The December 2010 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun!

Get going.

The December 2010 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun. Please get started, as the drive aims to wikify over 2,000 articles this month. We're going to need all the firepower we can get, so please remind your friends to join up as well. In case you didn't know, wikification is fairly simple: just add wiki markup, links, and similar formatting. Thanks for joining; we're looking forward to an exciting time this month!

Regards,

Ancient Apparition (talk · contribs), Mono (talk · contribs), Nolelover (talk · contribs), and Sumsum2010 (talk · contribs).

Header change

I have reverted back to the previous header, since there's no real need to display the archives and reviewing instructions to people that are there to request a review. Archive searching isn't used on a daily basis, and if the new system is implemented, those instructions would be added elsewhere, with a note to look in the tab for more detailed instructions. This helps keep the system easier to use and more new user friendly. Thanks. Netalarmtalk 23:35, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!

We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated.

Stats

GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive graphs
  • 58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive.
  • Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%.
  • 49 awards will go out to 33 of 48 participants. Check out the complete list of barnstar winners here.

Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering these barnstars within the next couple of weeks.

Our next drive is scheduled for January 2011. In the meantime, please consider helping out at the Wikification drive or any of the other places where help with backlogs is needed.

Thank you for participating in the last 2010 backlog elimination drive! We look forward to seeing you in January!

re: admin coaching

Hi - thanks for the message. I reviewed your contributions, including your deleted contributions, and I analyzed them like I do for an actual RfA. I'm sorry, but I don't think you're ready to be an admin yet, and I don't believe you'd be ready by the end of the coaching period.

The majority of your contributions are in the user talk space, and that's fine if you've got lots of article work too, but you don't yet. Most of your article edits are minor, adding tags and minor copyedits. You need to write - you have to be able to answer question #2 at the RfA by pointing to some specific, solid work you've done for the article space.

Don't take this personally, because you seem like a terrific young guy! You're doing great work with the things you are doing, so don't stop that - add to it, by spending some time researching topics in which you're interested and adding those citations to Wikipedia entries about those subjects. You have to be able to recognize great work by others and the only way you get that experience is to do great work yourself.

In three or four months, after expanding several articles and contributing lots of content, I'd be happy to reconsider. Sorry again, and good luck! :-) KrakatoaKatie 05:52, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

/* Christmas mottos and a note to self to spell determined correctly next time when acting like a bot */

The motto idea for those between 25th December and mid January needs consensus dtermined badly on which version should be used for which day or even whether the whole idea should be scrapped or postponed. Speedy deletion declined: Forest Mall

Hello Ancient Apparition, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Forest Mall, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 06:15, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's a question for you; I've had a go at answering but you may have a better view. Regards, BencherliteTalk 08:10, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
