Wii's hardware WiiConnect 24 issue

[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Original_Research http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources

Either source it with GameSpot or IGN or it's staying out.

The Nintendo WiFi comment about 32 players is not needed at all. This is boasting about it's online capabilities and this is not the section for that. Do we have editors going back gloating about the amount of players online on the Ps2, Xbox, and GC? Of course not. This is not going to be the case here as there is no incentive for having it. Lastly, router hardware problems are the least of all things to put under a technical problem about the Wii. --ChibiMrBubbles 11:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jack Thompson criticsm

[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jack_Thompson_%28attorney%29&diff=183563575&oldid=183563245

"(I don't see how being the subject of a webcomic is worth creating a section for.)"

The webcomic entry is criticism - Very obvious criticism, in fact. VGCats is widely-read and has an Alexa rating of 3,324 (astonishing!) The author lives off of his work and appears at conventions. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:07, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What a source is "reputable" for is for the statement asked. The website owned by Scott Ramsoomair, so in terms of "Does this site reputably express Ramsoomair's opinions? Would this be reliable in terms of gauging Ramsoomair's opinions" it is very much reliable. Think of the claim that I am making. The claim is that Ramsoomair has a low opinion of Thompson and wrote a critique in a (highly popular) webcomic. Of course people highly vested in video games are going to oppose Thompson.

"I think it would be a mistake to assume that each comic created by Scott Ramsoomair accurately represents his views on the comic's subject." - Common sense tells me that he holds a very low opinion of Thompson. He may have written comments against Thompson before, but I forget where they were.

The only reason why that is the only entry is because that is all I have found.

Now, regarding posting of viewpoints, here is what Wikipedia has to say about that in Wikipedia:NPOV#Undue weight

"# If a viewpoint is held by a significant minority, then it should be easy to name prominent adherents;"

It doesn't have to say that the source has to be reliable in presenting facts - All it has to be is prominent! Square Enix commissioned Ramsoomair to write some comic strips for a Final Fantasy game, so I would say he is very prominent.

WhisperToMe (talk) 07:15, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please go back to the talk page ASAP - I discovered an interview which confirms that Ramsoomair disagrees with "[Conservative groups, watchdog groups]" WhisperToMe (talk) 06:30, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Archive box

[edit]

I am attempting to make a new archive box, in which there is no box-width parameter, and one of the few pages still using the box-width parameter is this one. Is there any way possible to remove the box-width parameter from this box? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MrKIA11 (talk) 19:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

rollback

[edit]

I have granted rollback rights to your account, because after a review of some of your contributions it appears that we can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended use of reverting vandalism: and believe you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Rollback feature and Rollback school. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck. NoSeptember 05:39, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Articles for deletion/List of claims made by Zeitgeist, the Movie

[edit]
  • I just created this page a week ago Friday (Jan 25) and so far I have been the only editor of this page, but I would like to avoid having it deleted in the hope that other editors will collaborate on it with me.
  • I want to let you know that many things have changed regarding this article since you voted to have it deleted.
  • I have fully read and responded to every Wikipedia guideline that I have been referred to,
  • I have modified my plans for the article and changed the way I view the subject in order to fit within those guidelines,
  • I have explained my position and my goals in detail on the AfD for the page,
  • and I have completely blanked the talk page of the article since most of the concerns about guidelines involved the talk page and not the actual article.
  • I am sure you will find that I have made a great effort to contribute to the usefulness and quality of Wikipedia, and that my actions are motivated by a desire to improve Wikipedia and to keep Wikipedia neutral.
  • I believe that the only guidelines my article can still be accused of violating are those concerning "notability" and "lists of random facts" and being that this is such a young article, I urge you to revisit the article, the AfD for the article, as well as the article's talk page, and make sure that you still feel that the article needs to be deleted right now.
  • Thank-you for your time, and I appreciate your efforts in keeping Wikipedia clutter-free!
Sincerely,

Long-term Survivor vandal

[edit]

Since you are one of the ones who often catches the vandalism like this to the current Survivor season and similar vandalism to last season, if you see him again and revert him, can you also check and revert his other edits? They are almost always just as bad a the Survivor change. He often vandalizes American Idol, Big Brother, Dancing with the Stars, Dance War, and Cars related articles at the same time. I've been blocking him when he appears, but he seems to have multiple IPs, that are interestingly in different geographic regions. Anyways, if you could check his other edits when you revert the Survivor edit, that would be great. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 07:08, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Band

[edit]

With regards to the edit on this page I believe it is a valid source, how about if I provided the link to ebay as well? Also it remains a fact that the PS3 is indeed region free and it has compelled people in the UK import the game, myself included. This is proven so how can my edit not be valid when there is a citation there and the preceding facts are true?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Thenextavailable (talkcontribs) 18:39, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Band Reverb

[edit]

Whereas I do agree with you upon that, it doesnt change the fact that the PS3 is region free and that more people are buying it online (from the UK) so they can still play it. Thats the point I was trying to make, maybe there should be an additional information paragraph separate then as Wiki is a source of information for one so wouldnt other UK gamers want to know this information if they dont know it already? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thenextavailable (talkcontribs) 19:04, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Bracketology

[edit]

An editor has nominated Bracketology, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bracketology and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jack Thompson (attorney)

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jack Thompson (attorney). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Strongsauce (talk) 01:23, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Portlet titles

[edit]

Hi. I saw your question on Talk:Main Page about the capitalisation of the box titles on the left panel in the Monobook skin, and I gave a reply there. As you may not have seen it, I am repeating it here... The reason for the lower-case titles is aesthetics -- I believe that it is considerably more visually pleasing. If you don't like it, you can easily configure the skin to display it capitalised for you by adding

.portlet h5 { text-transform: none; }

to your personal monobook.css file.

Hi Maxamegalon2000,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

I wanted to thank you...

[edit]

In April 2007, long before I began editing, you reverted a redirect for the article Hunter Ellis. Sadly, it received only minimum attention over the next 2 years, until quite recently it was returned to AFD. That was when and where I saw the article. Not being afraid of a little WP:AFTER, I did some research and managed to turn the sow's ear into a suitable silk purse. Had you not corrected the improper redirect back then I would never had had the opportunity to source the notability for the article. So... long story short... I wanted to thank you for catching it when you did. Hope you're having a happy holiday season... and seeing that you are a Wisconsonite, I also wish you continued warmth.
