A tag has been placed on Draft:Manly Warringah Kayak Club, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Manlywarringahkayakclub. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Manly Warringah Kayak Club, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 14 novembre (talk) 🇮🇹 16:32, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Alexf(talk) 16:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

The Club is not for profit Kayak club that supports a community of kayakers, ocean paddlers and para-canoe athletes. We have a history of the club that we want to capture about the club, how it was formed & built and the Australian Olympians that have paddled for the club, all 14 of them have Wikipedia pages that promote them far more than we mention our club. We are also looking to add articles to the community in relationship to kayaking & ocean paddling in Australia and globally (US, Europe and South Africa.
The club does not have a lot of resources to research wikipedia policy but did attempt to follow the format and topics used by other paddling clubs in the US, and even feed our post through ChatGPT to ensure our content was correctly structured.
‪Manlywarringahkayakclub‬ is a not for profit, ‪Manly Warringah Sea Eagles‬ by comparison has a substantive coverage and a fully commercial operation. We have not been paid for this, we donated our time to this kayak club and do not agree with the original determination made by AlexF, but happy to work with Wikipedia to pay for a presence or amend the part of our original content that may have not aligned to Wikipedia policy Manlywarringahkayakclub (talk) 06:00, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You have not proposed a new username as instructed. Usernames may not be entirely that of a group, they must be individualistic in nature as accounts are strictly single person use only and may not be shared. (User talk:Ausdcol01 suggests multiple people have access to this account) Please designate a single person to exclusively operate this account who can propose a new username. A username in the format of "JohnDoe of MWKC" would be acceptable. Regarding the block itself, you have some misunderstandings about Wikipedia. One does not pay money to be included. Anyone who offers to charge you money to gain an article is likely trying to scam you. Wikipedia is not a database of organizations where existence warrants a mention, nor is it a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves, what they do, and what they consider to be their own history. Wikipedia articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, and those articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the topic, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability, like a notable organization.
Please read conflict of interest. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your club. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you want to be a more general contributor and edit about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, like your Prime Minister or the history of Australia or science, please tell what topics you might edit about. Once you have a good edit history that shows your understanding of relevant policies, you may later be permitted to indirectly contribute about your club, but not now. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:04, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
