Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Jim Barber, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.hamnerbarber.com/castmembers.htm, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), you can comment to that effect on Talk:Jim Barber. Then you should do one of the following:

  • Make a note on the original website that re-use is permitted under the GFDL and state at Talk:Jim Barber where we can find that note; or
  • Send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL.

It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Whpq 16:23, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's another problem here. If you wrote the copy for the hamnerbarber.com website, and then pretty much lifted that material for the Wikipedia article, then you have a conflict of interest because you are actively involved in promoting the subject of your article, and that is also a violation of Wikipedia policy. Basically, the article needs to be written (or re-written) by someone not tied to Barber himself, personally or professionally. That is so that the article can be objective in its presentation. Having said all that, I feel confident that Barber is notable enough by Wikipedia's notability standards to merit an article. I will try to rewrite the article over the next few days to help bring it in line with WP policies. (By the way, I caught Barber's act on David Letterman's Ventriloquists Week 2. He's very good!) Update: I went ahead and did the rewrite while it was fresh on my mind. I think this will take care of all problems. By the way, thanks for putting the GFDL license on the website to clear up any issues. I think we're good to go now. I hope to get to Branson to check out Barber's act someday.
