Welcome![edit]

Hello, Melizdean, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Isagenix International, seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, please see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Grayfell (talk) 03:08, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Melizdean, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Isagenix International have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 03:08, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Grayfell Hello, please specify what you mean by copyright. I work for Isagenix and everything (perhaps with exclusion to the Dr. Oz fact) that I updated is facts from our website and/or from our health blog in which we have permission to use.There is a ton of misinformation in all sections on the page that needs to be updated Melizdean (talk) 03:27, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Megan[reply]
@Greyfell, just saw your response on your talk page. Everything I added was facts. I can make it more black and white if needed. I how do I see the edits that I made? Are they totally gone? Melizdean (talk) 04:03, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Megan[reply]
Hello. They are not gone, they are in the article's history. That is not an invitation to restore them, however.
Yes, I understand what you are saying, but that doesn't change anything. The edits you made were definitely too promotional by far, and you replaced reliable sources with PR. Wikipedia isn't a platform for promotion, so copy/pasting from your website is totally inappropriate. I don't know if you are employed by the company, or are an affiliate, but either way, you almost certainly do not have the right to release that content to Wikipedia. The material you added was not appropriate, but even if it were, you still wouldn't want to make that edit. This isn't just about repeating promotional material (getting the word out there) releasing it to Wikipedia would be allowing that content to be used by anyone for a broad range of purposes, commercial or not. This could allow competing companies, for example, to legally use that exact same wording. For that and other reasons, Wikipedia doesn't take these things lightly, which is why copy/pasting is not acceptable. This is all explained above, which I suggest you read very carefully. If you have any specific questions after reading that, go ahead and ask. Before that, however...
Since you are affiliated with Isagenix, you should not be directly editing the article at all. You have a conflict of interest which prevents (or at least severely hampers) neutral editing. Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Again, Wikipedia is not a platform for advertising. Propose any changes to the article's talk page: Talk:Isagenix International, but please be aware that these issues, such as the MLM thing, may have come up before. Thanks. March 2017[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Isagenix International, you may be blocked from editing. Grayfell (talk) 04:20, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Melizdean. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 04:20, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How does one dispute inaccurate/outdated information? Please advise. Melizdean (talk) 04:21, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Megan[reply]

I've already explained all of this above. Grayfell (talk) 04:22, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I can't find anything about disputes in your messages above. Please advise Melizdean (talk) 04:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Megan[reply]

Propose any changes to the article's talk page: Talk:Isagenix International, but please be aware that these issues, such as the MLM thing, may have come up before. Grayfell (talk) 04:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Melizdean, please propose changes on talk rather than doing them directly, per the guideline WP:COI. Continuing insertion of promotional material into the article may get you blocked. Galobtter (pingó mió) 05:22, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

December 2018[edit]

Copyright problem icon One of your recent additions has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. You copied straight from https://www.isagenix.com/en-US/library/earnings-statement in your edits. If you do that again you may be blocked. Galobtter (pingó mió) 05:29, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to be more specific since all the edits were reverted? I am not sure which one you are talking about. Thank you
"In 2017, approximately 78,000 U.S. associates (approximately 20% of U.S. members) earned some compensation." and more is copied straight from https://www.isagenix.com/en-US/library/earnings-statement Galobtter (pingó mió) 06:26, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I tweaked it on the Talk page, take a look now. Also, are you going to review all of my proposed edits please? Melizdean (talk) 06:32, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dec 13, 2018 Edits on Isagenix International[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.

Am I not even allowed to "edit" on the talk page? That is all I am doing right now, trying to follow Wikipedia proposed edits process Melizdean (talk) 06:18, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You were warned[1] less than an hour after you last edit warred,[2]. Whatever you are doing now has no bearing on the reason why you were warned. Rhode Island Red (talk) 21:28, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
