Medal V2

What Do You Think of the New Version 2 Medal :)? I apologize for it taking so long with it :(, anyways; I wanted to show you the medal before I added the Ribbon to it, although I am having a bit of a hard time tilting the medal on its side to show how thick it is (I am not sure exactly how to render it on its side like you wanted). But anyways I would love to hear your opinion about Version 2.0 of the Award :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 18:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Nope, it's not what I'm looking for. It shouldn't include any element of the globe award in there. The awards are not supposed to match. What I need is an engraved gold medal. I provided the Jimbo medal as an example only. The medal I'm looking for is a gold medal with a world map engraved in it. The only words on the new medal should be "Wikipedia World Developer", engraved, wrapped, and centered along the inner bottom edge of the medal. Is all that something you can do? The Transhumanist    19:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Mifter, I just wanted to drop in and thank you for your !vote of confidence at my recent RFA. you may also find my in-depth RFA analysis interesting (comments are welcome). i've also left some templated thank spam below for you. RE:RFA Nomination

Hello Mifter

First of all I would like to thank you very much for attempting to nominate me, and I am glad I have had such an affect on you like the one you stated. At the moment I am refining my edits so a coach would be happy to do exactly that with me, and hopefully one day I will be an Administrator but I need more time to refine my edits and generally build up a good rapport as the selection process is stringent. At the moment I am sadly going to decline because of the above and advice from two Admins I have gone to in search of coaching, but one day in the near-ish future I would love to be able to accept your nomination. Many thanks again. Yours, Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 14:27, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

AWB for editing

I noticed that you use AWB for editing an you say a few words about this tool tx Bodyarmor (talk) 11:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there :), I would love to help you with AWB, but your question was kind of vague, if you could re-state your question so that its a bit clearer, I would appreciate it :). Anyways, here’s the best answer to your question as I currently interpret it :). I think that AWB is a very useful tool that can be used for many practical tasks on Wikipedia such as fixing spelling errors, repairing bad wiki links and subseting templates. AWB is currently limited to editors with over 500 mainspace (Article) edits, the reason for this is because the tool has a huge potential for vandalism and the 500 edit rule helps to prevent vandal use of the tool. I hope that answered your question, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks I did see the access controls on the AWB page and this makes a lot of sense. You have answered my question on how AWB is used. I will take a look at some more of the introductory material you note in your letter, some of this material I have seen and some I have not. Many thanks Bodyarmor (talk) 08:12, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

50 Metre penalty editing

Hi Can you please explain why you reverted my edit when I was making it correct so that it matches with The Laws of Australian Football....I have umpired for 5 years and have thorough understanding of the 50-metre penalty and I have read wrong information in the article 119.11.89.36 (talk) 13:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, Sorry about that, when I first saw your edit I thought that it was mere vandalism, and reverted it, but after taking a second look, I realize that I was mistaken, and as such I have removed the warning template from your talk page and undone my edits restoring your edits :). Thank you for bringing this to my attention, because unfortunately sometimes when I am fighting vandalism, I make mistakes, being that I am human like everyone else, I know that it is inevitable that I will but thank you for brining this to my attention so that I can fix the mistake :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 13:36, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

50 Metre Penalty

Hey mate it seems I do have an account, i completely forgot about it....any chance that the edit can be reinstated as it is incorrect? Tardis142000 (talk) 13:39, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there :), I have already re-instated your to 50-metre penalty so now the article shows the correct information as you edited it to :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:37, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up

I thought you might like to know that the Awards Center page has been deleted, along with its newsletter.  :(

So, where do we go from here?

To new and even more interesting projects, of course!

As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.

It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!

This is going to be interesting.

And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

The Transhumanist    21:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: June 2008

Please take a closer look at the edit I made to Hard Candy Promo Tour. The material I removed has little relevance in a section titled "Reviews and Reception [sic]". I pared down the Rolling Stone quote to the part that actually constituted a critical appraisal of the performance. 86.1.249.35 (talk) 22:07, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for informing me of that mistake, after taking a better look I do see that the other information is useless and should be removed. I have removed the notice from your talk page and I apologize for my mistake, unfortunately I sometimes make mistakes when I am fighting vandalism and for that I apologize. Once again thanks for telling me about my mistake and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:11, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Which one do you like better?

Please let me know on my talk page.

Thank you.

The Transhumanist    21:40, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for volunteering

One of the things we're doing to prepare for the event is some rudimentary work on the page set itself - to give participants a better idea of what they will be helping to create.

On each of the country pages listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics, there is a flag and a coat of arms image, next to the table of contents. Their heights are out of whack and they need to be matched up. Malinaccier is working from the beginning of the alphabet, and has gotten through the G's. I need you to start at the end of the alphabet and adjust the heights of the flags and coats of arms to match, until you meet him somewhere in the middle.

For example, adjust each pair that the heights don't match up, like this:

to match up like this:

They take fiddling with, but you'll get the hang of it fast.

Mal has a head start on you, so you better hurry.  :)

The Transhumanist    05:44, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I did some spot checking, and it looks like the H's through the late S's haven't been done yet. I've done the I's. I've gone over the A's through G's, and fine tuned them (some were a couple pixels off). I'll check the T's through Z's. Please start at the H's, and I'll ask Julian to start at the other end. The Transhumanist    10:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Next task

At the top of the Geography section, each page says "x is: a ______". Almost all of them say "x is: a country". That was filled in by a template to save time when the pages were all created, and it's not true for all the pages. A few of these political entities aren't countries (such as dependencies, autonomous regions, etc.). Check each country and fix those. Also, countries made up of islands have their own article devoted to them, so they should be called "x is: an island country". Change those pages too.

Good luck.

Have fun.

The Transhumanist    20:59, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Hint: To save time see List of island countries, Dependent territory, etc. If you copy/paste these 2 pages to a sandbox, with some search/replace magic you can create links that go straight to the pages in the set you need to change. And you can use Linky on those links to open them all in separate tabs (in Firefox), and then cycle through the tabs rapidly by using Ctrl-W to close each tab when you are done with it (and the next tab will be instantly displayed before your eyes).

Juliancolton's task

Julian might need help on his task:

To provide examples for the participants to see what the pages they will be working on are supposed to look like when they are completed, there are about 20 pages we're trying to "finish" before the big collaboration starts:
List of basic Albania topicsList of basic Argentina topicsList of basic Australia topicsList of basic Canada topicsList of basic Ecuador topicsList of basic Egypt topicsList of basic France topicsList of basic Germany topicsList of basic Iceland topicsList of basic India topicsList of basic Indonesia topicsList of basic Iraq topicsList of basic Republic of Ireland topicsList of basic Italy topicsList of basic Isle of Man topicsList of basic Israel topicsList of basic Japan topicsList of basic Macau topicsList of basic Mexico topicsList of basic Russia topicsList of basic Taiwan topicsList of basic United Kingdom topicsList of basic United States topics
What I need you to do is make sure the culture section of each of these pages has image support, and add as many images as comfortably fit in that section. See List of basic Japan topics for an example. The images you select for the pages should be mainstream and/or interesting. Dull and boring is not what we want. Eye-catching and educational are what we're after.
Don't use copyrighted images. All the pics should be GFDL or public domain. You can find pics on relevant articles around Wikipedia, and on Wikipedia:Wikimedia Commons.
I look forward to seeing your improvements to these pages.
If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page so the alert feature works. Thank you.
Good luck.
Have fun.

We're all working together to get this thing ready, so the various tasks don't "belong" to anybody per se, Julian just happens to be the one I posted the above task to. Feel free to jump in and help. He's got the right spirit, and that's exactly what he did on "your" task!  ;)

The Transhumanist    21:08, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

What is Around the World?

It's a collaboration using advanced wiki-tools. It is sponsored jointly by WikiProject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography.

Using these advanced tools, we are building a profile for every country of the world. These drafts are listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

These profiles summarize essential information on each country. They are "topic outlines", but at the same time they are so much more, because Wikipedia is a hypertextual environment. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a sort of site map to material about each country on Wikipedia.

The profiles share a standard format. So rather than tediously working on a single country to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages. For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" (the set of country profiles) feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees.  :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling all around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

The Transhumanist    23:26, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Welcome aboard

You've been working on the set of pages as mentioned above. So guess what that makes you? Yep, you are a co-coordinator!  ;) The Transhumanist    04:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Problem with a bot removing coats of arms

While I was checking your work on matching up flag and coats of arms sizes on the country lists (thank you, by the way), I came across a problem that you should be aware of. A bot has been coming along and removing coats of arms images from pages in the set.

The bot has hit the following pages so far:

I've written a message to the bot's talk page, informing the bot operator of the problem.

See User talk:BJBot#Your bot is damaging some articles we are working on.

If you should run across any more images removed from the country pages, please contact the bot operator (check the history to see which bot did it), and contact me too, right away.

Thank you.

And keep up the good work.

Request further explenation

I see you are deleting my article because "it is very short and provides little or no context".

I am confused concerning the wiki publishing process. Is it the title or lack of content?

Maleitch (talk) 01:37, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, What "it is very short and provides little or no context" means is that the article lacks anything to tell exactly what what the subject of the article is (By that I mean the lack of content). Also, there is a page that gives information on how to write an article and what not to do when writing an article. If you have any further questions feel free to ask. I was in the process of adding content to the page, when I noticed your deletion message. Creating a wiki page for the first time I was attempting to investigate/resolve whatever violation I had committed and lost my content in the process. Is it common for wiki admins to delete pages withing minutes of them being created?

I would like that. I am mainly interested in translation. I speak several different languages and am fluent in German, Chinese, Russian, and several others. I have been translating German pages recently. I think I am going to stick with that as I have enjoyed it. If you could help me or give me any tips that would be greatly appreciated! Also, please take a look at the pages I have translated, and tell me what you think. If there is anything that I could improve on (which I am sure is a lot of areas), please tell me. I am open to any constructive criticism. I am having trouble creating my templates. For some reason they show up as a fricken link instead of the thing I want to show. That is the one problem I have run into so far, which seems minor compared to all of the problems I could be having =). Thank you again for stepping up and adopting me! Hi there, there are plenty of editors that work approving/rejecting all the DYK hooks that are submitted, generally, I just look for hooks that have been marked as OK and then add them to the next set of Hooks to go live on the main page. Also, I have just reviewed your hook and approved it, your hook should now appear in the DYK section of the main page within the next day or so, you will receive a notice once your hook is being displayed on the main page. Hello Sir

  1. How did you created that status signal?
  2. And for clean up petrol can I select law enforcement articles? Can you show me one demo of cleanup because for me all articles look perfect
  3. Can you help me with my userpage its total mess? Suyogaerospacetalk to me! 08:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Suyogaerospace, let me answer your questions it the order that you asked them :)
  • First off, you need to put
importScript('User:Misza13/statusChanger.js');

into your monobook.js

Then you need to refresh you cache and then at the top of your screen next to your log out button you should see three new buttons. The buttons will read: in, busy, out, those are what you use to change your status. Then you need to go to Special:Mypage/StatusTemplate and add the code for the three indicators. If you want you can copy the code from my template found here. Then after that's set and saved you should be done, from then on all you need to do is click on of the buttons to indicate your status.

  • Second, yes you can select law enforcement related article to cleanup :). I have found an example of a small cleanup that I requested a few months ago. If you look at these diffs, you can see that all the clean up was was to change a paragraph list to a billeted list using prose and to do some minor copy editing.
  • I'd be more than happy to help you with your userpage, that may take some time though, I'll start thinking of a design for it but if there anything specific that you want or a user's who's userpage you want your modeled after tell me so that I can make the page the way that you want :).

If you have any questions feel free to ask me :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:13, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

First off, Clean up patrol is an optional course you don't have to do it and many users have done just fine and they have never cleaned up an article ever, second, could you be a bit more clear with this? :Hello sir its also displaying a icon showing DYK ans rollback rights. I dont know which code to delete?" I need to know what your working on (Although I have a hunch it might be a header for your userpage) so that I can tell you what code to put where. In other news I have finished a first draft of a userpage for you, you can see it at User:Mifter/Sandbox. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Next to the status signal there are three more icons
  1. a blue coloured question mark icon her is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mifter/DYK
  2. a wikipedia logo stating that this user has rollback rights http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Rollback_feature

Can you adopt me. You seem so smart and amazing. I hope to be an admin like you. --I Am The Great Editor in Chief (talk) 21:55, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure I'd be happy to adopt you, just add this to your userpage {{Adoptee|Mifter}} and then check out User:Mifter/Adoption to see how my adoption works, also take a look at your adoption page and fill in your editing interests. Actually there are NO requirements to become an admin, but some general guidlines can be found at WP:Guide to requests for adminship. I hope this answers your questions. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:05, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Guess what?

I have nominated you for adminship.

Hi there, while I am flattered and appreciate your kindness in offering to nominate me for adminship I must graciously and respectfully decline your offer, I am currently looking to be admin coached and in a few months when my coach thinks that I am ready, I will probably go for adminship, for the time being though I must decline your offer of nomination. DYK next updating

Mifter, I wanted to let you know you should use the good submissions for DYK that are older; not those on the current day, as they have probably not been vetted and others are ahead in line. Thanks for helping. BTW, I need to be credited for Indy Fire Department being on front page.--Bedford Pray 23:38, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, about the DYK's I generally don't approve hooks, I simply find approved ones and then add them to the next update set, I won't use new approved hooks unless I absolutely have to because there are no other approved older hooks, also there are a few hooks that are older but have Image recommendations and I generally leave them so that I can place those in the header with there Images so because of that they might have to wait longer to be featured than plain text hooks but otherwise I always use the oldest approved hooks first and then work my way into the newer hooks as necessary :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 02:53, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

WWW.JBHS.ORG article

Not sure how to really improve this. It's just a description of the website and what people need to know about it for James Bowie High School in Austin Texas.Nonexistentera (talk) 17:21, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, unfortunately your article currently fails WP:N which means that your article might not be notible enough to be included here. In order to fix that you should take a look around the internet and try to find reliable third party sources that have a coverage of www.JBHS.org

According to WP:N

If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be notable.

  • "Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, and no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than trivial but may be less than exclusive.[1]
  • "Reliable" means sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability.[2]
  • "Sources,"[3] defined on Wikipedia as secondary sources, provide the most objective evidence of notability. The number and nature of reliable sources needed varies depending on the depth of coverage and quality of the sources. Multiple sources are generally preferred.[4]
  • "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc.[5]
  • "Presumed" means that substantive coverage in reliable sources establishes a presumption, not a guarantee, of notability. Editors may reach a consensus that although a topic meets this criterion, it is not suitable for inclusion. For example, it may violate what Wikipedia is not.[6]

A topic for which this criterion is deemed to have been met by consensus, is usually worthy of notice, and satisfies one of the criteria for a stand-alone article in the encyclopedia. Verifiable facts and content not supported by multiple independent sources may be appropriate for inclusion within another article.

A possible solution would be to include the information about the website into your school's article (If your school doesn't currently have one Be Bold and write one!) and then Redirect your article into the section of your school's article that covers its website. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 17:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

If you have uploaded the wrong Image, then the only people who can delete it are administrators but if you want to have an Image removed, you can tag it with {{db-author}} and then a admin should delete it for you. And sorry about the new messages notice, it was a mistake with one of the tools that I used and I immediately reverted my changes so your Image won't be deleted but which ever image you want to have deleted just tag with {{db-author}}. Also, about my little quote at the top of the page, what it means is that the only way to avoid criticism is to do nothing and that means that criticism is something that should be learned from and not scorned because the only way to avoid it is to do nothing and if you do nothing then you will consequently be nothing (That's the best way that I can explain it). BTW, thanks for trying to help out with the update earlier today. The reason I reverted your changes is that I could have used those hooks myself, but I was working hard to try and created a balanced update without too many people hooks. Oh, I was using Twinkle (The adoption lesson User:Mifter/Adoption/Vandalism 1.1 give some more info) and AWB is Auto Wiki Browser You have to have at least 500 mainspace edits to be approved to use it and it can be used to check spelling on articles, distribute notices, and all sorts of stuff, and I use the {{talkback}} template, for you it would look like this {{talkback|Suyogaerospace}}. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 15:11, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I have checked awb they haven't mentioned any thing about 500 edits!
  • Should I use twinkle now? or should i wait for my training to get overSuyogaerospacetalk to me! 09:04, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Its all your choice, but you should understand the responsibilities that come from using Twinkle before you start using it and exactly what twinkle can do and what it cannot do (Abuse of Twinkle can result in a block :( ) :). If you have any more questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 01:01, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Bot

Hey, I got python programed and all. I logged in. Can you please give me the next steps for what to do for interwiki and something what Mifterbot currently does? Thanks for the help! « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 15:24, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok, so now you need to go to "Start" then "Run" and type cmd.exe, then once that opens type chdir\"pywikipedia" (This only works if you have the pywikipedia directory right on your hard drive not on the desktop or in another folder.) Then type login.py and then when it prompts you type your bots password, then after that type hit enter and then type which python program you want to run (e.g. welcome.py (The user welcoming script that Mifterbot runs that on the Commons because they allow welcome bots there :)) and then the bot should start operating. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 15:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. For finding if the image has a source (or not), what do you use? « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 15:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Do you have any other python "scripts" that you use? What other tasks are available? Thanks, « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 22:28, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi, well, there are tons of scripts that are out there, some of them are "copyright.py" which is a script that does something like CorenSearchBot does and it checks the contents of new article against a Google, Yahoo, and MSN for copyvios and tags them accordingly, then theres "archivebot.py" which is a archive bot script (Written and published by Misza13) which well archives talk pages, there is "interwiki.py" which is used to add interwiki links to articles, and the list goes on. If you have any other questions about bots or python feel free to ask me :), (Oh, and Mifterbot runs a very heavily modified version of checkimages.py (only about 20% of the original code is still used), I re-wrote most of the code and added a regex to screen depreciated license tags like {{pd}} along with streamlining the code and some other major changes). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:47, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

A Driver for Vera

Hey, your bot had a problem with Image:A Driver for Vera.jpg. Could you please explain in human language what's wrong with it, cause I can't see what it is. Lampman (talk) 00:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I just took a look at your image and I realized that the reason that the bot kept tagging it no license is because it lacked a non-free license tag, I have just added on so from on the bot should ignore the template. For future reference all fair use images must be tagged with one of the tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free to state that the image is non free and used under fair use :). If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 02:53, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
I thought I had left that tag there, but somewhere along the way it must have disappeared. Anyway, thanks for your response! Lampman (talk) 02:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. Well, you have two choices here, you can either upload the images here or on the Commons, and then you have to chose a license (Creative Commons, GDFL, or release it into the Public Domain), and then you can just put into the infobox on the politicians entry (A complete list of them can be found here if there currently isn't one on the article and most have a parameter for a signature), and then you can just add in the signature and your done :). I have detailed all information needed, as far as I understand:

Lehi Ribbon,

Defense Minister of Israel (author, creator),

what else is needed?

do I need to add the copy right holder (which is Defense Minister of Israel)?

Is there anythingelse needed?

--Shevashalosh (talk) 10:56, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok, now its fine :) all it needed was to have a tag to indicate its copyright status which when my bot looked at the Image it was lacking a tag so it marked it for deletion, now it should be fine though :). Thanks, and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 01:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, as I see your RfA was closed per WP:NOTNOW, I can say that you will be fine, but being that you have been indefinitely blocked for your username I would recommend if you read this to chose a new name for yourself and then add a unblock template with a request for a temp unblock pending a rename, and then go to WP:RENAME and add a request for a username change which will then be processed by a bureaucrat and once your username change is approved, then you can continue editing normally. Thank You - Photo Help?

Thanks for the notice on the photo on Milagro Vargas. As a new user, I must admit I am rather confused by the maze of image standards. So, I found this picture on Google Images (which means it's in the public domain?), and it's on the site americancomposers.org. Hi there, unfortunatly as you found the image on Google Images, we cannot be sure of the copyright status of the Image, and from what I could see the content of the website that you found the Image on is copyrighted so unfortunately, we are probably not able to use it on Wikipedia due to copyright restrictions, for more information on Image copyright on Wikipedia, I recommend that you see here, and , if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me :). Hello from Switzerland,

just got your message, that I have to change the copyright for our u-blox logo. But I do not know how to do that.

On our German Wikipedia-Page:

http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bild:U-blox_color_1024x393.jpg&filetimestamp=20071207212047

we also have our logo, but I could not link it.

It would be great if you could help me.

Another question is, that on both of our Wikipedia-pages u-blox begins with a capitalize "U-blox", is it possible to change that into a small "u-blox".

Here is our homepage: www.u-blox.com

My mail is klaus.erlinghagen@u-blox.com

Hi there, if you wish to change the copyright on one of the images that you uploaded to another free license, all you have to do is change the license on the page to another license tag that's all there is to it :), and about changing the uppercase U to lowercase on the en Wikipedia (I have no idea about the de Wikipedia you should probably ask someone there) we have a template that will change the first letter in the name of any article to lowecase, the template is {{lowercase}} (An example) all you have to do is put that on the top of any article and it will change the first letter to lowercase. • Please stop your bot from tagging my photo. It's a personally-taken photograph of myself, for use on my userpage. I've made that clear. I don't know what else I need to do. Please keep the bot from tagging that photograph again. S. Dean Jameson 21:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry about taking so long, I was a bit busy in real life and as such couldn't respond for a while, being that you released the Image into the public domain, all you need to do is add a license tag (Which is why my bot keeps tagging you image for deletion) and if you add {{Pd-self}} to the Image my bot should no longer bother you :). Unspecified source for Image:AL size.png

I do not now what to do after your message. i was quite happy after uploading the file, because it was the first time I did it and therefore already not so easy. Now, I am confronted with many more problems, copyright etc. Perhaps you can guide me on this.

The thing is that I only altered an already existing and as I think free image. What I did is simply chopping of some parts, converting to png, and uploading the new file. The original file states that permission is granted to modify the picture. So , I assume I did nothing wrong and the only problem is to mae the correct declarations.

Please tell me, if in deed, I did not violate copyrights. If so, please explain me more clearly what I will have to do. If I violated the right s of the original user, of course, i want to delete the file as soon as possible. Thanks for your efforts and support. Tomeasytalk 21:31, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Do you also read your talk page. I am still waiting for your support as the 48 deadline is approaching. If you cannot react in time perhaps you shold not set such strict deadlines. Tomeasytalk 08:27, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, Sorry about that I had something going on in real life and because of that I couldn't reply to your comment, I noticed that you had already added a tag to the Image, but for future reference if you upload a derivative work (Modified Version of the origional) you should generally use the same license as the original (Except with Creative Commons Licenses where you HAVE to use the same license). If you have any other questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:09, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Your bot's shit, make it go away

Yuss, I added a photo to Ian Rankin's page. Said it was me that took it, all that. Get a message today saying that your bot's going to delete it, unless I do some stuff, which it doesn't grant me the courtesy of explaining how to do. I mean, muh? You might be an obsessive Wiki addict to whom all that stuff makes sense, but I'm just someone trying to make the Wikipedia a better place, and I have no idea what it all means. I suggest you give your bot the ability to give some clear instructions when it finds something it dislikes. And go and fix my photo on the Ian Rankin page once you've done that. Running behind schedule

We're still working on the page prepping.

On each of the country pages listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics, there is a flag and a coat of arms image, next to the table of contents. Their heights are out of whack and they need to be matched up.

For example, adjust each pair that the heights don't match up, like this:

to match up like this:

They take fiddling with, but you'll get the hang of it fast.

Various people have taken a crack at the list, and there's not too many left.

The Transhumanist    04:51, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Update: The K's through the R's still need to be done. Your help would sure be appreciated. The Transhumanist    03:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
By the way, some of the images done so far have gotten too big. When you are matching up image heights, please be sure to reduce the size of the larger one to match the height of the smaller one.
Thank you.

I've just finished the K's. That leaves the L's through R's. Just seven letters.  :) The Transhumanist    03:26, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Small hiccough with your bot

Hi, your bot left a message on my talk concerning Image:Hadad.jpg, which I had uploaded a new version of... It misstated the problem, as the image was clearly sourced... the license tag was simply deprecated. Cheers, --Storkk (talk) 09:15, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that, currently my bot can't see if the tag it depreciated or if there is no license so it tags both of them the same and uses the same notice, I am currently working on fixing that but for the time being it will tag {{PD}} images with {{nld}} but it still uses {{Image source-bot}} as opposed to a different message for images it has tagged due to the depreciated tag. I appreciate you taking the time to report this bug to me becase this is how I keep updating the bot script as necessary and fixing bugs in the script :). Hi there, after taking a look at both Images, I see that they are both copyrighted and because of that you need to add a Non free use tag to both of them and add a WP:Fair use rationale in order to keep them from being deleted, this is done becuase the only way to use copyrighted Image on Wikipedia is claiming fair use and because of that a few more steps must be taken to insure that all Fair Use Images are appropriately tagged. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 18:10, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

your bot and image messages

Recently your bot put 7 "no source" messages here. I notice it used the exact same message for each one. You may consider checking out this page. It isn't a bot script per se, but you may be able to adopt it for your use. If it tags 3 images for example, it will use the full message the first time. After that, it will notice the full message is there and will use an abbreviated message for the last two. Might be useful for you.--Rockfang (talk) 22:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip :), I'll take a look to see if I can configure the bot to use the script as to streamline the warnings :). Thanks for the tip and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:02, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, in response to your question above, I am actually going to make this part of your test for the Copyright on a free Wikipedia section of your adoption program, what I want you to do is ask your question at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions and then once you get a response I want you to come back and tell me exactly how you would upload the image and under what license. If you really get stuck just tell me and then I can tell you what to do, but I think it is important that in addition to being able to ask me questions that you know where to ask questions in general because in case I am ever not around to answer your questions you can still get the help and answers to you questions that you need :). The copyright u want from me

I do not know where can I write the website. It is from Google. Here is the link to it: [1] ] I can never get a copyright. AND google never needs copyright. --Florence Lau 14:43, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, per Wikipedia policy all Images must state where they came from (You created it, it is under a free license, or its used under fair use) and if they don't have a License Tag then they can be deleted, being that the Image you found was from Google, there is a huge chance that the Image is copyrighted, and unless we can verify that the Image is available under a Free license, then the Image will have to be deleted for copyright violation, I recommend that you read WP:Copyright#Image_guidelines for some more information about Image copyrights and what they mean on Wikipedia. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:46, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. Well, you need to ask the person who took the pictures what license he wants them to be used under (If he gave all rights to the Photos to you then you can chose any license that you wish), and then once you know which license the photographer (or you) wish to use then you can pick out a template from Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Free licenses and once you add it to the image then everything should be fine :). Sorry to be a pedant

Your Bot said "I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear". This was and is untrue. I don't appreciate false allegations from machines. If you were doing the work yourself you wouldn't have said that. Your Bot did correctly note that I had not put a copyright licence thing on some of my photos. I have now amended that. But as a newbie to wikipedia I find it terribly confusing to have a bot tell me something that is untrue. I followed the "upload file" instructions obediently and so my files all specified that I had created them from the moment they were uploaded. Wk 85 (talk) 19:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there per this the Image that you uploaded is considered a copyright violation and was deleted, if you wish to re-upload the Image and use it in an article, then you need to add {{non-free fair use in|article name}} on the Image in order for the Image to not be deleted again as a copyvio. Would you kindly indicate what further is required by way of indicating that photos are self-created and that copyright is released into the public domain generally, and specifically for use in illustrating Wikipedia articles. Hi Mifter, I've restored the template to the previous revision per the talk page. It was a good idea, but we don't get enough requests to categorise them in this way. It might become necessary in the future, but it's redundant to the section headers that are already provided. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 14:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Communist California Flag

Thanks for uploading Image:Flag of Communist California.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

That's fine with me, I apologize for any edit conflicts that I may have caused you :(, I was already in the process of adding another hook and I had already added the hook and saved before I had noticed (You addition of the tag didn't trigger an edit conflict with me because I was editing a totally different section of the page further down than you were.) Once again my apologies for any edit conflicts, and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:29, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
No problems, you just seemed to be adding all people hooks and we try to avoid have too many of any one kind of hook in an update. As it turned out, I was able to use a couple of your hooks anyhow without unbalancing things, so it worked out pretty well. Thanks for your help :) Gatoclass (talk) 14:33, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
BTW, I think I should add that it was entirely my fault we had an edit conflict as I failed to add an inuse tag when I was still working on the update. I just assumed that since the last update had been four hours late, that no-one else was around to contribute. So I think it's me who owes you an apology rather than the other way around. Regards, Gatoclass (talk) 15:50, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks!

Thank you...

...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 22:07, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mifter. Just to let you know, I've added sources to the article since you commented. Thanks! Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 18:13, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

What's next?

24 of the pages have been moved to article space. These will pose as examples of how the rest should be completed.

But...

They're not done yet!

They were moved to article space even though they are not done because they were complete enough to be useful, and to provide the opportunity for more editors to help finish them.

What I need you to do is help complete them.

Here they are:

List of basic Albania topicsList of basic Argentina topicsList of basic Australia topicsList of basic Canada topicsList of basic Ecuador topicsList of basic Egypt topicsList of basic France topicsList of basic Germany topicsList of basic Iceland topicsList of basic India topicsList of basic Indonesia topicsList of basic Iran topicsList of basic Iraq topicsList of basic Republic of Ireland topicsList of basic Italy topicsList of basic Isle of Man topicsList of basic Israel topicsList of basic Japan topicsList of basic Macau topicsList of basic Mexico topicsList of basic Russia topicsList of basic Taiwan topicsList of basic United Kingdom topicsList of basic United States topics

If you don't have Firefox yet, install it. Then install the Linky extension. Then select the above lists (by holding down the left mouse button), then right-click, which will produce a drop down menu. You'll see Linky on there - use it to open all the selected links into tabs (windows within the Firefox window). Then you can switch between tabs using Ctrl-tab (and Shift-Ctrl-tab), and delete tabs with Ctrl-W. It's the fastest way to work on multiple pages when you actually need to see what you are doing.

What needs to be done to these lists? Well...

Check each outline for missing entries

Some of the above lists were developed with an older version of the creation template, and have some items missing. Compare them with template:BLT country to make sure they are complete.

Add images

France and Japan are the closest to being done. See how they are supported with images, and add images to the rest of the lists.

Redlinks

I'm building a tool to help convert redlinks to bluelinks. When it's done, you can use it to help you convert the redlinks in each of the above lists to bluelinks.

A redirect needs to be created for most of the redlinks, that leads to where the information is (an article, or section in an article). If the information exists on Wikipedia, then a redirect needs to be created leading to it. If the information does not yet exist on Wikipedia, then leave the redlink in place. It'll turn blue eventually. (Exception: see "Nones" below).

Missing data

Some items aren't filled in yet, such as:

Population:
Size:
Commander in Chief:
Economic rank:
Currency of x:
(etc.)

Check each page for missing data, and fill it in.

Nones

For those items for which a country has none, "None." needs to be added. For example, most desert countries don't have glaciers. But rather than remove that item (it's standard on these lists), it's better to inform the reader that the country has none. This prevents ambiguity - if we removed the glacier item, then there's no way to tell that the item isn't simply missing (i.e., the list could be unfinished).  :)

Other

I'm sure there are other things I've missed. I'll let you know as I come across them.

Image tutorial

Hi Mifter, I saw User:Mifter/Signpost and thought I would make a few suggestions to help keep the tutorial in line with WP:IMAGES.

You might want to suggest that people actually upload images to the Commons (with the exception, naturally, of fair use images and those not PD in their country of origin) - per WP:IMAGES It is recommended that free media ... be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. The final sentence of the tutorial, additionally, includes "[[Image:Your Image Here.xxx|Thumb|Alignment|Size e.g. 100px|Comment]]", which implicitly suggests that image size should be defined (WP:IMAGES directs to MOS:IMAGES, which advises against forcing size, as it overrides user preferences). Finally, as a mere suggestion, you might want to include a link to WP:IUP, which is the actually image policy. Hope this is helpful. ЭLСОВВОLД talk 20:13, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Picture for groudwater resources in Colombia

Hi Mifter! Thank you very much for leaving the tag on the picture mentioned above. The picture is publicly available in the Colombian Water Ministry web site and I wanted to tag it as publicly available. However, there is only the possiblity to tag the picture if it comes from an American public institution. Could you please assit me on this? How could I tag the picture to make it acceptable for Wikipedia standars? The picture is instrumental for an article I am currently writing about water resources mangement in Colombia. Re: US hooks

You aren't actually "forced to use all the hooks from August 5 as they were about to expire". Hooks that have already been approved will always eventually be promoted, regardless of whether they are a few days late. The only time this may not occur is when we have a big backlog and simply can't promote everything, approved or otherwise, but that is rarely the case. So for future reference, you don't need to get into a panic about verified hooks below the expiry line :) Gatoclass (talk) 03:19, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

There is only one section left (including its subsections) that needs to be completed before the pages are ready for Around the World:

  • Branches of the government of x
    • Executive branch of the government of x
    • Legislative branch of the government of x
    • Judicial branch of the government of x

There are a few more things that need to be completed before the lists can be moved into the main namespace:

  • Fill in the blanks, and blank [[]]'s
    • Population:
    • Size:
    • "(specific elections)" needs to be replaced by links to specific elections (by year, usually)
    • International organization membership
    • Commander-in-chief: [[]]
    • Economic rank:
    • Currency of x:
  • Blue-linking (creating redirects for) standardized items for which the articles' names are not standardized:
  • Fix other temporary links
  • Material in the lead paragraph(s) that is covered in the body of the list needs to be removed, or moved from the lead to the relevant items in the list.
  • Fill in the External Links section

Moving these lists into the main namespace could have a huge impact on their development, because then each list will fall under the scope of the WikiProjects of the respective countries. That's a lot of WikiProjects that may become involved with refining and maintaining these lists.

The move will be accompanied with the placing of new sections on each of the WikiProject pages, their talk pages, placing banners on the talk pages of each list, and including links to these lists in hatnotes on the relevant articles and portals, and placing section links in the see also sections of relevant articles (Geography of x, Military of x, etc.). Lots of AWB work.

Incidentally, if you're keen to keep your assessing skills honed – despite your wikibonkdness – we are currently very short of reviewers for Milhist A-Class reviews. Broadly, the five A-Class criteria are just beefed up versions of the B-Class criteria and anyone with B-Class experience should have no trouble with them. Also, as a reminder, in the wide-ranging A-Class review, it is not necessary to comment on all five criteria: if you're short of time, you can simply focus on the aspects that interest you most (sources, comprehensiveness, prose, graphic content or whatever). You can track which articles are up for A-Class using this template: {{WPMILHIST A-Class Review alerts}}

Gvat DYK

I have some concerns over the sources used in the Gvat article. Some of the sources look like blog spaces and are not reliable. I think it was a little premature to move that article over to the next update.Nrswanson (talk) 21:14, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, when I update the DYK template I usually only do a quick overlook involving checking of the hook and the ref for the hook, and after that I trust that the original reviewer did not make any major mistakes, and being that the hook was added to an update by another user and appeared on DYK on August 31st the hook must have been good enough to not be pulled off the main page or arouse any discussion about the article's quality (It has happened before when a bad hook has been accidentally added to the main page), so as the quote at the top of my talk page says, criticism is something to praise and learn from so thanks for telling me of my mistake, in the future I will be sure to do a more through check before adding any hooks to the next DYK update. Thanks for informing me of this and All the Best :), --Mifter (talk) 02:03, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:37, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Remove the photographs

Go ahead, remove all the photographs. I should have never put them on Wikipedia, not should I have ever contributed to Wikipedia. Chaos4tu (talk) 12:00, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I apologize if my bot seemed to be accusatory in any way, my bots only job is to tag and notify any users that forget to add a License tag to the images that they have uploaded so that they can add a license tag to the Image and prevent it from being deleted, and as my bots message says, all you have to do is add a license tag saying that you took the photo and are releasing it under x license for use on Wikipedia and that will be fine, therefore, I apologize if my bot sounded accusatory and hope that my bot has not discouraged you from editing Wikipedia. My apologizes and All the Best, Mifter (talk) 02:36, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, your Image is fine now :), my bot tagged your image as not having copyright information because it lacked a License Tag and now that you added {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to the Image, it should be fine and will not be deleted :). Bot malfunction?

Is there a reason why MifterBot marked this image as "no copyright status" two days after the image was deleted? --Carnildo (talk) 07:58, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Carnildo :), thanks for telling me about this :), what you see there is indeed a bot "hiccup", the bots python code is designed to search the Image upload log for the last few days (To make sure not to miss any images between runs) and as the bot goes through the log, it is coded so that if it sees ANY text in the [[Image:]] namespace (Following the Wikilink from the Image upload log) without a license tag it marks it as no source (Being that the Image namespace is reserved for Images/Media, that usually works fine), what happened is that the Image was deleted, but then User:Lumal added text to the old page, thus creating a page without the corresponding image and because the deleted image's log entry was still close enough to the top of the log as to be checked by my bot, it checked the Image page (Thinking that it was an image) and not finding a license tag the bot added a no source tag, but because there was not the log of who originally uploaded the Image (The Image was deleted, and my bot does not check the history but the box at the bottom of all Images saying who uploaded it on x date), so therefore, it couldn't notify a user, so the bot did nothing and continued checking the log. And at the end of the run, I shut it down as usual not thinking that the bot had made a small mistake in its log patrol. So thanks for informing me of this error, currently I am not sure how exactly I could fix the code so that it should not happen again but being that it this occurs VERY rarely and usually it happens far enough back in the log (Or not in the log at all if the page is created and an Image is never uploaded at all) that my bot should not check it and flag it as no source. Therefore, I do not think that it is critical for a fix to be found, before the bot continues running but I will certainly look into any possibilities from preventing this from happening in the future. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 03:08, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
If you're screen-scraping the image description page, you can look for the phrase "No file by this name exists"; if you're using the API, look for an empty "imagerepository" attribute in an "imageinfo" section. Situations like this aren't that rare: OrphanBot informs me of one or two a month. --Carnildo (talk) 20:11, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I apologize for taking so long to respond to your question, but I've been very busy as of late, and have not had time to properly respond. If the information in the article is unsourced, than according to Jimbo (The Founder of Wikipedia) and per this you can just remove it, but if you wish to, you could try to find a reliable source for the information and then cite it thus improving the article in question :), but if you decide to remove it I strongly suggest that you mention that you were removing unsourced statements from the article in your edit summery, otherwise your edit might be mistakenly reverted as vandalism. I hope that this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 17:07, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Could you please consider reverting your warning on User talk:24.171.16.43? The editor was attempting to revert vandalism by an earlier editor. Please compare the original vandal edit with 24.171.16.43's attempted repair. Regards. Road Wizard (talk) 00:20, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, thanks for telling me about my mistake :), being as Wp:Huggle only shows the last two revisions when I am doing RC Patrol, it is sometimes hard to see if someone was actually making a constructive edit that could be mis-interpreted as vandalism, I take full responsibility for my mistake, and I have removed the warning and replaced it with a welcome template, Thanks for telling me about this I really do appreciate it, as the quote at the top of my talk page says, the only way to avoid criticism is to not do anything and when you are critiqued; that it is something to praise and to learn from; not to loathe, so thanks again for telling me of my mistake and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:29, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
I stroke out the warning. --Enric Naval (talk) 03:27, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Mifter, thanks for dealing with the issue so quickly, you managed to resolve the problem in the few seconds it took me to refresh my watchlist. Mistakes are always understandable and the situation in this case was a little confused by a well-meaning novice editor who failed to fully repair the vandal edit due to lack of experience.
Enric Naval, you have cited this discussion as the reason for removing Mifter's edit warning at User talk:79.125.181.181. However this is a completely different editor. I have reverted the page to the last version by Mifter to restore the warning.
Mifter, can you review User talk:79.125.181.181 to judge whether the removal of the warning was valid and take corrective action if needed? Thanks. Road Wizard (talk) 07:02, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, as you asked I reviewed the warning that I made, and from what I can see, the warning seemed to be justified, because the edit that I reverted, had removed an Image from the article along with changing the words Greece and Macedonia around a bit, which appeared to be minor vandalism. If you would like to take a look at the edit, here is a link to it. If you have any more questions/comments please feel free to ask :). Navy redirects

We've been "bluelinking" the Navy of x links in the basic topic country lists, by creating redirects for them, even for the countries that have no navy.

There's been a little controversy over the navy redirects for the landlocked countries (many of which have no navy), as you can see above. But it's all been worked out. Each country with no navy gets a redirect to wherever it is reported that it has no navy, or failing that, to its "military of" article.

The country lists are coming along slowing but surely. It shouldn't take too much longer before they will be complete enough to move into article space (!), but I can still use all the help I can get. (hint hint).
