licensed as "fair use". I have a copy of the E Ayrshire arms on my computer that I can look at but I doubt it would be permissible to use them on WP. I have only ever seen one rendition of the arms (presumably the painting on the patent). It appears on the Heraldry of the World site [4]. I'd say the best thing is to draw an image (not too complicated a set of armorial bearings) and as long as none of the pages it is on are pretending to officially represent the council it should be alright, but I'm no lawyer. 2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting
As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. User group for Military Historians
Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.
