Imbros[edit]

Hi Mustafa. I am not sure if i can find sources about a mayor's list, but i guess there must be a site in turkish (even if there is, i am afraid i cannot read it). I think that it is better to add famous people in the list, so, a local Greek painter or people involved in strictly local culture are not so notable for wikipedia (and something that the readers are probably not interested in). as for Bartholomew, i placed him first, since he is the most notable Imvriot today (if not of all times). i would also like to thank u for your contributions in this article... i have indeed offered a lot! i am looking forward to see old photos of Imvros... It would be very interesting:). Regards Hectorian 13:11, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, köy means "village", doesn't it? :-) Thanks for your work on that page. However, right now, it says, "Çınarlı is the main town on Imbros". Shouldn't it also be mentioned that the town is also called "Gökçeada town"? (I'm not sure how you say it in Turkish). Khoikhoi 05:40, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note to say thanks for your support on my recent RfA. It became clear very quickly that my editing background was going to detrimental to my nomination. Having seen other recent RfA's fail once one or two admins opposed and others just piled on the vote, I decided it would save the ignominy if I withdrew my nomination. I don't intend to change the work I do as it's what I enjoy, so it'll be unlikely I'll apply again. Anyway thanks again for taking the time to review my nomination and giving your support. Regards Khukri(talk . contribs) 11:46, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thank you for your support with my RfA. My nomination succeeded. I appreciate your support. Thanks again! =) -- Gogo Dodo 22:54, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blanket removals[edit]

I've reverted your removal of all the instances of a template. If the template is "highly disputable", dispute it on the template's talk page. It's a bad idea to make mass edits like this without it being the result of consensus. Thanks. yandman 09:05, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Turkey regions[edit]

Thanks for the help on the map correction for the Regions of Turkey... my mapping program can't handle some of the special characters like the İ and ğ, for some reason. Rarelibra 20:44, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: MKA[edit]

Hi, I don't see what you want me to do. Fad (ix) 18:14, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you asked me to take a look at the Ataturk page, but I don't know of what specific issue you want me to take a look, do you mean the new controversy about the name of the article? I personally don't know, I'd say looking over what Britannica or other encyclopedia's name their articles could be a good indication. Fad (ix) 03:45, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you assist?[edit]

Would you be able to assist me in moving the Provinces of Mongolia page to Aymguud of Mongolia? The provinces interpretation is incorrect (and I think taken from Statoids, which is not always correct), and there is an official english wiki entry for the subnational entity of aymag. Can you help? Thanks! Rarelibra 21:28, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for voting[edit]

File:In-the-dark.jpg

Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 20:03, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

warning[edit]

I have never even been warned about 3RR but you have been warned twice or some times about 3RR so please do "NOT" leave a message on my talk page about 3RR I am aware of it. Yilmaz Erdogan is ethnicaly Kurdish. All thew rest biographical articles state the persons ethnicity first thus I have the right to change this with a good source. Thanks. Reverts N' Edits[edit]

Huh? I'm sorry if you saw it as prejudistic...that wasn't my intention at all. I guess I'll be more careful in the future.

About Yılmaz Güney: have you ever seen Yol? The film even shows a scene where Kurds in a village fight with the Turkish Army. Güney also identifies as a Kurd. [1], and he was even jailed at one point for his revolutionary creations. An interviewer once asked him why he had produced no films in Kurdish. He said, "why he had produced no films in Kurdish".

Regarding the rivers, I'll check that out later—I have to sleep now. Khoikhoi 07:03, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I am glad that most people in Turkey appreciate their works. You know, my friend's mother actually was in Umut. Anyways, Güney was a Kurd, and in Yol especially, he portrayed the lives of the Kurds in Turkey. Why do you think it's inappropriate to say he was a "Kurdish-Turkish" film director? Khoikhoi 08:41, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

I am aware of that thanks Akalp. --A.Garnet 17:15, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Look, Mustafa, I am not assuming bad intent. I just don't like unpleasant messages on my talkpage. Notice has been served, I'm fully aware of the 3RR and will not revert again (there is no need to yet). If you need to report me at some point in the future, just cite this. Thanks for letting me know about it, keeping the message there serves no useful purpose now. Saygilar. //Dirak 17:30, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TRNC and the attempts to discredit the truth about it[edit]

Its good to see that you have sought to make clear the facts about the TRNC.I have been doing so myself for some time and have had to fend off attempts by pro G/C elements who try to vandalize the TRNC pages (as well as my own personal page). The TRNC has been unfairly isolated for too long and I hope that it can soon join the family of nations.Expatkiwi 07:17 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Project tags[edit]

Hi, I've removed that wikiproject tag from Category talk:Titular Sees in Africa - can't see how it's relevant there, must have been a misunderstanding I suppose. That category is really just about Africa and about the Catholic Church. BTW, sorry for the broken edit summary, I accidentally hit Return before I had typed the summary. Fut.Perf. 14:41, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm not getting it. A place like Djerba may have some relevance for Ottoman history, for sure, but what the heck has that to do with the fact that there is a Catholic bishop who calls himself Bishop of Djerba without ever working there? That's what a "titular see" is, and that's all this category is about. - In any case, I think people are overdoing it with the wikiproject tags anyway these days. There are far too many of them, and it reduces their value if they are placed indiscriminately and in higher number than the manpower of the wikiprojects actually can actually handle. Fut.Perf. 15:36, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and something else, I'm not at all certain you did well messing around with those "Fauna" categories. I don't know what you have against "Asia Minor", it's what the area is called in English; alternative is "Anatolia". "Anadolu" is never used in English, please stop changing things to "Anadolu". Please wait making further changes to categories until we've sorted this out. Fut.Perf. 15:42, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just saw your posting to the deletion review. I think it's somehow gone into the wrong section, wait till I tidy it up. I must apologise I somehow hadn't seen your earlier post on my talkpage before I deleted the page. Nevertheless, I think the deletion was proper, I'll explain why in a minute. Selam[edit]

I am sorry I couldn't get involved earlier. I put a post at Alex's page. I will also try to take a look at the Yilmaz articles some time today. Unfortunately I wasn't able to follow the discussion to closely. As for the rivers, haklisin, aslinda Wikipedia'nin neresinden tutacagimiz hiç de belli degil, oraya elini atiyorsun baska bir yerden birsey çikiyor. Buyuk Menderes'in makalesinin yerini Meander'dan iki hafta once daha yeni degistirdim. Bir iki tane daha nehrin adi yanlisti. Template'lar guzel olmus, ben de ilgilenmeye çalisacagim.

As for sleeping :)) Turkiye makalesini bir an once temizleyip Featured Article'a getirmeye çalisiyorum, simdilik onceligi ona verdim. Her neyse kolay gelsin, Alex'in sayfasinda olayi takip etmeye çalisacagim.. Baristarim 19:07, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I love seeing those apostrophes in written turkish (Featured Article'a, Alex'in). If all other inflected or agglutinative languages (german, finnish, russian etc) did that they would be much easier to understand. //Dirak 19:46, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Turkey[edit]

Mustafa - I'd love to help. I have a geographic database with a list of 3 million+ elements from around the world - including geographical elements like rivers and mountains. I will pull out the list and filter it down to Turkish rivers and mountains and we can start combing through it. When we have it as a clean list, I can easily make locator maps for them (and they will have a latitude and longitude for location purposes). Rarelibra 22:07, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baristarim on Turkey[edit]

He is trying to make turkey look like a country of stone age illiterates and worst of all attribute this to Kurds in a very racist way. I have tried to revert his very poor additions, but he is very stubborn about it. Help save the image of Turkey, turks and kurds and stop this wacko

Watch for civility. That wacko spent tens of hours cleaning up that article and finding sources. I found 60 out of 70 sources cited in the article. Literacy figures are mentioned in every single country article, and they will stay. All that information is sourced. Do not touch them. Baristarim 23:50, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will see what I can do with Kizilirmak and Yesilirmak. I have put a post to Kizilirmak talk page and will try to contact Khoikhoi to see what he thinks.. Cheers! Baristarim 00:32, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

I would like to say that it was never my intention to insult you by writing "Allah Belanizi Versin" in the edit summary as I wasn't even aware of the user who edited the article before me. I feel that there is some suppression towards Kurdish articles, particularly, in the art field within the Turkish Kurdistan. Please let's work together for the better Wikipedia only then we could learn more from each other. Ozgur Gerilla 03:11, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting[edit]

I ran into another example of where you may be able to help me, my friend. There is an incorrect naming of the article for Lake Scutari. I have initiated a move request, so if you want to participate, go HERE and check it out. The name is supposed to be "Lake Skadar". Check out the article I referenced.

Sizden ricam [6] Users interested in forming an editing community başlığı altına isminizi eklemeniz ve (support) destek oyunuzu burada tekrar kullanmanız.

--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 12:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stalking[edit]

Mustafa, I got complaints that you stalk User:Tajik. Particularly this edit seems to be strange. I cannot see what exactly info you have reverted back and why you are so interested in the article of this Afghan leader (there is nothing in wrong in such an interest of course). Mustafa, if for some reason you decided to take part in edit warrings just because Tajik in involved there, please stop. Religion in Turkey? It was somehow chosen to be in the main page for today as "Did you know?", and has already started getting weird edits. Please don't remove maint notices[edit]

Please do not remove maintenance notices from pages, as you did to Turko-Persian Tradition, unless the required changes have been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:45, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Will Pittenger,

Thanks for your kind messages. As you can see,

  • Wikipedia:POV check, the policy says "The POV check template, {{POV-check}}, may be added to an article which you feel may need to be edited to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. Add the template at the top of the article, and then explain your reasons on the talk page of the article that needs checking (not the talk pages of the template or this article)."
  • This template was added there in a racial way.

So, I think it is better to remove template from that article. Regards. MustTC 07:02, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for breach of WP:3RR on Persianate[edit]

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future.

Request reason:

I have not violated 3RR in Persianate article.I reverted vandal IP attack

Decline reason:

Not all of your reversions were to IP address edits. It is not clear to me that this is a straight-forward 3RR violation but I am not comfortable unblocking you as you were not removing simple vandalism. That you did not attempt to reach a consensus in your edits leaves me with no choice but to reject your unblock request.I would not oppose another admin unblocking you if they so desire, however. -- Yamla 20:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

There was a vandal attacks by IP User:58.147.4.20 to many articles as well as Persianate. I reverted two times its vandalism back. I reported it in; here and here [9]. MustTC 20:09, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I received your email, Mustafa. Although, I cannot comment as to whether you were removing vandalism or not, I saw that you removed some of the reliable sources that directed towards the Iranica, which I felt was disruption over your breach of WP:3RR. However, I respect Alex's judgment and have unblocked you on that count. In the future, take care to respect WP:3RR, WP:POINT and always try to discuss on the talk page. What matters is what content remains on the page for a longer period, and not transitory periods of revert-warring. Take care. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} {L} 11:39, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Nicholas, Thanks for your good faith. Also thanks to Alex for his referance fom me. I will under pressure of obligation to respect to this referanceand your good faith in my future edits. I think this is my responsibility. Please let me state some points; My first/main mission is to organise/categorise/wikify/contribute Turkey related articles. Unfortunately there are not so much Turkish users in wiki. Of course there are much users which interested in these articles, but some (a group of) users ,put some misinformation, unsourced infos, strong anti-Turkish POVs to these articles. As a conclusion I defence these articles( I accept that some time in a aggressive way under stress). In persianate case; of course Iranica can be accepted as a reliable source, but I have some suspicion for Iranica in Persianate. Like as Islam Encyclopidia for Muslim. Just for my info; Can I restrict my self for 1RR (to protect myself for a period of time, to calm down), where can I find details in wiki.? Thanks again. Sincerely yours. MustTC 12:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from editing the Persianate page till the period your block would have naturally expired. Also avoid the talk page of the article, so that other users may assume good faith with you. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} {L} 12:33, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wake up[edit]

You keep reverting perfectly valid edits in Turkey and TRNC. The Turkey article has become far too long and the history just adds superfluous information that belongs to Turkey history and Ataturk articles. This is not about sentiment but concisness and about polishing an article to make it reader-friendly. I am quite happy to let you destroy those articles but at least explain why you revert edits. User:Politis

TfD comments[edit]

Mustafa, I have made a partial revert on the TfD for the Armenian capitals article, restoring the anon's comment (I thought it was just spam, but now that I have time to read it I can see that this wasn't the intention, so in this case, I apologize).Still, I have removed your comments and moved them to Francis's talk page as that is the appropriate place to put them. Kindest regards, Clevelander 14:35, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, Francis responded to me and said that he will not close the TfD on no concensus yet.He says he will wait until Saturday to do so, if no reasonable solution is agreed upon.Again, my position is for the template to remain but to rename it to "former Armenian capitals" as opposed to just "Armenian capitals."That way, it shall be a victory for both Armenian and Turkish users. Best, Clevelander 15:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, then I will move all of your comments (in completion) to Francis's talk page. They should be there, not on the TfD discussion. Also, in the future, please post all comments on my user talk page, not on the IP I'm using now. -- Clevelander 15:19, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They should be moved there because it specfically relates to my comments on Francis's talk page. Please all I want is to end this whole thing peacefully and iron this whole template issue out.I'm afraid that your out-of-place comments will only enflame the situation. -- Clevelander 15:24, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I found out that I was able to log on Wikipedia at work.Perfect.So please move your comments from the IP page to mine and move your TfD comments to Francis's talk page. All the best, Clevelander 15:28, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No your comments relate more towards my private discussion with Francis. If you don't wish to move them on his page, then move them to mine (as they are addressed to me).-- Clevelander 15:30, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I explained to you my fear.I'm afraid that your out-of-place comments will only enflame the situation and not help it.-- Clevelander 15:34, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It also wouldn't make any sense to place your comments on the TfD page as I already responded to the anon's comments. -- Clevelander 15:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will respond only if you remove the quote from the anon (as its already on the TfD and will only confuse the reader) and if you only link my message to Francis, not quote it as it clutters things up. -- Clevelander 15:45, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I fulfilled your request. The least you could do is to not troll around by reverting my other edits and adding more POV to the article. You wouldn't want me to make a POV-check on this article. Miskin 17:46, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that I understand what you're trying to say. In any case, some time ago Byzantine Greeks was only a small sub-section of Greeks, now there's a whole new article and I'm getting links for it, that is all. Nobody told you to help me out, but there's no reason for you to keep making blind reverts. When I edit a Turkish-related article it doesn't mean that I'm criticising its content as you probably imagine. Changing Macedonia (region) to the anachronistic Republic of Macedonia is either POV or trolling. Miskin 18:02, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can't you see that this is about Macedonia during the Balkan wars? It was part of the Ottoman Empire at the time, no Slavic state, only a region. Miskin 18:28, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delioğul'dan[edit]

Böyle küçük birşeyi rica etmeniz bile yeterdi zaten ama unutulmaması gereken şey Türklerin hiçbir yerde ziyaretçi olmadıklarıdır. Toprağının senin olup olmadığını belirleyen şey onun üstünde kaç bin sene kaldığın değil uğruna neleri feda edebildiğindir ki biz güzel Anadolu'yu düşman elinden kurtarmak için çektiğimiz çilelerle toprağımıza sahip çıkmayı bildik. Mail işini de halledebildim sanırım. Saygılarımla, Deliogul 12:50, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas[edit]

I understand your intentions, but next time, try not to use a fair use image to wish people a Merry/Happy Christmas?—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 20:56, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Fair use for more information on fair use images and why they cannot be placed on anything but an article.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 21:29, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy holidays to you, Mustafa! Thanks for the very nice picture. Ryulong is right: we are not allowed to use Fair Use images outside the article space, but I still illegally enjoyed it for a few minutes. Alex Bakharev 21:37, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Mustafa. Don't worry, everything is fine. Anyway as a Russian Orthodox Christian I suppose to celebrate Christmas on January 7 (I celebrate both, just in case). I guess good Muslims are suppose to celebrate Kurban Bayram and Al-Hijra (it looks like all religions have some sort of a mid-winter festival). Happy holidays again Alex Bakharev 22:01, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And thanks from me, too. Don't worry too much about the fair-use business - it's an easy mistake anyone could make, but we are supposed to use only gfdl and pd images on talk pages. Hope you have a great festive season! Grutness...wha? 22:54, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Mustafa, I injoyed the illegality. :) Fad (ix) 23:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

I'm sorry, but what exactly do you mean by "main directions" and "sub directions". This must be the language barrier. Anyways, as far as I know, both "southeast" and "south east" are correct. If you look at the Southeast article, it lists all spellings. Basically, I moved the pages based on Google hits—you can see my findings here and here. Saygılar, Khoikhoi 08:53, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I get it now. As I said, both are grammatically correct. I prefer to use Southeastern Anatolia because of the Southeastern United States. :-) Cheers, Khoikhoi 09:04, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry I couldn't answer your question in time - Southeastern is preferred. You can also you South-East. I went to bed, but woke up excited about Christmas - we are having crab!NinaEliza (talk contribs logs) 10:16, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baklava, Raki, Ordu, etc..[edit]

You said ask for help if I needed it. How do I stop people from erasing my sourced and verifiable contribs? Also, they say reason being for reverts is "not a good source", and sometimes no reason. How is that handled? I made a lot of research, and those sources would be valid even in court...yet they erase without any explanation.
