Hello. Would you care to review or comment at my nomination of House of Music for featured status? The previous nomination did not gather enough commentary, so anything at all would be appreciated. Dan56 (talk) 23:11, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Me Estoy Enamorando (album)

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Me Estoy Enamorando (album) has been completed.

I think the "look" of the article would be improved if Gloria Estefan's picture was reduced in size so that there is not so much white space in that section. Just a thought. Unfortunately I don't know how to do this.

I have archived one URL at https://archive.org/web/ to show you the syntax. You might want to any un-archived URLs as time allows.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 16:53, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

@Twofingered Typist: I will take a look at it and see what I can do. As always, thank you for taking your time to copyedit an article I've worked on. Erick (talk) 22:01, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Me Estoy Enamorando (album)

On 18 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Me Estoy Enamorando (album), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that all four singles from Alejandro Fernández's album Me Estoy Enamorando reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Me Estoy Enamorando (album). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Me Estoy Enamorando (album)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK nom for the WikiCup

I have disallowed your nomination for DYK credit for Me Estoy Enamorando (album) as you did not work on the article in 2017. Please remember that all articles submitted for the Cup must have had substantive work done on them in 2017.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:48, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

@Sturmvogel 66: But I did not make substantive work done on the article last year. It was nothing more than just a clean up of tables. The actual work with the prose and everything else did not actually start until this year began. Take a look at my edit history again. If that is still disallowed, then I accept full responsibility. Erick (talk) 01:04, 19 February 2017 (UTC)
You are correct; for some reason the history linked through the DYK nomination doesn't go past 2016. Perhaps that's related to the change in name, I don't know. I'll restore it to your submissions page. My apologies.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 04:00, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Image added to Lo Nuestro Awards

Hi Magiciandude, I was just adding a new commons cat and attaching the first photos I've located for any Lo Nuestro Awards shows. Although I feel it might be acceptable to have a photo from 2007's of Jennifer and Marc, on the main page, I acquiesce. When I have more time, I will add it with an info-box to 2007, as it is missing that, as well. Thanks!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 19:17, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

@Bonnielou2013: That's fine. I look at the other music awards and I don't usually see a image of an artist from a random year. Erick (talk) 19:47, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Magiciandude, I see you also work on getting articles to GA status. I would be pleased if you might take a look for any needed repairs at CNCO. It is my only Latin music article. I got involved after adding some photos for La Banda (TV series), and the editor who started a draft of their page never finished it. They will be at the Lo Nuestro awards show tomorrow night, but I don't think I can make it. Some more photos for the show would be nice.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 19:55, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Sure. Just to give you a heads up though. I'm not well-versed on them (I don't pay attention today's new popular Latin artists anymore). I know they had a album that reached #1 on the Latin charts (can't remember if it was the overall or Latin pop albums) and I believe they received a US certification just recently. Erick (talk) 20:02, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Your knowledge is probably heads above mine, anyway! Other editors added most of the Discography sections, I'm not so good with that, especially the charts they added from South America, et al. Thank you.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 20:08, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

March 2017 WikiCup newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, last year's winner, led the field with two featured articles on birds and a total score of 674.
  • European Union Iry-Hor, a WikiCup newcomer, came next with a featured article, a good article and a tally of 282 bonus points for a score of 517. All these points came from the article Nyuserre Ini, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh,
  • Japan 1989, another WikiCup newcomer, was in joint third place at 240. 1989 has claimed points for two featured lists and one good article relating to anime and comedy series, all of which were awarded bonus points.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 shared third place with five good articles and thirteen good article reviews, mostly on naval vessels. He is also new to the competition.

The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.

So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Los Mismos Quiero Agrdecer and 20 Aniversario

Hello Erick I am writing to seek advice. Two article for Los Mismos mentioned above have been tagged though I have put sources like amazon, ITunes and at times allmusic. Users need to see the charts these albums were done on independent labels and Los Mismos have lack of promotion. my question is how do I save articles when these thing happen due to not charting or unable to find the charts if they are some how available. Thanks.Sc30002001 (talk) 15:38, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

@Sc30002001: All articles about an album need to establish some sort of nobility (see WP:NALBUMS). Whether it's ranking a music chart, reviews by music journalists, or accolades, they need one of those to keep it from being deleted or redirect. If you say there the album received little promotion and didn't rank on a music chart, chances are it's not notable enough to warrant to its own article. Remember, just because it's an album by a notable group does not mean the album itself is automatically notable (see WP:INHERENT). I agree with Onel5969's decision to redirect it. Erick (talk) 15:43, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Reason I say lack of promotion is because Skalona Records and Discos America are independent labels that nobody's heard of and most times people are not sure what Los Mismos are doing I also stated that the charts or nobility could be there some where but not sure if it can be found thanks sc30002001 47.202.19.158 (talk) 22:13, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

Changes to the article Mario Domm

Soledad Esperanza (talk) 17:15, 19 May 2017 (UTC) Hello, you have just reversed the changes I made to the article by Mario Domm arguing that delete information arbitrarily. Actually, I did not. The changes I made were because in the input the information was inaccurate, and although I had references, they did not lead to any accurate location, even some links no longer exist. I ask you to tell me what my mistake was, because I actually seem to be doing things right with the Mario Domm entry. I ask you to recapacites the reversion of my changes, and return them as I leave them

My mistake

Okay, it was my mistake. I want to correct what I did wrong, so I am being careful about the changes I make and what you point out to me. If I correct what I did wrong, will you stop reversing my changes? I do not want to have problems, just do a good job. I do not want to fight with you either — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soledad Esperanza (talkcontribs) 17:30, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

_________

I already downloaded the images, although I have the rights. My references are reliable, but in the input that is currently seen there are unreliable references, such as reference 1, 4, 5, 10 and more _________

No, I did not take the pictures myself. But the photographer gave me an assignment of rights and I have the documents — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soledad Esperanza (talkcontribs) 18:38, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi! I really hate bothering on you, but would it be possible for you to review "Get Back (ASAP)". It is a very short article and it is the last one in her album topic and her discography overall to get to GA. Best regards, Cartoon network freak (talk) 03:59, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

That's my first Spanish single article so I'd appreciate it if you could review it. Thanks. Hayman30 (talk) 15:01, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

@Hayman30: Sure no problem buddy, I'd be glad to help! Are you a fan of Romeo Santos too? Erick (talk) 15:02, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
@Magiciandude: Not really, but this one sounds really good. I generally listen to mainstream pop and EDM songs. Hayman30 (talk) 15:04, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
@Hayman30: Oh okay, that's fair enough. I was hoping to create the article for "Heroe Favorito" as well but I haven't had the time to do so. I think the article for Imitadora covers pretty much all everything so I all did was the basic tweaks and that's it. Erick (talk) 15:07, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
@Magiciandude: Oh well Imitadora is missing the background. I was about to create the page for Héroe Favorito as I've read that it performed pretty well in charts and it has significant coverage, but it's midnight here so I guess I'll get it done in a few days. Hayman30 (talk) 15:39, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
Oh why am I pinging you lol it's your talk page, anyway take a look at Héroe Favorito if you're free, thanks. Hayman30 (talk) 09:09, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Those edits I did on El Camino del Alma are true. Morelia is on the CD and it did had an alternative track list and the instrumental version of Azul Gris was omitted from the LP and Cassette releases.

@Mrfluffypuff13: I reverted your edits because you did not provide a reliable source to back those statements up. Anytime you add content in Wikipedia, you have to back it up with a reliable source as WP:V. You've been told this multiple times on your talk page. Is there something about adding sources that you do not understand? Erick (talk) 12:32, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Marco Antonio Solis Lo Nuestro awards

Dear Erick I was wondering if you can add Lo Nuestro Award winning for Marco Antonio Solis in 2004. He won best male artist and album of the year with Tu Amor o Tu Desprecio I tried to add it countless times but the table for 2014 never looked right. and just to put this on here Marco Antonio Solis was never called Sosa I don't know why this was added. I don't mind it as for right now I'm just asking for the lo Nuestro awards for 2004 to be added. Thank you. --47.202.18.229 (talk) 03:55, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Years in Latin music

@Brankestein:, @DivaKnockouts:, @Victor Lopes:, @AJona1992:, @Fundude99:, @Jaespinoza: Hey guys. So as you may know, I've been creating the years in Latin music and just finished 2005. So I have the first half of the 2000s in Latin music and only need to create 2006-09 years in Latin music. If you guys want, you can go ahead and create those years and add whatever albums I've missed on the created Latin music. Just thought I'd ask for help since so there's so many Latin albums out there and events that I might've missed. So basically, I'm just asking you to add whatever Latin albums you want to include in the lists of years of Latin music. Thanks! Erick (talk) 17:39, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Update (Yandel album)

Hey! I was wondering if Instagram posts are okay as references. I have been editing Update (Yandel album) and I want to add that the album's recording sessions began on January 12, 2017, according to this post. Brankestein (talk) 21:53, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

@Brankestein: Depends. If it's from the official account of the artist or the record label or it's from a reliable third party source, it should be okay. Erick (talk) 00:50, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
The image was posted by Yandel's official account (it is also a verified account). Brankestein (talk) 00:52, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
@Brankestein: Then yeah, it should be fine. BTW, how is 2009 in Latin music? Need any help on that? Erick (talk) 00:53, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
Well... There are too many albums to add :P Any help would be appreciated. Brankestein (talk) 01:03, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
@Brankestein:, Yeah the Latin music universe is so expansive @_@. Whenever you're in middle of editing any of the years, add {{in use}} so that I and other users will know not to edit to avoid edit conflicts. I guess I'll start with the most popular Latin albums of 2009. Erick (talk) 01:15, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Problem with a user

Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I have a problem with an IP user on Update (Yandel album). There is a song titled "Explícale" that was released as a promotional song alongside a music video, but it is not available for purchase on digital stores such as Apple Music/iTunes, and it does not have even an official cover art in Spotify. There is an IP user that has undone two of my edits, claiming that the song was released as a single, citing a Billboard article. According to Single (music), a single is "a song that is released separately from an album". The track "Explícale" was not released separately from the album Update, at least not yet. I want to you know what do you think about this and if you could intermediate to solve this "problem" if you want to. Brankestein (talk) 16:46, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) According to Billboard it is a single, it reads plainly throughout the article in which editor Suzette Fernandez says "Yandel Joins Latin Trap Movement With New Bad Bunny-Featuring Single 'Explícale'". A single does not need to be explicitly available for consumption on digital platforms in order for it to be considered a single, there are numerous instances where a single may be available through Tidal but not available for download and streaming at other outlets and vice versa. – jona 20:05, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

National-Report Colombia

Hi Erick, been looking at your "Years in Latin Music" articles... very impressive, looks like a lot of work! If I come across anything, I'll try and remember to add it.

Just wanted to tell you that I sent an e-mail to National-Report a couple of months ago, asking whether they had any plans to provide an archive of their Colombian charts since 2009, seeing as it's impossible for us to provide a citation for any previous chart position at the moment... I bet you can guess whether I got an answer or not... Richard3120 (talk) 04:36, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

@Richard3120: Yeah, their silence is deafening. And thanks for the comment about the years in Latin music! :) Release dates for several albums were hard to find especially like Latin Grammy Award for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album. Would you happen to know of any sites that are good for finding albums released only in Colombia? And also, do you have time to a peer review for an article? I've requested several months and got no feedback yet. Erick (talk) 18:26, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
I don't know why it would be so difficult for them, it's only eight years – it's not like the US or UK who have more than half a century of charts to archive, and they still managed to do it... For example, the article for "Cuatro Babys" lists a Colombian peak position of no. 21, but I've no idea how we could verify that (I find it hard to believe a song that generated so much controversy in this country and by its biggest reggaeton star at the moment failed to make the top 20).
Reliable sources for anything to do with music in Colombia are hard to come by – no archive of the charts, and no website for the certifying body either, to be able to check gold and platinum disc awards, so it's very frustrating. The only real music magazine here is Shock, but I don't think release dates are high on their agenda of things to report. Unless it gets mentioned in a newspaper article, e.g. an interview with an artist promoting their new record, I can't think where else you could find the information.
I was away from Wikipedia for seven months, so I'm still trying to catch up on the backlog of admin tasks for WikiProject Colombia, and also there are a couple of (non-Latin) album articles I'm writing. But yeah, I think I could have a look at your article sometime – which one is it? Richard3120 (talk) 19:45, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
@Richard3120: It's Segundo Romance. I promoted to GA back in 2014, but I really want it to get promoted to FA because I love that album and want to know if it has a chance. Thanks Richard, I really appreciate it! Erick (talk) 19:53, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Canta Los Clásicos Del Vallenato

Hi Erick, hope you weren't too badly affected by Irma. Just to let you know, an early Carlos Vives album, Canta Los Clasicos Del Vallenato, has been PROD'ded for speedy deletion... I can see why it's been put up for deletion because there's nothing in the way of reliable sources, but obviously the artist is very notable, and as effectively the soundtrack for his most famous acting role, you'd think there would be sources in Spanish regarding this album. Richard3120 (talk) 22:51, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

@Richard3120: Yeah, I lost power for a week, not fun at all. =\ Anyways, I assumed the album was one of his pre-Clasicos de la Provincia era, but it's just greatest hits album. All I can say is Google Books to see if there's anything about it (especially from Billboard magazines). Otherwise, it could just simply be redirected to his discography article. On a somewhat-related note, the Latin Grammys will announce its nominations tomorrow so keep an eye out on the Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album category. Erick (talk) 01:36, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, it's basically a compilation of the best bits of the two albums Escalona: Un Canto de la Vida and Escalona: Vol. 2, which are songs performed by Vives when he was playing the part of Rafael Escalona in his telenovela days. The first of those two albums has already been redirected, but to Escalona's article rather than Vives' discography, which seems an incorrect redirect to me, but never mind. I just thought I'd mention the deletion nomination, but I can't see that it's any great loss, and I can't find any online sources to save it anyway. Richard3120 (talk) 02:13, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thankyou for your participation in the challenge series or/and contests. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:25, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi there! In my GAN review for your Vivo article, you said that you were free to review a Latin GAN of mine in the future. I don't want this to sound cheesy, but would you've got time to look over "Un Momento"? Best of regards, Cartoon network freak (talk) 14:52, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

@Cartoon network freak: I'll take a look tomorrow as I have work today. Erick (talk) 15:06, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Hey! Sorry to bother you, but I have some kind of "problem" with a list I created recently: List of Latin songs on the Billboard Hot 100. See, since October 2012 Billboard only considers Latin music "as any release with 51% or more of its content recorded in Spanish," but the Portuguese-language song "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" remained on the Latin Digital Songs chart until August 2014 despite the change of methodology. According to my research, only two Portuguese-language songs have entered the Hot 100 ("Lambada" in 1990 and "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" in 2012). I was wondering what to do with those songs. Should I maintain them on the table or maybe it would be better to remove them in order to remain consistent with Billboard's statement about Latin music? It's difficult to decide because even the Latin Grammy Awards include Portuguese-language releases. Brankestein (talk) 17:47, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

@Brankestein: To be honest, I'm not even sure if it really warrants its own article. Mainly due to the fact that I'm not sure if there's enough third-party articles about it. I agree that Portuguese-language songs should be included, but Billboard hasn't count them October 2012... It's messed up I know. BTW, have you seen my updated List of best-selling Latin albums in the United States? Billboard just published it recently. I hope I can finally get it FL after so many years. Erick (talk) 19:18, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
I thought it would be interesting to have a list of Latin songs on the Hot 100. Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you mean about "third-party articles"? As to your list, finally Billboard reveals all those sales! I hope you get that FL. Brankestein (talk) 20:46, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
@Brankestein: Like if you could find articles from sources other than Billboard that talks about Latin songs appearing on the Hot 100. Any news site would be fine. Don't worry about it if you can't. And thanks, I'm glad Billboard finally released those sales! Erick (talk) 21:23, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

I found some articles about foreign songs on the Hot 100 and other centered on Latin songs.

Is this okay? Brankestein (talk) 00:33, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Yes, there's are perfectly acceptable. In fact you could even throw in commentary from the authors of those articles into the article you made. Erick (talk) 01:46, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! Could you give me a commentary example from any of those authors? I don't know how to connect them to the article. Brankestein (talk) 04:12, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you but I think the list is somewhat incorrect. I was checking the individual sales figure and both 'Enrique Iglesias' and "vivir' by Enrique iglesias has sold over a million copies and should be there. I edited it but I think you reverted it. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ccdes0001 (talkcontribs)

@Ccdes0001: Based on what? The RIAA certifications? The certs are based on amounts shipped to retailers, not actual sales. Nielsen SoundScan does the actual sales. In addition, the list comes from this article from Billboard. If you think it's wrong, go take it up with them. Wikipedia is not a place for original research, everything must be backed up by a reliable source. In this case, sales should be backed by Nielsen SoundScan. Lo Que Te Mereces Tour

Hi Erick, just wanted to point out that this article is up for deletion – I have no particular views and not enough information to hand to be able to comment on the AfD, but perhaps you know more and have more access to possible sources? Richard3120 (talk) 18:31, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

@Richard3120: I actually don't know about the artist to be honest. I am not familiar with María José. Most of my taste in Latin music comes from baladas and salsa/tropical from the 80's to mid 00's. BTW, would you be okay with commenting on my Segundo Romance FAC? It's got two supports, but it hasn't gotten another comment for awhile. Erick (talk) 18:36, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
I don't know her either, that's why I didn't feel like I was in a position to comment on whether the tour was notable or not. Yeah, sure, I'll have a look at it now. Richard3120 (talk) 18:38, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! I also have an open FLC for List of best-selling Latin albums in the United States and Shakira's albums on the list (of course ). After that list, I'll be working on best-performing Latin songs in the US. I'd like to think that these lists along with the other lists I've promoted FL will be educational for the newer generations Erick (talk) 18:42, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

I've left my comments on Segundo Romance. Speaking of Shakira, you are presumably aware that another editor has put "No (Shakira song)" up for GA? Richard3120 (talk) 14:19, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Accolades received by "Despacito"

Hi! I was wondering if there sould be a standalone list of accolades received by the song "Despacito" because of the lenght of the table on the single's article (although the table is collapsed). Are there lists of awards and nominations dedicated to only one song or an album? I'm not talking about doing it now because it has only 28 nominations, but various music awards are going to be held during 2018 (Billboard Music Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, Lo Nuestro Awards, etc) and the amount of nominations is going to be notoriously increased. What do you think?

@Brankestein: I think that's reasonable, but I think you should bring it up on the Despacito talk page and ask the editors who are active on the article. Use {{split}} on the accolades section so that editors know of an ongoing discussion. Erick (talk) 03:32, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Magiciandude. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
