In response to your feedback[edit]

I just read your article and the english looks great- there may be minor errors in spelling or typos, but i wasn't particularly looking for them.

Ryan shell (talk) 17:35, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Ryan, thank you. I feel much more secure. Thanks again. Menke66 (talk) 17:36, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. also, i just saw the notice on your user page. if you still want/need adoption, let me know. I would be happy to help. Ryan shell (talk) 17:38, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Ryan, yes I do. I did soms work on the Dutch Wiki but on the English Wiki sometimes other symbols are used and I would like someone to take a look at my articles first before I put them "online". Is that possible? Best regard, Menke66 (talk) 17:42, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds easy enough. you can write articles in your own personal sandbox so that it will not be edited by others or considered part of wikipedia's articles until ready., tell me on my talk page when you want me to take a look at them.

Ryan shell (talk) 17:58, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I will. Best regards, Menke66 (talk) 20:27, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

re:Elisabeth Couperus-Baud[edit]

Hello again. I read through your article and i have a few small suggestions. This being said, keep in mind that your article is probably ready for publication as is, so don't take too much of what i saw to heart.

  • "Assistent" may need to be changed to "assistant." This could just be that i am not used to british spelling though.
  • You should probably put rough english translations of some of the titles of books/letters/essays in parentheses next to the actual name
  • "after her marriage to Louis Couperus Couperus-Baud...” needs a comma to become “after her marriage to Louis Couperus, Couperus-Baud...”

Other than that, i think you are all set with this article. Ryan shell (talk) 18:43, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I changed the things you said and I've added a translation in English to the Works. Thank you very much! Menke66 (talk) 19:03, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Your sandbox page was redirected to AFC, and that AFC was redirected again to the article in question. you should be able to get to your sandbox easily now, i left the redirect up though so you can see how the wiki-markup looks.

Keep in mind that if you ever write an article on your sandbox and then send it to AFC, your sandbox will be redirected again. Ryan shell (talk) 14:20, 29 January 2013 (UTC) PS) you should look into becomes auto-patrolled or whatever its called. then you can just create articles as your want with or without the afc process.[reply]

Thanks! Best wishes, Menke66 (talk) 15:10, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Couperus[edit]

Thank you for your work on Louis Couperus. The article has been greatly improved. Once you're finished with your edits, you might want to nominate it for the good article status. In my honest opinion, it's certainly a good article, much better than it was three months ago. Well done! Michael! (talk) 15:12, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Michael, I've finished it - only things that have to be added are links to articles about his books, which I still have to write. I did ask for a review - here!. Thank you for your compliments and best wishes, Menke66 (talk) 15:26, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Over there your article won't be rated above 'B' quality, nor would you get a proper review with useful feedback. I've nominated the article for a GA status; it is already listed at WP:GAN#LIT. Michael! (talk) 17:02, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks you very much! Regards, Menke66 (talk) 17:16, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The reviewing process has been started. Please have a look at Talk:Louis Couperus/GA1.Michael! (talk) 13:00, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will have a look later this week. I am very busy at the moment. Best regards, Menke66 (talk) 20:07, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! I've already started to address some of the suggestions, but feel free to intervene and improve my edits when you've got more time.Michael! (talk) 13:44, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For your information, Louis Couperus didn't meet the GA criteria and is now a "failed GA".Michael! (talk) 12:52, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Noodlot[edit]

Hi Menke66, I noticed you've created new articles on several of Couperus' books and stories on the English Wikipedia. That's perfectly fine, but could you work more careful in the future? For instance, you've created the page Footsteps of faith, which is about Couperus' book Noodlot. However, Noodlot is translated as Footsteps of Fate, and not: Footsteps of faith; "faith" ((in Dutch) geloof, geloofsovertuiging, vertrouwen) has a different meaning than "Fate" ((in Dutch) lot, noodlot, lotsbeschikking). I hope you understand correcting such small mistakes is more time-consuming than carelessly creating new articles. Thank you in advance!Michael! (talk) 13:02, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A few more advices[edit]

  • Wikilinks: "A term should be linked, generally, at most once in an article's lead, perhaps once again in the main article body, and perhaps once at first occurrence in each infobox, table, caption, and footnote." Avoid overlinking, per MOS:LINK. Furthermore, never use Wikilinks inside a quote or title.
  • Quotations should always be within "quotation marks" (and not italicized), per MOS:QUOTE.
  • Foreign words and terms should always be italicized, per MOS:FOREIGN.
  • Titles of works of art (incl. books) should generally be italicized, although titles of smaller parts (e.g. chapter titles, short poems, songs, and speeches) should be within "quotation marks", per MOS:TITLE
  • The lead section (the first paragraph of an article, immediately above the table of contents) should be a summary of and introduction to the article and should contain no information which isn't worked out in the article body text itself, per MOS:LEAD.
  • If you create a new article about a book (as you seem to be often doing), first check whether or not an English translation has been published.
    • If so, use the title of the English translation as the name of the article (e.g. Footsteps of Fate instead of Noodlot).
    • If not, use the untranslated title of the original book as the name of the article (e.g. Schimmen van schoonheid instead of Shadows of beauty), because this is the most common name. You can provide a rough translation yourself (between brackets) in the text, e.g.: Schimmen van schoonheid (Shades of beauty).
    • If a certain "title" is already in use for another article, try "title (book)" or "title (author)".

I hope these advices are helpful. Michael! (talk) 16:17, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here, you wrote File:Newspaper where Lemmens is mentioned when he received his exam.jpg is "a copy of a digital newspaper of 1929, so free of copyright" and "Date 1929", but the newspaper article says "1932" and here you posted "Newspaper of 1932". -- Jreferee (talk) 12:02, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Oorlogsherinneringskruis Lemmens.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Oorlogsherinneringskruis Lemmens.jpg, which you've attributed to Gerard Lemmens. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
