DYK for Cray-3
On 3 January 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Cray-3, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that when Seymour Cray designed the Cray-3 supercomputer, he insisted that the processor fit into a 1-cubic-foot (0.028 m3) block? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cray-3. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Cray-3), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Replaceable fair use File:Fairchild channel-f system 2.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Fairchild channel-f system 2.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:07, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Graphsim Entertainment
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Graphsim Entertainment requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. CNMall41 (talk) 19:46, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
Camp Century
Maury, not sure if this is in your bailiwick, but do you have any sources on Camp Century? It was a US military base under the Greenland ice cap, and some ice cores were drilled there in the 1960s. I've started List of ice cores and would like to get the altitude of the camp; I can see that it's 6180 feet from some unreliable sources but would like to get something more reliable if possible. If you have a moment to look I'd appreciate it. Thanks -- Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 01:24, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Mike Christie: Oh yes, I remember reading a scifi book where they had missiles under ice, and then read about Century sometime later and realized where he got the idea. There was a fairly lengthy article on Century just a few months back in one of the US military magazines, I'll see if I can track it down. It's a totally fascinating topic IMHO, speaking to both the high-tech arms race of the era, as well as the US Army's inferiority complex that made them pursuit such crazy ideas. Maury Markowitz (talk) 11:14, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks! For now all I need is a source for the altitude, but if you find anything about the ice core drilling projects (1960-66, and then apparently one in 1977) let me know (particularly the 1977 one). I agree it's fascinating; it's surprising that the Project Iceworm and Camp Fistclench articles are much more detailed than Camp Century. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:22, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
@Mike Christie: Sorry Mike, only one of my books even mentions it, and it's in passing. Nothing online either. You'd think City under the Ice would, but nope! Maury Markowitz (talk) 23:38, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking, anyway. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 23:41, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

The article Paracomp has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Maury Markowitz. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi Maury, I finally got back the question you raised last Oct. re synchrotron radiation. Hope that clarifies the issue (rather than confusing it further....) Cheers, Wwheaton (talk) 01:58, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
The article Zenoah has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DYK for Nitze criteria
On 12 December 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nitze criteria, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Nitze criteria for a successful ballistic missile defense gained "the status of holy writ" within the Reagan administration? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nitze criteria. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Nitze criteria), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Disambiguation link notification for December 16
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Laser Inertial Fusion Energy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fission (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
