How references work[edit]

I see you are strugling with citations. Here is some more info:

Simple references[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref.

Named references[edit]

Chzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook">
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.--Forty twoThanks for all the fish! 20:50, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page and {{helpme}}[edit]

Hi! I noticed that you left a {{helpme}} tag on my talk page. If you are looking for some help, you may use the {{helpme}} template on your own talk page and write your question below it. Somebody would answer to your query soon. You may leave a note on other editors' talk pages (including mine), but that may take longer to get answered since the other editor may not be logged in. It is not usual to use the {{helpme}} template on other users' talk page. Also dont forget to sign your talk page messages using ~~~~. This would let others know that you had left the comment.--Forty twoThanks for all the fish! 14:10, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, per the above, Magali - please use helpme here, not elsewhere, otherwise stupid people like me think that the other person is asking for help :-)
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello. Chzz  ►  14:52, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your article submission Operation Burnt Frost[edit]

Hello Magali78. It has been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled Operation Burnt Frost.

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note, however, that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Operation Burnt Frost}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 23:16, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
