Subheading issues

Hi, Dr. Scott! My fungus is Saksenaea vasiformis, a fairly newly discovered fungus in 1953. All the articles are about case reports and pathogenic characteristics of the fungus and I don't know where to find the history, ecology of the fungus :(.. Any advice??? I'm not sure, but maybe start by trying this: Chien, Chiu-Yuan; Bhat, Darbhe Jayarama; Kendrick, W. Bryce. 1992. Mycological observations on Saksenaea vasiformis (Saksenaeaceae, Mucorales). Transactions of the Mycological Society of Japan 33(4): 443-447. It should be in the ESC library or in the stacks at Gerstein. Also try: Watanake T. 2011. Pictorial atlas of soil and seed fungi, 3rd ed. Boca Raton FL: CRC Press. (The second edition will work if that's all we have.) Although we don't have Howard DH. Pathogenic fungi in humans and animals (2nd ed.). New York: Marcel Dekker, ISBN 0824706838, I can send you the relevant part next week. You might also be able to get some good references from the "Saksenaea" entry in Ainsworth & Bisby's Dictionary of the Fungi (Kirk PM et al. (eds) 2008. Ainsworth & Bisby's Dictionary of the Fungi, 10th ed. Wallingford UK: CABI International.) Ask Professor Summerbell next week too, because he might have some other suggestions. How to transfer stub-article into my sandbox

Hello Dr. Scott , I have a quick question for you. I'm writing my article on Aspergillus terrus and it's already a stub article on Wikipedia. I want to expand it but I'm not sure if I should make changes on the article's edit page or whether I should move the existing information into my sandbox (as an external link) where I can then continue the writing process. I suggest you copy the existing material to your sandbox and work from there. Just hit the "edit" tab on the Aspergillus terreus page, then copy all (Ctrl-A), go back to your sandbox, edit and paste. Working in your sandbox will prevent others from modifying your work before you have completed it. Medmyco (talk) 15:02, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Dr. Scott, how do I go about starting my article stub from my sandbox? There's an option to create article, but it says I may have to wait three weeks to have it reviewed which didn't seem right so and I didn't want to do anything I couldn't undo. Also in terms of citing a book, the citing fields we are required to fill out only include space for one author's name. What should we do if there are multiple authors? You can either put the references on the talk page or in your sandbox. If you do it in your sandbox, as I showed in the tutorials, you can attach the references to point-form facts, which will make the article writing easier. Medmyco (talk) 22:39, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Paracoccidioidomyosis

Regarding assignment due on Friday

Hello Dr Scott, I am panicking now because I finished the first assignment by Wednesday, but I just figured out that writing in the sandbox does not automatically upload onto the talk page and we were supposed to post it onto the talk page. For some reason I thought sandbox and talk page are connected or something, I don't know why I was thinking this way. So I copied my writing from sandbox into talk page right now. I couldn't think of a reason why. Maybe there are some eager people who thinks those articles look ready and submit them to AfC. I looked at the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Medicine-related articles and read the section on case studies. Do you think I should just remove the case studies and/or write them in a different format? Moving Article to Main Space

I am not able to move my article to the main space becuase the article already exists. I created the article that already exists so I'm tempted to copy my sandbox and past into the main article, I've read that this is not a good idea because it destroys the edit history. Any ideas? Scopulariopsis Brevicaulis

I merged Scopulariopsis Brevicaulis into Microascus brevicaulis because according to a 1998 paper, they appear to be about the same species. Please see the talk page for details. If post-1998 research indicates that the two species are distinct, please either remove the "histmerge" template at the top of Microascus brevicaulis and undo my edit to Scopulariopsis Brevicaulis, or if the histmerge has already happened, ask the administrator who did it to undo it. Two pages

Hi, I want to ask you if Mycocladus corymbifer and Lichtheimia corymbifera are referring to the same species. On Mycocladus corymbifer, it is far less developed and listed Lichtheimia corymbifera as the synonym (yet on Lichtheimia corymbifera it didn't list Mycocladus corymbifer as synonym). Yes, they are the same thing. The fungus should currently be treated in the genus Lichtheimia per Hoffmann et al (Revision of the genus Absidia (Mucorales, Zygomycetes) based on physiological, phylogenetic, and morphological characters; thermotolerant Absidia spp. form a coherent group, Mycocladiaceae fam. nov., Mycol Res 111:1169-1183, 2007, PMID:17997297; and Mycol. Fungus photos

I moved them to Wikimedia Commons (which allow the same image to be re-used in non-English Wikipedias, Wikispecies, and others). What you previously did was considered "local upload", which did not allow re-use by the aforementioned projects due to technical limitations. The photos remain there, see Microascus brevicaulis as example. It only switched the image provider from local to Commons. The only image path that I changed was File:Paecilomyces variotii culture.jpg because a photo of the same name already exists in Commons, so I don't understand why you said you couldn't see them in any of the articles. Weird. When I told you to check Microascus brevicaulis earlier today, the image was there. Now it shows the same symptom. But pages like Onychocola canadensis remain unaffected. I sent a question to see if others are experiencing similar issue. OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:31, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I purged the cached versions of the page. Before the purge, there was no image. After the purge, the image was there. I didn't have to do any of the fancy steps recommended for images, just a simple purge of Microascus brevicaulis was all that was required. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 06:05, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

I stole a few from other wikipedia pages because I read the copyright infringements of wikipedia and it said that I could use images from other pages. Question: Books for Setosphaeria rostrata

Hi Professor, Unfortunately I could't find any information on the ecology of Setosphaeria rostrata in most of the books I looked at.-Including Compendium of Soil Fungi which you suggested. I did find a small snippet in the book The ecology of soil fungi-1958, however it refers to the genus Helminthosporium which was used to classify my species in 1923. The book says these pigmented species were in desert sands of dayas, this type of vegetation is found localized in the mobile surface layer of the basin soil and rapidly disappears with depth between 5-10 cm below surface areas. Micromycetes localized in surface layers are easily shifted and dispersed by wind. Is this something I can use even though it does not specifically indicate it is true for S. rostrata. Yes, I know the book. There would be no ambiguity with the identification given the characteristic morphology of the fungus, so I think the reference is credible in this case even though it is old. I don't have easy access to most of the sources used for this article, but some of the writing sounds sounds like it could be too closely paraphrased.
