Peer review for Josiah Henson wikipedia article. This article’s lead is good. You get the gist of the article in a quick and concise manner. The few sentences that were added were relevant to the topic. I would suggest adding content that explains why Josiah Henson is believed to be the inspiration for Harriet Stowe’s novel. “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” gets talked about without clarifying to the reader how the two topics are connected. All the content looks neutral. The tone is informative, with no hints of persuasion. The sources cited are reliable and have working links. There is one place where it says, “citation needed,” but I am sure that is a quick fix. There is not a lot to go on regarding “added content,” but the information already available is well organized. I would suggest expanding on the “Dawn settlement,” if there are any sources available. This seems like a too important contribution of Josiah Henson’s to go into such little detail about it. His family life, work as a minister and abolitionist are also topics you could expand upon. No images have been added but the preexisting ones do enhance the article. I hope my suggestions help.Ppetriy (talk) 05:16, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review[edit]

The facts you add provide a lot of context to perhaps why things happened without drawing any conclusions for the reader. You could add a section describing the similarities between Stowe’s Uncle Tom and Henson himself since there seems to be a connection. You could also elaborate on why Stowe chose to base the character off Henson in the first place. You could also bring in excerpts from the books he published and compare how they changed throughout the different periods they were published. Sithcj (talk) 18:05, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review[edit]

This is really great. The sections are really helpful and make the article organized. I would maybe consider adding the information in the “Miscellaneous” section to the “Later Life.” I know those things happened after his life but you can probably get away with quickly mentioning it in the last few sentences. Moving on, the article remains neutral; I don’t see any adjectives that are too telling.

I think that the “Slavery Policy in Canada” section could be placed before “Early Life” because it gives reader knowledge that it is good to know before reading about his early life.

Lastly, the article links are working, so, that’s good. They’re also pretty up to date; the oldest seems to be from 2008 and that should not be a problem. Overall, really good job; I enjoyed reading it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GabriellaFernandez0809 (talkcontribs) 04:14, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
